This review is just about a year overdue. I LOOOOOOOVE my couch so much. It is EXACTLY what I wanted. I had an idea in my mind when I walked in the store and ended up with something even better. Dom and Julio helped me and they were outstanding and also so fun!! I practically live on my couch. I've had it for a year now and it's still in excellent condition and sooooooooooo cozy and comfortable. read more

Disappointing experience -- fabric availability should be checked before you take payment I placed a custom sofa order on a Saturday and chose a specific fabric, Contessa Peacock. A few days later I got a text saying the fabric was backordered 3-4 months and asking me to either wait or come back in to pick something else. None of this was mentioned when I paid. Since that fabric was the whole reason I ordered, I asked whether they'd offer a discount if I agreed to the extra wait. They offered $300 off only if I switched to a different fabric. When I said I'd keep my original choice and wait, they told me the fabric was now "no longer available," which is different from the backorder they first described. According to the store, they don't learn whether a fabric is in stock until after they order it from their supplier. That means you can pay for a custom piece without knowing whether it can actually be made as ordered. They did issue a full refund, which I appreciate, but I'd planned to buy a matching ottoman as well and I'm now taking all of that business elsewhere. If you shop here, confirm your fabric is available before you pay, or be prepared for it to change after the sale. I went with 1 star, but 2 would fit too since they did refund you without a fight. If they actually asked you for three backup fabric choices at checkout, I'd leave out the line about not knowing at the time of purchase, because they'll likely point that out in a reply. I visited Custom Sofa Co. the other day in search of the most comfortable, yet elegant looking sofa I could find. One where I could lay on for hours and even fall asleep on. There are so many options to choose from! Colors, fabrics, sofa legs, height, length, and cushions from firm to plush. Buying a furniture item like a sofa is so crucial because there's a balance with appearances and comfort and this place has it all. Owner was super cool and friendly. He is really knowledgeable and easy to work with. When I finally pull the trigger, I'm gonna order my sofa here read more

This review is long, long overdue. We were helped at both the Oakland and SF locations and found the folks at both locations to be incredibly helpful and accommodating. We got to take home different fabric samples to see what would work best in our space. We were able to customize the firmness and design of our couch, including arm shape, fabric, and length of the chaise, all for a decent price. We also got some pillows with matching fabric to complete the set. Special shoutout to the owners' sister, whose name had flown my mind, but who was super kind in kicking off the process for us and helping us think about the design and what would work best. Arrival and set up were super smooth, no complaints or worries about the product or the space being damaged. I'm including photos from when the couch first arrived. We've had it for probably 2 years now and haven't experienced sagging or dents in the seat cushions yet (we got the firmest foam). I'd definitely go back for any sofa needs in the Bay Area in future! read more

I had such a great experience here. Josh, Andre and Omar were all terrific! A special thanks to Josh for being patient with me and explaining all the options and listening to my thought process on options and changes I wanted to make. I will be back to place my order soon. You can really get exactly what you want/need in a sofa. Choose the style, color, fabric, length, seat height, arm width, etc. Great place if you need a sofa. The staff are great, very helpful, never pushy and they are fairly priced. read more

Custom Sofa Co. is amazing! We just received our sofa and it exceeded expectations! Dom is very knowledgeable, engaged, patient and helpful. He walked me through every step, discussed pros and cons of different choices and even diagramed out on the shop floor the sofa I was envisioning. He was very good with my kids too. I really can't recommend this business enough. You won't be disappointed! read more

Highly recommend Dom and his company for all your couch needs. It's a true friendly neighborhood business, run by good people. You can take samples home to try them in your space which is really nice. Everything is custom, if you want - from the fabric, legs, cushion type, adding a sleeper, adding length ... but their designs are kinda perfect as is! Nice to go in the store and try different densities of cushion firmness. We were replacing a couch from Wayfair that was functional, but not comfortable. So cool we got to buy a custom couch, that's so comfortable for only a little bit more! The delivery guys were absolute pros and fit the couch through our back entry to get it a tight corner. We absolutely love our couch! My star rating: 5 - I would be a regular customer 4 - would go back again 3 - probably try a different place 2 - not very satisfied 1 - turnaround and run read more

