Called in multiple times to get racks attached to my jeep. Mark gave me an estimate of 300 bucks. When I came in they said they need about 2 hours. He also said that it will be slightly under 300 dollars. I come back after 2.5 hours still not done, but I was okay with that. Waited about 10 min until closing. He brings me a bill for $612.00 dollars. He said 4 hours of labor was $612.00. This is double the price they originally told me. I was left confused. Said thanks and now on my way. Should have went to rack attack, but they told me $400, but I gave a shot to custom connections. If they told me honestly before they needed time and it would have cost me more I would have taken my business elsewhere. I'm not gonna complain about the work because it was done well, though left my car from the inside with dust particles from the drilling. Definitely would not recommend. Honesty is number one for me, and these guys were not honest about the labor price. That is why the one star. read more

I went to Custom Connection to install my cold air intake. I had an appointment for this. While I was there, I asked if they could also install my throttle body spacer. They did so at no cost. Was referred to this common by a family member who bragged about their service and what they did to his truck. I have exact same truck, and wanted exactly same thing to be done. I was referred to Bob. I called him Thursday and he said he doesn't know is schedule and how busy he is and asked me to call Monday. I called Monday and he says that he has me on the list Vince something opens up he will call me. 20 days later no call nothing. Also they don't keep records of what was done on your truck/car or anything. I said I want it just like what you guys dId for my family me never. He said bring me pictures so my guys can see. I'm very upset. Took my Nissan NV 2500 to Custom Connection, 55 W Irving Park Rd, Roselle, IL 60172 for the roof installation of 2 Maxxfans. The place has great reviews online for van conversions and "Lenny", who assured me he has done like 5K vans over past 40 years (and who also has a good online rep for being knowledgeable and helpful), and I discussed where I wanted them placed. Inside the van I told him I wanted one at front of the van and the other at the rear. I pointed out where, and I have photos showing that they initially marked the locations as per my indications. I advised Lenny that I'm a novice, and we discussed other issues. I advised him I have 3 solar panels (600 watts total) & intended to install 2 large panels sideways across the roof between the fans. I showed him a photo of one panel where the panel size is evident. I waited 3 plus hours on-site for the job to be done but did not see them do the work. I even spoke with Lenny concerning other questions I had about van conversions while waiting. During this time Lenny only indicated to me that he had to move the front fan back because of the NV2500 front roof seam (all NV 2500's have front and rear roof seams). So what do they do? They moved BOTH fans inward on the roof by over a foot apiece. They did not consult me about the change or tell me there was a problem. They just did it. I have 2 fans now breaking up and hogging the center roof space leaving narrow spaces all around them. Now, I have to restructure my entire solar because I now can't FIT my panels on the roof. I may barely be able to fit only one of the $700 total in new Newpowa monocrystalline panels crosswise between the two fans. I face the large expense & time of having to return the panels (if I can) and the near impossibility of finding equivalent wattage, quality, and size panels to now fit around the fans. If consulted, I might have just installed one fan or decided just not to do the installation without further considering my options. Lenny's response after was pure arrogance & denial of any fault claiming that I just had a "wrong" plan from the start. He only offered an assist with solar panels, but I'm not trusting him now to have my best interests in mind on anything. Lenny should have stated his misgivings upfront during consult, not after and proceeded with install only on my say-so. Despite his claim of 5K van conversions, in retrospect, I have to think this is the 1st NV 2500 he's dealt with. NV 2500 - 3500 roof seams are well-known to anyone who knows these vans. I'm hearing now from other folks not to outsource camper conversion work to any van conversion service, because they end up doing what is easiest for them to do; not what is most important for you. I'm posting this as a warning to anyone in Chicagoland thinking to deal with Custom Connection. They may be okay for regular truck accessories, but not for work needed to convert a van into a camper. They are arrogant and believe they know it all which is only going to create an issue for you. BEWARE! DON'T use them!!!! read more

My mechanic referred me to Bob and Chris at Custom Connection. It is where he went for his cover for his new pick up truck. Got a great cover at a great price. Installation was fast and perfect. Don't get a BAIID here. I made an appointment to get mine installed and was on time, but the only man who could put it in was an hour and half late so I just sat there. I called at 515 and they were closing at 6 but Bill said no problem come on in. I researched this bed cover online and could have had it shipped to my home and then installed myself...but why? It was the same price online except for the tax, but there was no additional charge for installation. Granted they are easy to install but I was just not in the mood to mess with it. Great service, and I mean great. I had a remote start and backup camera installed. The camera and mirror with screen look factory! Clean work. The remote start had a glitch a couple days after the install and they were great and handling the issue. Took the vehicle back in right away and resolved the problem with no headaches to me. I've read the reviews of their products and installations. Let me tell you a different side. My job requires me to work a very odd schedule. I came in on a day off with my wife to get some things done on my pick up. They couldn't be done that day so we scheduled it for Monday when my wife could give me a ride after we left the truck. Due to a miscommunication we got there Monday morning and found no one there. I went home. THAT AFTERNOON I received a call from them apologizing for the mix up. We scheduled for the very next day. I live close so I'm sure they can't do this for everyone, but my wife couldn't give me a ride that day. They offered to have someone give me a ride home. I actually received a call much sooner than I could have expected them to be finished. And they offered to have someone pick me up to get the truck. I declined and later my wife drove me there. So a missed appointment, a personal call, a ride and great installation. You'd think that would be enough. Went to the store after checking the work. And clumsy me "lost" an attached set of different keys (obviously not the driving ones) Searched the parking lot, nothing. We went back to Custom Connections. It was a little after closing time. Regardless they searched the front of the store, moving files etc; searched outside, really helped us look. Eventually we found them, had fallen way under seats and too dark to see without a flashlight (which I didn't have) Now none of this had anything to do with their work. Yet the next day I got a call from them inquiring if I found my keys. There are probably lots of shops that do this kind of work. But the work was awesome, my truck looked beautiful.
