What can I say about working with Brian? If you wished you had a realtor that makes you feel like your their only client, that's Brian. I started out selling a property with Brian and before I closed on that sale, he helped me and my wife buy our new house. Every time we reached out to talk or to ask questions, he was readily available. We also appreciated his thoughtfulness about our concerns and his ability to explain his approach and strategy. I bought my first property with Brian 8 years ago and was so satisfied with working with him that I made sure to sell that same property with him when the time came. Between that long gap of time, Brian made himself available to me to help me consider making decisions about selling over the years. But I never felt pushed to sell, which is important because many realtors may see the potential payday and persuade you that way. I am so glad I stayed in contact him and took his advice on things to consider. If I had sold when I first thought to I would have left almost $100k on the table. Thanks to Brian I was able to think through why it made sense in my particular situation to wait a bit. Thinking about our experience buying our house in DC and selling our condo with Brian, I can't imagine that many realtors could handle a simultaneous sale and purchase with clients overseas and do it so competently as Brian did. #realtorforlife read more

Brian is a superb realtor who is always considerate and thoughtful to be looking out for your best interests. He promptly thinks of and attends to every detail making working with him a pure delight. Brian has a great depth of experience. We have benefited immensely from his wise counsel about how to approach a bidding situation and what to look out for when you are considering a new house. He is equally excellent at guiding you to the best outcome when he is helping you sell a house. We would never think of going to anyone else for real estate support in the DC area. In addition, he is a delightful person who is a joy to be with. read more

Brian came highly recommended to us, and as first time homebuyers we absolutely understood why after working with him and Angela for just shy of two months. He's very thoughtful and matter-of-fact in his guidance, without being pushy. Since we had been visiting open houses on our own for a few months, both of them put in the effort to familiarize themselves with our tastes and sensibilities. By the third property on the tour they had curated for us, they were practically reading our minds! Their attention to detail at each listing we visited was very much appreciated. Brian helped shape our vision in considering the pros & cons of our top picks, advised us wisely throughout the negotiation and contractual processes, answered the infinite panicked questions we (okay, "I"... admittedly my home-shopper personality can best be described as "anxious Pomeranian") sent his way, and reached out to make sure that we weren't falling behind on crucial paperwork milestones. Angela was equally friendly in providing great insights along the way, and she made sure we felt looked after-- even during the dullest steps. The MLS portal was a little clunky, but was useful enough to provide feedback and consolidate our favorites in one place. My favorite referral of Brian's was definitely the mortgage lender; it's always a good sign when the first major referral mirrors the same responsiveness and expertise in his industry. That said, we're also looking forward to checking out Angela's landscaper rec. This realtor group seriously knows their stuff. read more

Awesome to work with and honest! All the qualities you want in a realtor. I'm happy to recommend him and would absolutely work with him again. read more

Brian Cusick was the realtor for us. We were looking for an agent that could not only represent us as sellers but fight for us. The market these days takes a realtor that is not only knowledgeable about property, trends, and negotiations but someone that is willing to push back and stand up to offers and buyers and explain why an offer is strong or weak and make recommendations to both parties. Brian didn't hold back when it came to suggestions for changes to our home to make it the best it could be and did he ever make it shine! Our only concern with Brian was the distance between his office and our home - would he be available to come over and talk through offers or check on setups, etc. That was never a problem. Brian came over and was available whenever we seeked his attention. Brian makes the process seamless and simple. You really can't go wrong with his expertise and experience. Highly recommend! read more

Consummate professional, who always does his homework, and always delivers the best price no matter what the market.

Brian is as knowledgeable and savvy about the DC real estate market as it gets. He helped my husband and me land our dream home on the first try, which is nearly unheard of in today's market. He was attentive to meeting our needs from beginning to end. His attention to detail ensured the closing process was seamless as well. Brian is attentive, professional, responsive, and keenly aware of the many levers to push and pull to get his clients what they are looking for. We shared his contact with friends looking to buy because we trust he is the best out there and will deliver from them as he delivered for us. read more

The most professional and responsive realtor I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Brian's extensive experience in the DC market lead to a successful purchase on our first bid despite the highly competitive current state. Brian assistance also proved essential in the speedy sale of my previous property. He recommended a few minor improvements and provided a contractor that performed exceptional quality work with a super fast turn around time that allowed us to get the property on the market within a week. read more

Brian was wonderful to work with and very knowledgeable and extremely communicative about the entire process. Highly recommend!!

