There was zero care for our home, zero concern for the damage that could occur, and absolutely no pride in the service provided. The entire experience was careless, unprofessional, and exploitative. We used his service as he is an Igbo Nigerian and thought that kinship would gain some kind of care toward the job performed. My aunt had previously worked with him and decided to hire him again based on that past experience and connection. Unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. For a fee of $350 for 4 rooms, not only was the carpet cleaning itself unsatisfactory, but there was also a gross lack of proper water extraction. After the cleaning, the carpets remained overly damp. The technician provided no ventilation assistance (no open windows), no ,carpet fans, and upon job completion offered no advice to my aunt on how to ensure the carpets dried properly. When we reached out to the owner of this business afterward, he made it clear he didn't see it as his responsibility to ensure the carpets were left in a dry or even manageable state. This neglect left us with damp carpets and the risk of mildew issues due to the subsequent smell that we have encountered making the entire experience quite unsatisfactory. Instead of trying to work with me in finding some mutually beneficial outcome, the owner resorted to blaming my aunt for not knowing industry standard information that he was well aware of and the only solution offered by him was to pay for the cleaning service again and rent the carpet fans at a premium because they were needed urgently. In summary, CJ's Carpet Care failed to deliver a complete and professional service. The lack of care in ensuring a fully finished job is a significant concern, and I would caution others to consider this before hiring them.

Everything started out smoothly. Jacob arrived to my house and we discussed the project we wanted…read moredone. Replace laminate flooring with carpet for the majority of our basement. Carpet was supposed to go all the way to the pillar shown in the picture. Jacob explained that due to where the laminate was installed, they were able to get very close to the pillar, roughly 1 inch away. We agreed to this and a quote was received and approved. When the installers arrived, I explained to them everything as I explained to Jacob, including installation up to the pillar. They asked if they were doing the stairs too, and I said no. This should have been the first red flag of miscommunication. When the work was done, I noticed that the carpet did not reach the pillar as we have discussed. It was roughly 2 vinyl planks away (over a foot away!). The installers told them Jacob only told them 17ft installation, not to the pillar. Which was odd, since I specifically told the installers that it should have gone up to the pillar. If there were some confusion, why did they not ask me about it? At this point, it was too late to fix. Jacob arrived and confirmed it as supposed to go the pillar, and further confirmed that it was too late to do anything. By failing to remove all the vinyl planks up towards the pillar, this also caused the end of the carpet to not be able to be tucked under the laminate. Now there is an area of the carpet that sticks out as well, also shown in the picture. Finally, our basement has a step down area. By removing the laminate, it exposed a gap in my baseboard. I would have hoped that the installers would have asked us how to proceed, rather than just ignoring it and proceeding. So now I have more imperfections due to the carpet installation. At the end of the day, the carpet was mostly installed as we requested. Just wished that the communication would have been better. Now I am stuck with imperfections in my basement. The ironic part is, the leftover roll of carpet they provided me would have been enough to cover the area they failed to install.

There are very few ways to make an entire house unlivable and a bad contractor using cheap products on the floors is one of them. Just trust me on this, do not go cheap on the polyurethane finish material. Go with the premium water based product. AZ can help you choose the best one for you. I found AZ in the NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) list of certified professionals. I absolutely had to make sure that I was hiring a real professional and the best contractors self-select into NWFA certification because of rigorous training requirements. AZ also checked all other boxes. They had high-end dustless sanding equipment, certification from leading vendors of flooring products (Bona, Loba, etc), ongoing training, many years of experience, and a very competitive price point. The one thing that struck me about Moises, the owner of AZ was his dedication to his craft. It's hard to find contractors who strive for excellence in this day and age.
