Angel was very professional and polite/respectful and made sure to give us opportunity to review the work and ask questions before he left. Resurfacing work is excellent; the shower pan looks like new. The bathroom area was as clean as prior to the work. No dust/no debris. Other than a "new" shower pan, you could not tell any work had been done in the bathroom. Our tub looks amazing!! The tub was an original when the townhouse was built in 1949, and it now looks brand new and beautiful! We are so pleased. The technician was extremely professional, punctual and efficient with his work. As promised, a text was sent when he was on his way. After meeting him, I went to work, and then the office called to let me know when the work was almost done so I could return, rather than having to wait around for a few hours. We found out about custom tub and tile from a livingsocial deal, which I am usually skeptical about with contractors. They squeeze on the price somewhere else or are so inundated with calls that they never answer or come out. However, this wasn't the case at all with this company. They exceeded our expectations in every way. We were doing a major job, much more than just refinishing a tub. It was a poor family with our church that had let two bathrooms fall into complete disrepair and mold. The grout was bad, wall was bad, leaky plumbing, etc. The only thing this company couldn't do was the actual plumbing. After starting, the corroded handles and faucet were breaking so they went and got one that night and put it in the next morning for a really good added price. Overall, the price was better than our other estimates. They were friendly and quick, and easy to make payments over the phone with a credit card. Only a third is needed for the deposit. I plan on using them again for any bathroom related items! read more

I had my bathtub - which had last been reglazed in 1980 - refinished and my bathroom floor - which had the old 1" impossible to keep clean tiles - resurfaced last week by Custom Tub and Tile. I could not be happier. I used Yelp, Angie's List and Washington Checkbook to choose this vendor. While their prices were slightly higher than other estimates, they were very detailed in their pricing and very clear about their services. They also seemed more experienced with the flooring aspect of the work. Customer service with Larkin was excellent and the one misunderstanding (about disposal of the old toilet) was addressed. Work orders were detailed and professional and delivered by e-mail. I also received a 5 year warranty and instructions for cleaning. Dennis arrived exactly on time for the two day project. He worked quickly, quietly, independently and was pleasant to have in my home. The vanity and toilet were removed to be sure that the floor re-surfacing was complete and the vanity was replaced and plumbing re-connected. The tub was re-surfaced and the calking around it replaced. The tub loooks like new, the floor sparkles and is easy to clean. The only negative is that there is a strong odor to the process even with venting through a tube out the window. I recommend Custom Tub & Tile highly. In fact, my other contractor (in case you were concerned that I was languishing without a toilet) was impressed enough to ask me for their information. read more

I bought the Living Social deal and made an appointment a month in advance on the one day that I would be off work. The gentleman who took my call and I agreed to an 8-10am arrival window, which I noted on a sticky note, my work calendar, and a white board at home so I would not forget or miss it. The confirmation email they sent did not mention a specific appointment time, but at that point I saw no cause for concern. I didn't hear from them in the month that followed, so I called the day before the appointment to make sure they were still coming. I was informed that I was NOT their first appointment of the day, they had no record of my scheduling the 8-10am time slot, and that the technician would arrive 11a-1p. Fine, this messed up my plans for my day off, but I was trying to be flexible and stated that as long as they arrived no later than 1pm I could work it out. On the day of the service, I got a call at 12:17pm saying the technician was finishing his first job, but was close by in DC and should arrive at 1pm or maybe very shortly thereafter. Umm, not cool, but ok. By 1:20pm STILL no one had come. I called the office and said I would need to cancel if they could not show up in the next 5-10 minutes. They were apologetic, but ultimately could not get anyone here in the time window they promised...not the 8-10am window originally promised, nor the 11a-1pm window subsequently promised, nor the "shortly after 1pm" window ultimately promised. FAIL. Day off ruined. Tub remains ugly. Fortunately, Living Social, who actually gets the concept of customer service, is refunding the cost of my voucher. read more