Brian was referred to me as a realtor by a friend of mine. I couldn't be more happy with Brian! He was professional, responsive, crisp, and very knowledgeable about the DC/MD/VA areas. As a first time buyer I had a lot of questions and Brian was patient with answering all of them. I highly recommend Brian for anyone looking to buy or sell a home! read more

For a first time home buyer - with a whole lot of questions and concerns - Brian and Angela were exactly the right folks to get me through from early exploring to final closing and beyond. Bought a condo in DC with them. Brian made sure he knew what I was actually looking for and went with me to many places with me, giving on-the-ground advice and reality checks that helped me quickly winnow down the places that really worked for me. I even backed off just before I was about to put in an offer on a place because I wanted to cool my jets and think through all the finances (since it was new to me). Brian completely understood and I also understood that the place could disappear. Importantly he did not just drop me like a hot potato, which is what I assumed might happen. We kept looking at places for a bit while I sorted out my details and - fortunately - when I felt I really was good to go, the place was still there and still looked like a good choice. All through the initial signing through to closing - and beyond - he and Angela very quickly answered every question I had and connected me with folks if I had more complex questions. I'm usually allergic to seller-pressure but here I felt there was a lot of honesty and lack of pressure in the process. While my particular purchase wasn't terribly complicated, some friends have gone with Brian's group (that's how I was introduced to him) and had similar great experiences. In contrast, other friends had purchased similar properties this past year using other realtors (call them Realtor X) and were less enthusiastic about their experiences. That made me realize I was very fortunate that I had a group that made a stressful process comparatively easy. If I'd ended up with Realtor X, I think it would have been a much more worry-ridden experience. So count me as grateful! Strong 5-stars from me. read more

Brian was so patient and helpful. He really maximized our time by mapping out properties we were interested in ahead of time and then let us go at our own pace. He shared so much valuable knowledge with us as first time home buyers. We really appreciated all his help getting us into our new home! read more

Wow. Brian is more than a realtor; he is a partner in selling your biggest asset. I can't imagine having sold my house without Brian's direction. Brian had been my realtor when I bought my house so I knew we were a good match. He showed the same patience, eye for value, and attention to detail in preparing me to sell my house as he did in helping me buy it. I brought Brian in early in the process and he stuck with me the whole way. From figuring out which improvements to make (and which would be nice but wouldn't add value) to selecting flooring and paint colors to managing contractors, cleaners, stagers, and emergency contractors after a storm, Brian brought out the best in my house without ever walking over my opinion or bulldozing through my concerns. I literally pummeled the poor guy with questions, concerns, anxiety, and nonsense and he dealt with it all with the skill of a great bartender. When it came time to price and evaluate offers, Brian never skimped on time or pushed me beyond my comfort zone. He went with me when I set an aggressive initial price and never said "told you so" when we reduced to his initial suggestion. Seriously, Brian is the guy you can trust with your biggest purchase or your biggest sale (and he'll give you great decorating advice for free). read more

Brian and his team worked tirelessly to help me find the perfect home in a very difficult market. Brian is a top-flight agent -- the best I've dealt with. I was dreading the process of selling my condo, especially given that I was selling during a pandemic. Brian made the process pain-free. From the very start, his communication was lucid and concise, and he was compassionate and professional throughout the whole process. I doubted that I'd be able to sell my condo, but I put my trust in him every step of the way. And it paid off. I had an offer less than two days after my condo went on the market. I will plan to use him for any future real estate transactions, and I've already recommended him to my friends. read more

I called Brian on my birthday inquiring about a house I didn't think would be possible for me to purchase. 30 days later, my wife and I moved into our dream home and have been loving every second of it with a financial plan that is very manageable. Brian and his team were incredible to work with. They were highly knowledgeable, efficient, solution-oriented, and honest when answering all of our questions and offering us advice. Brian continues to answer my questions as I am first-homeowner. read more

I worked with Brian to buy a coop in Washington, DC back in 2014 and then again to sell the same property this fall. Brian is incredibly responsive and made me feel comfortable, as a first time home buyer and seller, in the process. As an out-of-state seller, I was nervous about entrusting the sale of my DC condo with a broker on the opposite side of the country. But a friend referred me to Brian, and from our first conversation, I knew I was in very good hands. I'm a former real estate agent (from many years ago), but I was a first-time home seller. Brian had excellent, no-pressure suggestions for how to stage and market my property in order to maximize my sale price and rate of return. I never felt pressure, but his confidence and flexibility were extremely reassuring -- and he was right about everything he suggested! There were a few things to do to prep the unit for sale, and I couldn't believe how quickly he was able to accomplish that -- literally within a few days! During the listing and negotiation periods, I hope I wasn't too high-maintenance, but the few times when I got anxious, he listened patiently and respectfully, helping me maintain a sense of perspective. Brian understands the local market *very* well, and he is able to identify practical solutions that work for both the buyer and the seller. There's so much at stake in a real estate transaction, and it was tremendously comforting to know that I had Brian on the ground in DC. My condo was under contract in about two weeks, which is well below average for the neighborhood and price range, and it closed at full price! You can't ask for a better result than that -- the fact that Brian and Jeff are so incredibly pleasant to talk to is just the icing on the cake. This experience was all of the things you want from a real estate transaction: quick, fair, well-organized, and professional. I will also add that he did a few personal favors for me during my absence from the property, and I couldn't have asked for a kinder or more accommodating broker. read more