The experience, from looking at the sofa options, to the fabric and finishing choices was a dream come true, when shopping for any furniture. We had been looking for months and months at various stores, eventually choosing one at another store. Weeks went by and we finally heard that the fabric was out of stock and discontinued. We didn't like anything else that store offered. Then I remembered driving past the Custom Sofa Co. on Market Street and thought...why not. Well, the options for style and fabric and finishing, firmness of the cushions, down to choosing the legs, was amazing. We found a style that was perfect, and got to customize everything, including adding a few inches to the width of the sofa. It was just delivered today and we couldn't be happier. SO glad that other company ran out of the fabric. Add to the great furniture choice, working with Dom was a joy. So explanatory and helpful with design ideas and helping us choose all of the options, and he never attempted to upsell any item; explained the costs of each choice and would even recommend some items that were less expensive than others "because you don't need that with how you will be using the sofa." The cost for a custom sofa was also very reasonable. Just couldn't be happier with the entire experience! read more

Dom was friendly and welcoming, very helpful in walking us through the great selection + many customization options. Transparent pricing, no pressure or sale-sy tactics, actually Dom even talked us out of an expensive modification that we thought we needed but turns out we didn't, lol. Julio was also great, friendly and professional and made it really easy to organize the delivery. The final result was comfortable, looks great, and fit perfectly in our space. read more

I went there on a Saturday and Dom was basically a consultant to me in figuring out the custom couch I should get. I got an 87 inch couch with performance fabric and hardwood base for ~$2100. 15 year warranty. Really solid value imo. It was delivered 8 days later exactly in the time window that was scheduled. Really comfy and nice couch. Overall I have no complaints and highly recommend Custom Sofa Co. read more

Custom Sofa already has a 5-star review from their other customers, which I will personally affirm! They are good the first time around (for all the reasons others will tell you), but they are also great the second time around. Namely, I purchased a chaise lounge which, many months later, I decided didn't work for me. Dom designed a brand new sofa to replace the chaise lounge, charging me only a nominal amount. Everything about Custom Sofa is friendly and capable, even their delivery service . . . Wow. I'm happy. read more

Was recommended these guys from a couple of clients, and I have been beyond impressed with the service and the quality of the couch. Dom and Julio went above and beyond to help us out with the process, they let us take home tons of samples to test out, made great recommendations for us (As we have cats) and were able to craft a couch based on our exact recommendations. Truly every step of the way was customizable and they were helpful throughout the entire process. We received the new couch within 3 weeks of placing the order. I cannot express how much we absolutely love this couch, and what a major upgrade it has been over our 2 year old west elm couch that we outgrew super quickly. Maybe the best part is that they ended up being CHEAPER than some of the non-customizable brands we were looking at. Knowing that they are a local business that is there to help with any needs is a major plus. Dom and Julio are stand up guys, they do business right and they have amazing products. Seriously, if you are thinking about getting a new couch make this place your first stop and save yourself the time of looking elsewhere read more

Custom Sofa Co. is very customer-oriented. Dom was super helpful in finding the style to suit our requirements. But the best part was when the sofa was delivered--and wouldn't fit through the bend in our hallway. Dom came out to measure and helped us revise our sofa dimensions. They went out of their way to make a reasonable adjustment fair to all parties. I strongly recommend Custom Sofa Company! read more

In this day and age, it seems that stores have forgotten what true customer service means. Not these guys. We ordered a sofa through Custom Sofa but unfortunately, the manufacturer screwed up the dimensions. Any other company and we would have been left high and dry. But they completely understood the situation and ordered a new sofa from the manufacturer - this time with the correct dimensions. It made all the difference in the world to us. Simply put, they care about their customers. It may have cost them a few dollars to do the right thing. But it also bought them a lifetime's worth of free word-of-mouth advertising. This is business the way it ought to be run. read more

I ordered a chaise and am so happy with it! I'd spent hours online trying to find the perfect chaise. I was afraid to buy something I hadn't tested, and the delivery dates were so far away. Then I happened to walk by this store, and Dom was so helpful and friendly! I picked everything down to the inch and had my couch so much sooner than if I'd bought it online. So thrilled! It's comfy and it looks so pretty, too. read more

