Called custom R.V. on 4/21 for a part & they said they had it and said they could install it which i wanted! part was a bit pricey from what I googled but its an R.V. shop!! Got the bill wich was fine but noticed they charged 11.50 on a noncash!! Credit card!! W.T.F. come on like the part wad overpriced as is!!!! So just be aware!! Pay CASH if u can!! Custom RV, Inc. located at 10100 E Interstate Amarillo, TX 79118 Be careful have any Class A RV work done at this service center. I requested a simple oil change and grease job. I asked them to service my Gerard awning because it wouldn't fully retract. I realize the worker was unskilled and the service was less than sub-standard. I caught him putting oil in my Class A RV by pouring the oil in a large CUP and then pouring it in the engine. He ended up overfilling the engine with oil and had to drain the oil down. He he began greasing the grease fittings and busted the left tie-rod fitting. He had the audacity to tell me He found the fitting already used. This is a 2024 that was having its first oil change and grease job! I realize he had never worked on a Gerard awning and stopped him. It costed $507 to get the grease fitting fixed plus $277 for a front end alignment. Lesson learned. read more

We had such a disappointing experience- and actually we feel we were taken advantage of. From our first interactions with this company, they were very dismissive. Before we left our RV with them they told us they'd get to it within a week, (which was the whole reason we took it to them instead of somewhere else) and they said they'd call us with pricing BEFORE they did any repairs. When we hadn't heard from them a couple of months later we called to check and see how it was going and they said they still hadn't gotten to it yet. A couple of more months later we called again and told them that if they hadn't started on it yet we would just come pick it up- so they said they'd get to it THAT DAY. After they'd had our RV for 5 months we called again and they said they were just finishing it up. 6 MONTHS after we dropped it off they called to say it was ready (after never having called to verify pricing, give us a repair plan, or tell us why it was taking so long- not a single phone call). When we picked up the RV, we were hit with a charge of $704.66- for an elective cosmetic repair, which we had imagined would be small. We talked to the owner, as we were not made aware of the cost beforehand or given the chance to decide whether or not we wanted to proceed. He argued and talked in circles for about 30 minutes about how "freight charges are just expensive" (this one was $317) and "everyone knows that." He also said that he doesn't understand why people who spend so much money purchasing RVs always want to gripe about repairs being too expensive. I was very patient with him, even after the unprofessionalism, and I told him that was not the case for us- we expect people to be compensated fairly for the jobs they complete. But I also tried again to make the point that we were never contacted about the expected price- or about anything, actually- and if we had been we would have said that we'd rather not do the repair at this time since it wasn't necessary, and cost much more than we expected. I also told him that we should have had an opportunity to check with other shops in town to see if they had the part in stock, which could have avoided freight costs altogether. These were all of the reasons he listed at different points in our conversation for why they bore no responsibility or accepted any fault: 1. We are short-handed (which I sympathized with) 2. Shipping is just expensive (which I also said I understand) 3. You didn't ask for a written estimate (though we asked for a call with a verbal one and they agreed beforehand) 4. Sometimes other RV owners just abandon their RV instead of paying (random...but I also sympathized and said we did not intend to do that) 5. If we have the money to own an RV we should have the money for any repair (very unprofessional judgement that he doesn't have context for) 6. This is not an expensive repair- you should see some of the others we've done (Who gets to decide what is expensive? That is relative to each family and their situation) We were honestly floored that any small business is able to run this way. We asked him to consider the standard practices that he and his family would encounter at other businesses in town, such as auto mechanics and medical procedures- each of which would ensure you understood pricing BEFORE performing the service. We only asked for him to consider that we were not afforded the same experience and thought it only right for him to take SOME responsibility for that. He said, "I bet you would like that, but we don't see that we've done anything wrong. So I guess I'll just wish you a Merry Christmas." Then he sat in silence and refused to say anything else. My wife and I purchased a new 2023 Alpha Wolf from Custom RV in Amarillo this month (4/2023). We had the best experience with Cory Gable our salesman. (five star!!!) He was awesome and bent over backwards to work with us and make our experience a great one! We had looked at other places, but felt very pressured to buy and finance through them and they didn't want us to talk to our bank. No high pressure sales whatsoever here at Custom RV! Cory answered our questions and was very professional, and knew what he was talking about. He truly listened to us and knew what we wanted. The shop did a great job getting the Camper road worthy and answered our questions. Just a great group of people to work with, from greeters at the front door, sales people, cashiers and shop repair crew.  We will buy from them again. I normally do not do these reviews, but I felt I need to after how I was treated by Cory. I called and got some info from him, including prices, specs on a trailer and how much they would give us for our trade. He told me that he would send me pics of the trailer we were interested in. After calling for two days and asking for those pics (and getting the run around every time I called him) I called back to speak with the owner. Everything he had told us was not on the up and up. He basically lied to the owner about us and the prices he gave us. I was given two deal sheets with way different list prices! Cory basically lied to us and was covering himself up and did not want to call me back because of it. We bought from Custom RV years ago and had a fantastic experience with a different salesman so we wanted to go back, but this time was different. I was made out to be a villain and all we were trying to do was get an honest quote. We are business owners too and cannot believe how we were treated through this. On a good note, we are now in the process of buying from a different dealership that was awesome to us! read more

