NOT TRUE JIM P!!!! I happende to be in the store when you were there and thats not what happened at all. After you got your Exam, you told Mr Havelock you wanted to order your Eyeglasses on the INTERNET. He wrote you your Prescription, as you asked and you told him you needed more information telling the internet company how to make the eyeglasses. He informed you that information like that was not part of the Eye Examination. You then got VERY Nasty---telling him that he had to give it to you so you could get your internet eyeglasses. You had a 'melt-down' in the office!! You were arrogant and RUDE, and very embarrasing---as well as loud. Actually, you were quite funny for a College Student!!! I know times may be had for you, and you may be going thru some difficult times, but thats no reason to act the way you did. People like you are an embarrasment. You expect everyone to jump when you get rude. I'm sure Custom Eyes Optical dont need customers like you. If you expect people that make and sell eyeglasses to give you extra information so you get internet eyeglasses, thats just morally depraved. I'm glad I decided to rate Custom Eyes--because I saw this and know ur just being a baby. A friend told me about this place. Its great. They are so helpful and friendly. They have all kinds of frames from Expensive designers to their special for just $25(I got a pair for a spare.) Theres no pressure and I didnt feel slighted because I didnt buy an expensive frame---like the other place I went. They know all about the products and dont sell you stuff that you dont need. And yes---the puppies are great. So, if you're trying to be sleezy, like JIM P, and want special information to order your internet eyeglasses--go elsewhere. But if you want friendly people that know all about their products and give great service and pricing--go here!!! read more

I have been a customer for 8 years.Why do I keep coming back? My first pair of eye glasses ever, was purchased from a large factory style store.You know,the ones that are found in the malls.Well those glasses were never right, a total waste of money.So I went to an opthamolagist and got glasses.They were better,NOT GREAT and holy crap,my wallet was empty for a while.Then I stumbled upon Fred and Suzie at Custom Eyes.Great service,and knows everything about glasses.Fred makes the glasses in a lab at the store and has been doing it for a long time, so he has to know something.Most other stores send the glasses out to labs to be made by gosh knows who or how long they've been doing that job.some fly by night temp help possibly.Did you know that there are different quality of lenses and different coatings and materials that lenses can be made of. I didn't until I GOT MY FIRST PAIR OF GLASSES FROM CUSTOM EYES OPTICAL.Thats why I keep coming back.Good quality same knowlegable people that take care of me.I don't have the best taste when it comes to picking glasses out but Suzie lets me know what style,what color.what size would look good on me, she has good fashion sense. I've been a client of Custom Eyes Optical since their inception. They are an experienced mom and pop store that offer personal service, unlike large chains for quality care. The owners have many years of optical experience which makes the difference for me. I have challenging, prescriptions to fill, and the art of correctly designing proper fit for progressive lenses that allow smooth transition locations for viewing distance, reading and in - between is what Fred has skillfully, mastered. Many folks I speak with say they've tried progressive bifocals with no success. I then send them to see Fred fo have their measurements checked by him, because there's a real art to doing this correctly. Susie is consistently on top of every, remaining detail that allows the store to run efficiently and smoothly. You may have to wait your turn when they're busy, but it's worth the wait to take advantage of both Susie and Fred's knowledge base. They will honestly tell you also, if a frame you like will work correctly with your prescription or not. Know what to look for and you'll be very satisfied with Custom Eyes service because they won't let you walk out if the lenses are not perfect! read more

Yeah JIM P--I was there when you had your Temper-Tantrum in the Office. But you're lying with your review!!! You asked for special measurements so you could order Eyeglasses on the Internet. The Doctor Explained that eyeglass measurements aren't part of your eyeglass prescriptions. You then had your 'melt down.' It was embarrasing to see a college student act the way you did. Those people are very nice and still treated you courteously, even though you didnt deserve it. You were very RUDE!!! I got eyeglasses there for just $25!!! They were very helpful and friendly. If you expect people who make a living selling Eyewear to give you eyeglass measurements so you can order on the internet(as you said to them) you're just Morally Depraved. By the way, I asked 3 stores if this measurement was part of the Prescription and they said no!! I asked if I wanted it would they give it to me anyway and they said they didnt. I have been going to Custom Eyes for the past 7 years, and I can say that I LOVE going back! They have a sense of humor along with a sense of professionalism that creates the perfect experience to buy some glasses. Great location, great people, and great with their customers! Along with their amazing selection in glasses, they also have great sports goggles for kids which came handy for my 7 year old who plays lacrosse. Prices are also amazing! I have gone to them so many times to have some things fixed with my glasses, such as the screw fell out, or the nose piece broke off, etc. They have always been able to fix those small but significant damages with no charge, unless it required more than just a minor fixing which is due to happen if you continue to sit on your glasses as often as I do hahaha. I just recently bought the most amazing pair of black and neon green glasses that I cant get enough of! Their advice and feedback is great and I will continue to go back to them each time! read more

Even though we live around the corner from the store, I would travel many miles to this optical store to have my progressive lens glasses made by their optician, Mr. Fred Havelock. I have found Mr. Havelock to be highly professional and an extreme perfectionist (which is a VERY good thing) when it comes to making custom lenses. The store is co-managed by Mrs. Havelock (and her three adorable puppies) and I very much appreciate her expertise with helping me select the perfect eyeglass frames and styles. In addition, this store is one of the few stores in all of Baltimore to carry the complete line of SwissFlex eyewear, a style that I just adore! My children, too, wear glasses and Mr. and Mrs. Havelock have perfected their vision with stylishly excellent glasses at very reasonable prices. Five stars! read more

The owners actually helped me and gave me so much attention that I felt that I was a member of their family. They were quite knowledgeable about my prescription(I have an astigmatism,which can sometimes be a problem),fit me with a very updated and reasonably priced pair of glasses,and spent a lot of time with me to choose the perfect frame for my face. I was delighted to get a phone call to pick up my glasses in less than a week. Any other store would have taken at least two weeks to complete my order. Having worn glasses and contacts for more than 30 years I have been to my share of optometrists/eye care providers. The folks at Custom Eyes have been by far the best I have used. I have decent vision but bad astigmatism so Fred was able to recommend several different contacts that would work for me. After several trials of different brands we decided on the best fit and they have been absolutely wonderful. They are even matched 1-800 Contacts so I feel like I got a great deal! My wife has a rather heavy Rx and Fred and Suzy were able to find a great lightweight option that is very fashionable, she even got a pair of Rx sunglasses something she has not been able to do. I've been going to Custom Eyes for many years. They feel like family to me. My father had a tragic accident, which left him blind in one of his eyes. He doesn't trust easy, but with Fred there was an instant bond. Fred made sure he understood what was going on every step of the way. If any problems came up either Fred or Susan would be right on it. My father lives out of State and has a hard time going back and forth. They made it an extremely smooth process and had his exam and new glasses done in such little time. I can tell they really value their customers and strive for great customer service. Got great glasses here. Never wore contacts so I didnt get them. Service was great and I didnt get designer glasses, although they had them there. Read this JIM guys stuff and didnt find anything like that there. I called 2 Eyeglass places just to ask about this Pupil measurement thing. They said that its used to order eyeglasses and no customer has ever asked for it. They said that it would only be used to order over the Internet---so looks like JIM is BUSTED!!!!!!! I find it pretty underhanded and dirty to blame people for things like that. These people were really nice and helpful.