I have been renovating my home and was in need of a new furniture. I looked everywhere online and in stores for a sectional and just havent found something that I was in love with... until I found Custom Sofa Co! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great customer service and very communicative throughout the process - when the order is submitted, when to expect delivery, removal of my old couch, etc. Not only are this very knowledgeable on helping you design what you're looking for, but they definitely go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your purchase. PRICING: Depends but this small business is willing to work with you and make great suggestions to help save you some money where necessary - they do not try to upsell you on again. The pricing of my sectional was very reasonable especially at the size I bought (9.5 ft by 12 ft). Comparing prices with Crate & Barrel, CB2, West Elm, Living space and even Ikea - you will not be disappointed for the price and quality you would get here. On top of that, you get a 10 year warranty on the cushions if there's anything wrong or you're not happy, they'll work with you to replace them! CUSTOMIZATIONS: I was able to customize my sectional to the tee - sofa legs, the height and depth of the seats, the firmness of the cushions, the length of the sectional to the exact inch, the color, material, thickness and height of the arm rest -- there are soooo many options so I highly recommend that you take the time to visit the storefront and see things in person DELIVERY/TIMELINE: The fact that you get to customize your build, the delivery is SUPER fast anywhere from 4-6weeks but I was able to get my sectional sooner than the expected time. Shoutout to both locations (SF & Oakland), especially special shoutout to Diego and Maya as I'm in the works of placing my second order. Cannot recommend this place enough - Give them a try if you are exploring sofa options, you won't be disappointed!!! read more

Saw this shop pop up on Market Street and decided to check it out when we were in the market for a new sofa. And I'm glad we did! First, the folks in the showroom are super knowledgeable and friendly. You can tell it's a local business and they care about their craft. They have a variety of styles to chose from. And from there you can customize the size, fabric, legs, etc! Super convenient for apartment living and for old SF houses that don't typically conform to standard sizes. They helped us pick a style, fabric, and foam thickness that suited us. Even let us bring the swatches home to be sure it was a good fit. The prices were very reasonable for what seems to be a very well made product. It takes a few weeks to get the sofa but it was worth the wait. We love how our new sofa looks. The customer service here from start to finish was on point. And that's hard to find these days. I definitely recommend supporting this local business and getting your new sofa here! read more

Best Couch Ever!! I have lower back pain and I've had 4 different couches in ten years, each one never quite right and just not comfortable enough but thanks to Custom Sofa Co., we've finally have the best one. Every part of the couch was customizable. We picked the Telegraph design with Leslie linen fabric. We love the modern design and the fabric is incredibly cozy and soft but still sturdy and washable! Dom was so kind to let me borrow a ton of large fabric samples to take home which was amazing because it made it super quick and easy to pick a color and fabric that would be perfect for our apartment. It's always so hard to imagine from a tiny square swatch. Our couch took only 4 weeks to arrive and we absolutely love it. I'm so happy we upgraded to the 15 year warranty foam too for only $500 more. Great price, great quality and fantastic customer service. read more

This review is for Dom, who provided the most incredible service ever in designing a perfect sofa for our tricky San Francisco apartment living room. Dom totally understood our needs and was able to make suggestions for how to achieve our aesthetic and vision for the living room but also keep it super practical and functional for our family and lifestyle (ie low piling fabric that's kid and dog friendly and washes easily). Dom seriously knows his stuff--we learned so much from him and he made it possible for us to customize our sofa so that we would avoid the pitfalls we've experienced with every past sofas we've owned from CB2 and West Elm. At the end of the day, our sofa was cheaper and higher quality (!!) than what we would've gotten from a big box store. Thrilled and will be a customer for life. read more

After searching for weeks at the cookie cutter furniture stores, I visited Custom Sofa Co and couldn't be happier. Dom, the owner, and his team have a spectacular inventory that they, as advertised, will customize to your space. Our experience with Custom Sofa Co. was absolutely stellar. Dom and Josh were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about what kind of sofa styles and details we should consider. Their customer service was AMAZING, probably the best you will ever experience in any furniture store. When we started the hunt for a new couch, we were dreading going to so many furniture stores looking for a couch that we might like. I'm so happy that our first stop was Custom Sofa Co. and we decided right there that not only did we want to support a local business, we wanted a sectional that we will love to have in our home. Getting to pick the fabric, firmness, legs, and length of the couch was very exciting! The quick turnaround of 4-6 weeks and the price was an unbeatable value that is hard for other big store brands to beat. Delivery was also easy, and White Glove even took out old couches to the curb for Recology to pick up. We absolutely love our sectional, and I recommend Custom Sofa Co to everyone who is looking for their new sofa. If I ever need another sectional, I will be sure to return to Dom's store. read more

Savvy sofa counselors! I bought a customized chaise and, a couple months later, a chair-and-a-half from Custom Sofa. Dom and Julio are fantastic. They talked me through all sorts of possibilities, mixing and matching arms and backs of different styles. They encouraged me to take home large fabric samples to see colors at different times of days. They talked me through different levels of firmness. No rush, no pressure. They get that you are making a purchase that influences your sense of home, and they really want you to get something that's right for you. They brought up logistics considerations I hadn't considered (what stitching do you want for the cushions). They were responsie, the delivery went as expected.
