Colonial Restoration did a great job refinishing our front porch wood railings. We had purchased a home where it soon became clear that the former owners did not use the proper treatment/product on the exterior wood railings; they were quickly deteriorating. Jarrod came out w/a helper, showed me how the main rail post was clearly rotting. We agreed that he would rebuild the post & refinish the rest. Since Colonial does their best work in a "clean room", Jarrod & his associate removed all of the railings & post to take back to the shop. When I asked for the chip repair and repaint of adjacent surfaces, I expected the gold to be a slightly different color than the original. i also expected not to see a clear line at the breakpoint on the vase that showed through the re-painted surface as well as it did on the interior gold (see picture). I expected the results to be a restoration as claimed. I paid $285.00 for a chip repair and cold re-paint. Very dissatisfied! read more

They did a terrific job repainting our kitchen chairs with a lacquer finish as we discussed. Our 10 year-old chairs look like they're new! They got the finish just right. I dropped off some small items for repair LAST JANUARY. The owner's son accepted them. I NEVER heard back about repairs, but after multiple back and forth emails with the owner himself, apparently they had lost all of the items. When it became clear after months of this that items were gone, I requested insurance information so I could file a claim. Since that time, complete silence. I was trying to support a small family-owned business, but this was a mistake. They just don't give a darn about their work or this particular customer. read more

I just had an antique oak table and four chairs restored; the finished job was stunning! The table was split; and now you cannot even tell there was such a split! I also requested that the table be finished in walnut to blend with my china hutch; and again, you would not know that they were not a set! I brought a broken ceramic beer stein to David and he fixed it in a matter of minutes. It was broken in two large pieces and the breaks were clean. Jarrod assessed two broken bed rails from a 70 year old bed frame. They could not be repaired, but he made identical copies and matched the stain color. They refinished several pieces perfectly. They also refinished and essentially rebuilt my rosewood dining room table ; expanding from 8 guests to 12. They found an additional 4 antique rosewood chairs and reworked the design so that all 12 chairs were virtually the same. David and Jarrod were great to work with! Words can't truly express how happy I am with the restoration of my family's table. The table was given to me by my great grandparents. Being over 100 years old, the table was in rough shape, and after several moves, it was showing some wear. I took pictures and sent them in for a quote. The quote, which ended up being the final price, was more than reasonable. When I picked the table up and got it home I couldn't believe my eyes! They completely reworked the legs so now the table is much easier to put together. The table leaf that was once two pieces of wood is now one solid piece. The finish is flawless and the details on the legs pop even more. I had a family victrola delivered by movers in pieces. The top was completely crushed, body banged up, and wheels busted. I was easily able to arrange a pickup from my house. They were not only able to piece the top back together but they went over the whole piece to make sure it was in pristine condition when they delivered it back to me. If zero stars were an option, that's what I would rank this place. I dropped off a sentimental item to be turned into a piece of furniture. I was told they were busy but that I would have an estimate within two weeks. I was understanding about there being projects ahead of me, but apparently my business and item weren't important enough. The only thing that I ever got from this shop was excuses. 3 and 1/2 months later and I still haven't even received an estimate. Which is absolutely ridiculous. They have our great great grandmothers antique shelf that has several mirror pieces incorporated into the piece.
