The worst retail experience I can think of.
This year I made the mistake of buying a number products from Curry's. My advice is DON'T go near this company. I have been profoundly disappointed with the products themselves and the customer service response to these said products being faulty.
It has been an absolute nightmare. The first product I had a problem with was a Sony All in One Sound Bar. The speaker didn't work properly from day one. Eventually I couldn't get any sound out of it at all. Absolutely dreadful. When I phoned up they gave me number to take into the nearest shop as it was just past its warranty (an extremely generous 29 days!).When I did so, the staff seemed confused over the process of returns and the number I'd been given. They phoned up Sony whose representative shouted at the staff member on the speaker phone, causing even more tension. I was told by a supervisor to come back later when the manager was there to discuss some kind of compensation. When I returned I was told by the same supervisor that they couldn't offer any compensation or refund and that I personally had to send it back to Sony! It gets worse.
So, I take it to another Curry's. They tell they're going to send it off to be fixed. There's no email confirming this and over the next few weeks I'm pretty much left in the lurch. Meantime, my PS4 from the same place (Tottenham Court Road) breaks down. Whilst returning it I enquire about the sound bar.Turns out they haven't sent it to Sony because apparently, he smugly informs me, "it's not broken". I am then spoken to like a complete moron and in a extremely condescending tone told that maybe I used the wrong HDMI socket! Wow! ok. Interesting.
I ask the shop assistant to prove to me that it works the way it should. He spends the next half an hour fiddling with the controls, after which he comes to the conclusion... its broken! Imagine that? What a surprise. I have now been here for almost 40 minutes. Maybe longer.
He couldn't offer me a refund because it was outside the warranty. He reluctantly (very reluctantly) gives me a gift card... for a shop I really don't want to by anything else from. I now have a £149 gift card that I don't want, based on my experience of buying things form Curry's. I mean, why would I?
In September this year I bought my daughter a PS4 games console for her 12th birthday. Unfortunately I made the mistake of buying it from Curry's. Just past the warranty period the blu ray player breaks down. I spend hours trying to get through to Curry's, who are reluctant to give me any information as they say that my address is wrong. For some reason they have my address details down as Tottenham Court Road, which is obviously the place where I bought it, not where I live. Who the hell lives on Tottenham Court Road?!
I then have to get through to Sony. Every bit of technical support they offer doesn't help. I'm forced to take the games console back to where I bought it, the store in Tottenham Court Road. As its just over its warranty they say they have to send it back to Sony (I've heard that one before!
I have since phoned up Curry's customer service several times, in fact, every week since I had to give back the console. I have tried to get in touch with the shop itself. Curry's customer service have tried to get in touch with them, to no avail. They just don't seem to care.
They have not emailed me. I have no idea what progress has been made in regard to the games console. My daughter doesn't have the birthday present that I promised her on her 12th birthday. I am extremely tired, stressed, and frustrated. I have to work a lot of extra hours to pay almost £250 for something that I at least expect to work.
I have absolutely no faith in this company and the products it sells. I want nothing more to with it. The fact that the warranty is only 29 days only proves that the company itself has no faith in their products.
I honestly just want my money back so I can get my daughter the present she was supposed have in September, preferably from a more reputable company with a more realistic warranty and a better customer service.