I am very impressed with the before and after results of our tile and tub refinishing. I can not believe the transformation. Both bathrooms were left spotless and looking like a million bucks. The only downside was the smell. I suggest you open all windows if you can and stay out of the house for atlas 24-48 hours. We needed a shower pan changed from black to white instead of course, replacing it. Our experience with this whole process was great. Dennis, the technician, called before he came and arrived in the designated time frame given. As stated by Humaira in a previous review, Dennis takes pride in his work. He did an excellent job and the shower pan looks great! I just hope it looks this good for a long time. We understand they also do caulking and grouting. As for Dennis, great guy! I had a wonderful experience with this company, as I hired them to refinish a standard bath tub. I initially spoke with another company that had a slightly cheaper quote. However, influencing my decision primarily was the great customer service, as I emailed Custom Tub a picture of the project tub and they responded in a timely manner with a very detailed email with a price quote. They were also pleasant the times I spoke with the company on the phone, compared to the other company. Before the day of the actual job, I was given a window by which to expect the refinisher to arrive, which was between 8-10 am. Carlos, who was pleasant and professional, called about 40 minutes prior to let me know he was on his way & would arrive in about the next half or so. Well, true to his word, Carlos came about 15 minutes to 8 am, with equipment in tow, removed his shoes after he came inside & started the process on the tub. The sanding process generates a lot of dust and the epoxy is quite strong, but as would be expected, they have a ventilation system that exhausts to the outside, via a window you give access to, in proximity to where the refinishing is occurring. The entire process took about two and half hours and when Carlos was done, it looked like a new tub was completely installed & an otherwise ordinary bathroom looked revitalized. Fabulous! I wouldn't hesitate to hire this company again, as Carlos was great and very clean throughout the process. I didn't have to cleanup anything after him, which speaks to how the management obviously takes care to ensure their refinishers are trained properly & exhibit great customer service. These are attributes that are great to see in business, as often they can be conspicuously lacking. read more

Then their technician started the job and discovered that in order to honor the warranty I would need additional treatments costing an extra $200.00 and if I declined they would still charge me for the stripping that they already started. I bought a living social deal for the company to get my shower resurfaced. When I bought this deal, I was told that I was in the service area. About a week after I scheduled the service, I was told that I am NOT in the service area. Apparently, I was about 10 miles outside the service area. They should of honored the service, but instead I had to go through the hassle of getting a refund through living social. I am very disappointed in this company, and will not be recommending them to anyone. read more

For those that have followed my story from the beginning here is my update. I can not say enough about the customer service I have received since my first review. Chris has been wonderful to work with. I had to contact Chris in January because I had the shower glass replaced which cause damage to the great work that Dennis did on the refinish. This was no fault of the company or the work that was done but when the old frame was removed it damaged the finish right where it connected. Working with Chris I was able to have Dennis come back and not only fix but redo the pan. For anyone looking for a bathroom remodel from anything to refinishing to new tile but want to work with a smaller company where you will not only be heard but feel valued this is it. I wanted to follow-up my last updated post. Since then, Chris had contacted me and informed me that he would fix the smudge on my tub at no cost. I really appreciate this as he was under no obligation to especially since we were not able to come upon an agreement of how it happened. Regardless, one of his techs came out last Friday and fixed the smudge and the tub looks great again. I am very pleased with the service and appreciate Chris' professionalism, customer service, and follow-up. Our tub had been roughed up from years of harsh chemicals and was permanently stained. I jumped at the chance to try resurfacing over much more costly reglazing. I wish I'd taken before photos so I could post them. The difference is amazing, I liked it so much we had the surround shower kit done too (I didn't know they could do that!). The bath looks brand new now. My only caution is the slippery surface, you can't use ordinary bathmats with suction cups as they'll ruin the finish. We've tried using net style shelf lining and two mats facing each other with the cups on the inside, but I recommend you purchase the mat I've been told they now sell as I searched high and low for one that would work and fit properly. read more

I had the misfortune of interacting with this company after purchasing a tub refinishing 'deal'. Called the company before purchasing the deal to discuss my tub and details like matching the color. Described my fiberglass tub to the lady there and believed we were a good match for the job. When the technician came out, I was told my tub wasn't considered standard and it would cost $400 MORE! The professionalism and friendliness of the technician, Dennis, who came out to do our bathroom work was wonderful. When he was finished, our bathroom looked like we had paid for a MUCH more expensive total remodel and was like having a whole new room. Unfortunately, we had some seriously bad luck later that very same day when a plumbing issue unrelated to the work done by CTT backed up black water into our newly refinished tub within the 24 hours that it needed to cure. The manager I spoke to on the phone, Chris, about our now ruined bathroom was not only professional, but friendly, relatable, and incredibly understanding. Between his through the roof levels of customer service and Dennis' willingness to come back out and get our bathroom looking back to new again (now that we had our plumbing issue resolved) they both went above and beyond what I could have expected or hoped for. I had a positive experience with my tub resurfacing experience. I had a few quotes and custom tub price was fair. Scheduling and confirming which service are needed were fairly easy. I communicated with the office via email most of the time and received very prompt responses. They provided very useful information of what to expect and the care after the job is done. The technician arrived on time and was very professional and courteous. Due to the tightness of our bathroom, he ended up spending 5 hour to strip the tub to its original state and then proceeded with the resurfacing. It was hard work. I agreed with other reviewers that the odor is quite strong. Opening windows and keeping ventilation on were quite critical. Till this day, almost a month later, I can still smell a faint odor but definitely is lessen as the tub is fully cured. Overall I am very happy with the outcome and the decision to go with Custom tub. Hope you will as well. read more
