I have braces from another Ortho office in Long Beach and I am not a patient at Tagawa & Curtis Orthodontics. I recently moved to Brea and I was trying to see my ortho in Long Beach but the office closes early and I can't make it there on time since I work in Lake Forest. For those who have braces knows that when your teeth moves, the wire starts poking out in the back. Well, mine was poking out really bad and it started to cut in the back of my mouth and was bleeding from the constant stab from the wire. I called this office and was willing to pay just to get it cut since I couldn't get to my Ortho on time. They were so nice, gave me an appointment on the same day and cut the wire...FOR FREE!. They saw me right away once I got in and all the staff there was absolutely sweet. If I lived in Brea during the time when I got my braces 2 years ago, I would definitely go to them. read more

My older daughter is close to finishing her orthodontics care here. She gets her braces off in 2 months. My younger daughter is getting her braces on today. I have been very happy here. I just finished my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Curtis and I wanted to write a quick review because a) I am SO HAPPY with the results and b) Dr. Curtis and his entire staff are all amazing people. They are all absolutely excellent at what they do, and they're all super friendly and they make you feel welcome every time you come into the office. Dr. Curtis is wonderful and takes the time to explain everything that is going to happen in detail - I always felt very comfortable with my treatment because I knew what to expect and any questions I had were answered. No pressure to go with any particular treatment choice, they just explained the options and the benefits and drawbacks of each one, and how long it would take and what results I could expect. The office is super clean and nice, scheduling appointments is easy, and every single person who works there is warm and welcoming. They also have a lot of fun... they celebrate whenever anyone gets their braces (or Invisalign) off. I also feel very confident that I got the best possible treatment for me, because they use the latest treatments, the best technology - everything is top notch. My oral surgeon said I needed to have my teeth straightened before I could have gum surgery, and I am SO happy he did because I love how my teeth look - can't stop smiling at myself in the mirror. :) I chose the Invisalign because I didn't want to have visible braces on my teeth 24/7 and it worked out great. Turned out better than I ever could have expected. Dr. Rees Olson in Placentia is a 2nd generation dentist who learned the caring values that were credited to his father. Living in what at one time were small towns, Placentia, Yorba Linda and Brea and all other OC cities used to be 'almost country' in social values and traditions. We knew our neighbors and took care of one another. Dr. Rees and team do just that. Dr. Rees last year referred me and my family to Dr. Curtis in Brea when at age 59 it was determined I would need braces. Since then our 15 year old has also received dental braces from Dr. Curtis and his team. My child started braces a year and a half ago. Dr Curtis is great. The office staff especially Janine is rude and unhelpful. They billed insurance incorrectly and it's been a year of trying to correct the problem without follow up and rude voices when I try to find solutions myself. Appointments are so difficult to schedule and parents are not welcomed to wait for their child in the office during appointments. I have to pull my child from school each appointment and wait in my car. We had a fundraiser at school and they were uninterested completely. When I asked about participating (12 other practices in the area (dentist/medical) were recognized for contributing) I got no response and then some generic website telling me how great they are. It feels stuffy around the staff and they discourage any questions explanations or family involvement the minute you pay in full. So disappointed. read more

Tagawa and Curtis Orthodontics is a great option if you are wanting to get braces. Their expertise has never created any doubt for me. I had my braces for 18 months, and the staff did an excellent job with maintaing them. At every appointment they were concerned about the comfort of my braces, but also, they asked me about school and how I was doing. I never had to wait for a long time before they called my name and was seen quickly. The staff is extremely friendly, and their assistance was a significant help. I gave them a four stars because I had return three times in the beginning. They had forgot to trim the end of my wire so it was cutting into my cheek. This most likely occurred due to my teeth moving. Nevertheless, this orthodontics will never disappoint you. Today, my teeth look amazing, and they truly made a difference towards my smile. I can honestly say I can't think of ONE single bad thing about this place. I had to have braces not once, but twice due to an accident. First of all, kudos for them dealing with my brattyness when I first got them back on. I know I was definitely not a happy camper about getting braces again. The only good thing was I got to see people in the office again. The staff is the BEST. Everyone is so wonderful. The doctors are absolutely amazing as well. Dr. Curtis and his staff are amazing!!! My daughter started going there 5 years ago, wanting to do Invisalign's. Long story short, she wasn't disciplined enough to keep it up, but Dr. Curtis and his staff have been sooo extremely nice and patient with her and after a long time of trying to convince her that metal braces are the better way for her to go, she finally agreed. She's had them on for three months now and the results are already amazing!! Never once did anyone in Dr. Curtis's office ever make her feel bad for not keeping up with her Invisalign's. They have all been so encouraging and have made my daughter feel really comfortable going in for her visits. Today, my son got his braces on. Of course we didn't give him a choice of not going with the metal braces. Having built a relationship with Dr. Curtis and his staff, I felt completely comfortable knowing my son will be in the best care for the next 12 - 18 months. Not only is their office clean, their staff extremely nice, Dr. Curtis warm, friendly and personable, but to top it off, they have all the newer technology so that my kids will experience the least amount of pain for the duration of this period of having braces. My kids who just had their braces taken off 10 months ago notice their teeth are gradually going back to the positions before. Now I have to pay more money to do X-ray and maybe put braces back . All for more money. If you can, don't take them off even they tell you so especially if your kids are young. Their bones are not settle yet. Leave them on for 6 months to a year more. Here they ask you to sign a consent form when they take braces off your children so it is your responsibility afterward. What didi I know? I just listened to the doctor's advice and did whatever they asked me to do. You would think they know EVERYTHING! Bad practices. I sure learned my lessons. read more

Dr. Tagawa is great! He uses the Damon braces and he also does invisalign. I currently have braces and I am very satisfied on how everything is coming along. The office is very nice and the staff is very friendly. My favorite part about this place is that they have this thing called the wooden nickel program. Every time you have an appointment and you show up on time and you bring you're appointment slip with you, you collect points (wooden nickels) and then you can turn them in for prices. The prices include (star bucks gift card, American express gift card, tickets to Disney land, etc.). BTW, you earn those points in other ways too. I'm 19 and I like that idea. So, I'm guessing kids must really enjoy that. Anyways, my mother, sister, and I have all got braces with Dr. Tagawa and we are very satisfied! read more

My daughter is a patient here, and I am beyond happy with the care she receives. There was a time my daughter had an orthodontic related emergency. Rachelle was able to help us after hours, and got us into the office right away. Am almost 70 and wished to keep from ending up with dentures, seeing both my parents always struggling with the discomfort and not being able to enjoy their food. Had braces in my 30s, but like most, I did not realize that I was to "upgrade" and at least wear retainers forever thus ending up needing a correction, not for looks but to correct an impediment.