This is the second time I've used Brian and there's at reason I went back to him. My boyfriend and I were looking to buy a condo. We had somewhat specific requests and within two days of looking with Brian and his partner Angela were able to find something. What I like most about Brian is his knowledge of DC real estate. He knows what a good deal is and what is overpriced. He is also very honest. He wants clients to be happy. I will definitely use again when it comes time to sell. read more

Brian and the whole Cusick Group team are the best! I've been very fortunate to be able to work with him for several years, through 2 buys and 1 sale. He and the team have always been incredibly helpful, responsive and available, easy to talk things through with, thorough and detailed, attentive and striving to make sure every experience feels and is personal, very knowledgeable about both the market itself and every part of the process for both buying and selling, and well connected with a great network of other experts for things like financing & closing / home inspections / home sale prep & staging to ensure a seamless process from start to finish. They can make you feel comfortable and in the best of hands from before even listing or looking until closing and are able to patiently encourage and answer every single question you may have at any point. And Brian treats his clients in a genuine manner where it's a true personal relationship and not just a transactional arrangement - he and the team are available to help with home related questions etc even when there isn't any buying or selling on the horizon. He even guided me successfully through a home sale and purchase in midst of COVID-19 without any hiccups! Highly recommended. read more

Brian and John were great to work with! First of all, they've been doing this for a long time. That means they were more than able to handle every aspect of helping us buy our home. They knew everything there is to know about a VA loan, which is what we were trying to do. It also means that they know a lot of people in this business. The lender they referred us to (Alex at First Home Mortgage) was just as wonderful as Brian and John and just as great to work with! Also, the inspection company was cool - they use infrared! (Capitol Infrared) Brian and John always made themselves available to us whether it be via text, email, or in person (Brian). We really appreciated that. We also felt like Brian was always advocating for us. It was kind of fun to be a "client" for whom advocacy was required since both my husband and I are attorneys, so we are usually on the other side of that scenario. Even when some small issue came up at closing, he was assertively (but professionally) ensuring that we were taken care of vis a vis the selling agent. (Very small issue - the window lock wasn't fixed like it was supposed to be. My husband and I didn't even notice when we walked through the morning of closing, but Brian got there 30 minutes before us and checked everything that was supposed to be done. He made sure that a repairman came out later that day and fixed it!) The thing that really put Brian and John over and above what we could have hoped for in a realtor was actually when things DIDN'T go well. We tried to purchase a condo before the one we ended up purchasing. We were under contract with the seller and had paid for the appraisal and the inspection. Only then did we get to see the condo docs - and they were absolutely bananas. (I started typing out the whole thing, but I just deleted it so as to not bore you with the details.) Point is - the deal fell through, and I was pretty much heartbroken. (This was to be my husband's and my first home we bought together, after 8 years of marriage! And I LOVED that place - I saw our whole future there, etc, etc). After that experience last summer, I didn't want to go through this process again. In addition to being really sad about losing that condo because other people were sneaky, I was angry that we had paid for the inspection and the appraisal. I explained all of this to Brian when he asked why I didn't want to look for another condo. He was awesome about it. He assured me that what happened was highly unusual, and that he was sure he could find a great home for us, and then he did something really crazy - he offered for him and John to pay for the next appraisal and inspection so we wouldn't have to incur the cost twice. What!? Who does that?! We were so blown away by their generosity that we decided to give it another shot (a few months later). We ended up finding this great condo - which is actually way better than the first one. When we were unsure about the windows/lighting, Brian insisted that we come back in the morning to see how it looked then. (SO BRIGHT and SUNNY! Great idea, Brian!) We decided we wanted to make an offer - but we couldn't afford the asking price. The most we could afford was 15K under asking. Oh - and there was another couple who was also working on an offer. (EEK! Real estate buying is so intense!) Our initial thought was to offer lower than what our max would be so that we had some room to negotiate. We asked Brian what to do. He advised that since our best offer was quite a bit under asking, and since there was another bid that same day, he thought we should just make our sincere best offer and then, even if things didn't work out, we'd know we gave it everything we had. (He wisely advised us that it would be pretty awful if we lost the condo because we tried to under bid by 5K so we had some wiggle room. Great point!) We heard back from Brian later that night - the seller accepted our bid! (We were getting ready for a halloween party while we were going back and forth with Brian and he with the seller's agent - it was all very exciting. And scary. Condos cost a lot of money!). Anyway, it all worked out, we closed a few days before Christmas and moved in the day after Christmas. We are alllllmost done painting and unpacking boxes, and we couldn't be happier. We love it here, and we largely have Brian and John to thank for making this possible and relatively painless. We recommend them to everyone. read more

