Rick did an amazing job on our front door--the wood was bleached from the sun and very dull. He came out on the day we agreed on as scheduled, removed the door, and took it back to his shop and arrived exactly one week later as promised with the newly refinished door. He has this neat system to block the empty doorway with a wood panel, and he uses no screws on the doorway so it isn't damaged while the door is being refinished. Rick is one of the nicest guys I ever met AND he is very skilled. On top of being VERY NICE and VERY SKILLED...he is VERY REASONABLY PRICED. I contacted several refinishing businesses and Rick gave me the best price by far. I am going to have him do more work for me in the future. It is so much wiser to have a piece of furniture refinished than to buy new. Personally I feel New furniture is not as good quality as older pieces. Most furniture today is made cutting corners on workmanship. I received several estimates and Rick gave me the fairest estimate and the only estimate that enabled me to refinish my table. Rick refinished my old family dining room table - a pretty large Danish expanding table. It was pretty damaged over the years from water stains and general wear. We contacted Rick at Refinishing Express to work on an oak bench -- we wanted to change the finish from oak to black lacquer. Rick came all the way from Gaithersburg to our home in Alexandria on 3/18/15 to look at the job. He said it would be no problem to change it. Today, he delivered the completed project - and the bench has NEVER looked better. The black lacquer finish is just perfect. Before he brought it back into our house, he confirmed we were going to put it on a tile floor, and he added felt bottoms to the bench legs, to insure that the bench would glide properly.