We are happy to be the first to rate this business. We were passing through with our travel trailer and needed a new 7 pin plug end. We called and they had it in stock for a reasonable $11. We installed it right there in the parking lot but we had a wiring issue. Two of the employees came out, helped us trouble shoot, gave us some very useful free advice, helped us test it, and off we went. We really appreciated the great customer service! read more

Just bought our first RV from here. Amazing customer service. My only complaint....we bought a used RV..a year old...I have spent hours and hours cleaning it. It's a bit frustrating when you spend 30k only to get it home and have to clean it from top to bottom because it's so nasty. Also...there is pet urine odor that I am beyond pissed about. read more

Bad customer service. RV techs have little to no training . They bandaid repairs and over charge customers. Will not go again.

My husband and my 3 young children were traveling through Amarillo today while on their way home to Las Vegas. He started having problems with the generator and no air conditioning in the RV. It's 100 degrees! They stopped in at Custom RV to see if they would look at it for them and not only did they say no but they said they had customers in front of him that were a lot more important! No help for travelers. I would stay away from them and give them no business whatsoever!!! read more

When driving I-40 on our way home to Michigan, a wheel came off our 5th wheel. Custom RV was recommended by the towing company, and we are so thankful we were towed here! Owner, office staff, and mechanics made us feel so comfortable amid a bad situation. We were told a new axle would have to be built and shipped by Lippert which added days to our visit. All these guys are honest, with customer service truly their #1 priority! We are so grateful to have been taken care of so well. Thank you so much!! read more

We were on I-40 in Amarillo when we found we had a problem with a wheel on our Fifth Wheel travel Trailer. We decided to spend the night there and have it checked in the morning. Before we could get it parked for the night, a wheel fell off!! Thankfully, we were going very slowly. Custom RV was recommended. They were wonderful. We had to have an axle replaced. The trailer is just two years old! Custom RV communicated well with us and with our insurance. They determined what the problems were, explained them clearly and let us know when issues arose that might take extra time. They had our Fifth Wheel repaired quickly and correctly. I couldn't ask for better service. Very friendly and efficient mechanics and front office staff. Pricing is quite reasonable. read more

I wish they have one that had NO stars on it or I would have chose that one. This is the worst rv place ever!! We went to buy a rv through them and we were trading ours we have now in. Well once we went through the whole process of getting a loan for the RV that we picked out the man ended up calling in saying that he changed his mind need I remind you we were fixing to get the check in for the loan for the RV..he said because we have a house cat(a cat that we adopted and is fully potty trained and also a very old cat so she doesn't do much) and he said that he is afraid our rv won't sell because of that reason once we traded it into him. Need I remind you he never came to see what our camper look like he said that the smell from a cat would make the RV not sale ...... My rv smells nothing like a cat! Oh and also because the Good LORD came down in his dream one night and told him not to buy this camper from us because it won't sale... I think he needs more than Jesus and God in his life!! The nearby KOA sent us there when we noticed a leak as we were pulling out yesterday morning to continue our trek from Tampa to Albuquerque. We got there soon after they opened, and they were short-handed and didn't think that they could fit us in. However, when the owner heard that we were on our way to the Balloon Fiesta, he told the tech to work on us right away! Now that is great customer service! We were happily on our way within the hour, thanks to them. read more

The most horrible customer service we have ever experienced. After purchasing a new Artic Wolf from them last year, we had some hail damage that we needed to have repaired. We took our travel trailer to them in December to start the repairs, and to have some warranty work performed on a few small items. Over 3 months later, we get a call and they say the repairs have been done and our trailer is ready to go. We go to pick up the trailer and a good portion of the repairs were not completed. After pointing out to them everything they had not repaired, we were asked to leave. Gladly!! We left with our trailer never to return. Worst customer service we have ever experienced. If this is how you treat your customers who purchase your products, we will gladly take our business to another deserving dealership. Choosing no stars is not an option on this rating, but if it were, it would still be too high of a rating. read more