Brian and his team were amazing! They thought of every small detail, and it really paid off! He went above and beyond the realtors we've had in the past, including managing the contractors, helping with staging ideas, and making suggestions for what to fix/clean. We did some work to the house to prepare to sell based on Brian's suggestions, and it was so worth it! He also has great contractors that have done a lot of work for him in the past. He knows those little details that will really make a difference. Our house looked amazing by the time we were ready to put it on the market. We got 4 offers, all over asking price! I would highly recommend Brian to anyone. read more

We had a fantastic experience with Heather as our realtor. She helped give us all of the information we needed to make a decision and recommended making a strategic offer that was ultimately accepted. On top of that, she is very personable and very responsive and always had our best interests in mind. We loved working with Heather and will definitely be recommending her to others! read more

Brian Cusick and his team just helped me sell my condo. All the great reviews and Best Realtor awards are true. He is very knowledgeable and always has an answer. He is easily reachable, and whenever I had a question/concern, he would respond quickly and take the time to make sure I was confident in moving forward. I never felt pressured, and he delivered on what he promised. The building I was selling my condo in is highly competitive. From the time we put mine on the market, to when we sold, there were 9 other properties very similar, in the same building (not counting the other buildings in the area). His goal was to make sure that when someone came in that building looking for a condo, that mine stood out and was the obvious first choice. His strategies are well thought-out, and he has a team that can execute each task to the highest quality. Just follow his advice, and he'll make it happen. Mine sold faster than the other comparables in the building, and for a fair valuation. As an out-of-state seller, he really handled the process for me, and updated me regularly, making it very convenient. I recommend him to other buyers/sellers with no hesitation. He knows how to support his clients and get the job done. read more

This was my first time buying a house and I had no clue what I was doing, but Brian was amazing. He responded my e-mails and texts right away (usually within an hour), I never wondered where I was in the process, he always let me know what to expect. He told me at closing to contact him should I need anything. Based on what my friends have said about their realtors, I expected that was just a line, but it wasn't. I reached out to him about my home and he responded just as quickly after closing as he did before I bought my house. I would and already have recommended him to my friends in the area. He was a delight to work with and made what could have been a stressful time, almost completely stress-free. read more

I first worked with Brian Cusick in 2015 when he helped me purchase my coop in Washington, DC. Brian helped make that purchase experience as easy as possible for me. When the time came that I needed to place my coop on the market, I got back in touch with Brian to help with the sale. He expertly managed the entire process, including helping to facilitate minor repairs/updates as well as staging. Additionally, Brian just helped me and my fiancé purchase a home in DC. Despite the crazy housing market in 2021, Brian helped us win an offer (our first and only offer) on an amazing row home in an amazing neighborhood. Brian is a true professional with knowledge and experience from being in the industry for awhile, and has specific knowledge of the DC housing market. He is responsive and communicative throughout the whole process, and he has a network of quality colleagues that he can recommend (contractors, home inspectors, lenders, etc.) to help with anything you may need. John is an extraordinary agent. I bought a property in D.C. and I live in another state. He was simply amazing - answered all my questions promptly and comprehensively. We toured 5 homes and he pointed out the pros and cons of each home. Never did he push a more expensive property. John's overarching goal was that I would be completely satisfied with my purchase. On that same day, I decided I wanted to buy a property. I told John at 11:30 am on a Saturday, and by 5 pm, I had an executed contract. I will recommend John over and over to friends and family who are buying property in the area. Brian and Jeff were also great when John was out of town. Nothing was dropped. Brian and John were terrific. Brian was our agent when buying our home 3 years ago; we were very pleased then - and when we surprisingly had to move recently, he was the only person we considered to sell our home. Brian went out of his way to do everything and anything necessary for the sales process, including recommending important improvements, recommending a very competent and reasonable contractor, advising us on landscaping, hauling a mattress to the curb (!), watering plants when necessary, helping us prepare the house to show it off well, and perhaps most importantly, keeping my husband and me fully informed and calm through the whole process. Brian is a true professional, responds very promptly, and is very knowledgeable about the market - properties, buyers and sellers. We highly recommend Brian; as several other reviewers have mentioned, he is indeed a delight to work with. read more

