WHY is it I go somewhere that has GREAT reviews {THAT'S why I went}, & my experience is less than stellar??
I wrote this quite a few months ago; why didn't I post it then?? Maybe bc @ that time there were no other poor reviews, but now there are so here goes:
First I wait over a wk for my glasses {even David said that's unusual}. Second, they came in the wrong colour, so now I have to wait again. Third, I call about a wk later @ 2:15p on a Thursday & get an "after hrs" recording, so I'm thinking maybe something's wrong, they had to close, etc & I'd just try back the next day, so I leave a msg. However, I get a call back @ 6:45p {4.5 hrs later} that my glasses are there {but it was too late to go, as this was indeed an "after hrs" call back}, & not even on the phone # I asked to be called back on {there are two on file, & I verbally specified the #}...maybe this isn't a big deal, but had the call come in earlier, & could've picked them up, I'd have missed out; it just added to all else not going so well. After all, there's a reason when someone specifies a # to call on.
This doesn't negate that the staff is friendly & helpful, however, when it was known that my glasses were incorrect, {needless to say, I wasn't a happy camper}, I was kinda surprised that David {the owner} looked exasperated, & shortly after, walked away...prior to that, he was very nice. I even said something to the gal helping me, but she made light of it {I mean really, what could she say??}. I just hope that none of this repeats today...
I must say I've been wearing glasses all my life, & ALL this was a 1st for me.
Today: I receive another msg {nice} on the wrong # {not so nice} to come in. I arrive, & much to my pleasant surprise, in the tray are several colours of the same frame to choose from - very nice {**no case, not that I even noticed, but this is a preface}. I narrow it down to two & I admit, I was having a tough time deciding, & finally I do, & David is mounting the lenses into them.
After all is said & done {here comes the ** I prefaced earlier}, I ask for a case - uh, is that unusual? Not that I have to explain, but the ONLY reason I asked was bc I was going to drive home wearing my sunglasses, so where to put the new ones?? He looks @ me as if I asked for something unusual, then says, not asks, "didn't I give you one." I say, "no - if you mean was there one in the tray, no; would you like to ck my bag?" If he hadn't looked @ me that way, I'd NEVER have said that. Look, IF I'm going to steal {which wasn't happening}, it's NOT going to be a glass case...so he offers up a hard case, & a soft one. I say I don't like the colour of the hard case, so he hands me the soft one. I sit down, then tell the girl I really don't want it & hand it back. I mention I didn't like the colour of the initial hard case to which David THEN says there are other colours; well why not say that when I 1st said to him that I didn't like it, rather than wait til he hears me tell the gal?? Hmmmm - all of this just not nice.
So I'm ready to leave, & I ask the gal if I can use any type of eyeglass cleaner; no, she didn't try to sell me any, rather, she hands me a spray bottle, & says I can always come back for free refills. Yes, that's very nice, but had I not asked 'bout using a particular type of cleaner, well, I guess there'd have been, "No Cleaner For You," like "No Soup For You." For you younger folks, that's a classic line from an episode of, "Seinfeld." I guess that followed, "No Case For You." UGH - it's ALL such petty little things.
Again I say, I've been wearing glasses all my life, & I've NEVER had such a poor experience. UGH - maybe I reminded of him of someone he dislikes...wow.
Would I return? Would you? Um, when I need more cleaner, I'll buy some...
Pièce de résistance: I'm home, wearing them. I then hold them up to the light, & WHAT do I see?? FINGERPRINTS {NO, not mine} - REALLY? You couldn't clean them after you mounted them? It just made them feel SO dirty, & he obv didn't give a hoot. HOW do you NOT clean the lenses after you've mounted them, KNOWING your fingers have been all over them, even if you don't care for the customer?? read more