We had a great experience buying our home in NE DC with Brian and John! They patiently helped us through the process over the course of a year. Brian was absolutely amazing to work with. He is organized and knows the DC real estate market in and out. I was selling my coop in Adams Morgan while living overseas with many time zones between us. Brian took care of everything and was easy to reach through what's app. He made excellent (and inexpensive) suggested upgrades which paid off! I had 2 competing offers on my unit within a week of listing. Final sale price was $8,000 over asking. He took over the keys from my rental management company and arranged for the service providers (staging, painting, etc) while I was an ocean away. When the settlement company made errors in the closing documents, I was literally 12 hours difference in time zone with limited access to printer/scanner. Brian started making phone calls and got the whole thing sorted so we closed on time despite other parties errors. I can't recommend Brian highly enough. read more

Heather was fantastic! We had a tight timeline after finding out our landlord was going to sell our current apartment. She was very informative about different areas in the District and was very honest with what was available within our budget. We decided to look around DC to see what was out there. We saw our current house and fell in love. She was readily available to us so that our offer was given in a timely manner and ultimately accepted by the seller. We were able to send our offer and close in 21 days. She recommended great loan officers that were also readily available if we had any questions or concerns. We couldn't have asked for a better home buying experience! read more

We contacted Brian from Redfin just to look at an apartment for an investment in SW. When we met, he had pulled a portfolio of apartments that matched my goals, price point and location. He couldn't have been more prepared, and not in a way where I ever felt he was pushing us to buy in certain places. Brian knew the market in the neighborhood like the back of his had and showed me places I never thought to look that were great matches for what we were looking to buy. Super knowledgeable. Once we settled on a property - after several inquiries to which he was super responsive - we worked with Brian and John who made the entire process seamless. It was a foreclosure, which apparently are huge hassles, however we never knew this the entire time b/c they made the whole experience so easy for us. They gave us a great recommendation for a loan officer and even with the annoyance of my husband owning his own business (makes mortgages a painful process) it was, dare I say, easy. I recommend these guys WHOLE HEARTEDLY. read more

I'm not sure where to start, but I think the most appropriate place is that Brian is the best realtor EVER, without question. My partner and I were looking, without a real vision of what we wanted. After taking a few other realtors for a test drive, Brian helped us realize our vision for our first home together. The market was crazy and it seemed like every house we were interested in was being snatched by other eager buyers. Although our preapproval was for much more than we wanted to spend, Brian shared listings with us within the parameters of our budget. He also found us a home with all of our wish list items. Over the past month and a half, it felt as if we were the only couple that Brian was working with (late night e-mails, early morning text messages, etc.). Brian helped us make a strategic offer, which was accepted and he was also able to help us prioritize our bargaining power after the home inspection netted some minor repairs. We absolutely LOVED working with Brian and would recommend him without reservation. We cannot thank him enough!!! read more

Brian Cusick is in the A Team of real estate agents. He has been outstanding in every way in his service to my spouse and I as first time home buyers. Brian is everything you could want in a realtor: professional, organized, responsive, knowledgeable, insightful, and friendly, to name just a few qualities. He truly made this process so EASY for us, and I can't imagine having done it without him. And, he did it in record time, as we went from initial inquiry to closing in six weeks! We had to vacate our rental and had been putting things off, but he helped us get it done. We were procrastinating buying a home for awhile, in part because it seemed so overwhelming and stressful. And, it can be! But, with Brian, who was referred by several friends, we didn't have to worry about a thing. He had it all covered, and had great referrals along the way. In particular, the lender he recommended was one of the best in the city. If he didn't know the answer to something, he would find out or quickly point us in the right direction. He was always there to explain things, and answer the million questions I had leading up to closing. I knew from the moment we met Brian that we were making the right decision by selecting him as our realtor. He immediately put us at ease, and having piece of mind, or some semblance of it, throughout this process, is something he gave us and we are so grateful. You can tell Brian loves his job, as he goes out of his way to do things that a realtor doesn't have to do----like give suggestions on home decor, where to buy certain products, and just anything that confuses us he has still helped us with, even now that closing is over and we are settling in to our new home. His work ethic in assisting us post-closing, and even with some ongoing issues with the main contractor, has been a major asset. A truly talented and skilled realtor, we highly recommend working with Brian, whether you are a buyer (like we were) or a seller. read more
