Curry 'n Spice is definitely a big contender in the "greater high point area." I started off with the chili mo mo dumplings and these were some of the tastiest, best flavored dumplings I've ever had. Not only was the chili sauce great on the outside, the inside was perfectly flavorful as wells. Usually, one or the other are somewhat lacking but that is not the case at Curry 'n Spice! For my main meal I ordered the chicken tikka masala and you can't go wrong with this pick either. The rice portion was on the smaller end of places that I've been, but by no means was it lacking. The chicken chunks were a bit too big for my taste but the flavor and spice level (I think I went level 4) were enough to put this place in the top 2! Finally, the garlic naan was nice and fluffy with a slight crunch on one side, just how I like it. Full of flavor and has you wanting a second order. I will definitely be back to try those lunch specials!

We had the Chicken Chilli Mo Mos -- savory, flavorful, crispy dumplings in a bold, spicy sauce. It was fantastic! They have some typical American food and Italian, but the people clearly forefront their Indian cuisine. I ordered some chickpeas and fried bread, but having ordered online I arrived to find they hadn't started it yet. After a modest wait, I took my food to go. The freshly prepared curry could not be accused of anything less than robust flavor, and yet it was very heavy on oil and even though I tried to pour some of that off it left me feeling a bit queasy. The fried bread that accompanied it wasn't impressive; the pieces were two small to really mop up the chickpeas by themselves. The prepared food menu was varied, but the selection of items for sale in the convenience store was more typical American stuff. I was glad I found something interesting and vegetarian in the region, but it wasn't quite what I'd hoped for. Maybe a different order would go better.

During the week Masala House runs a lunch special from 11 am - 2:30 pm (Monday - Friday) which includes an entree, vegetable soup, naan, rice, and dessert. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and my partner ordered the butter chicken. I definitely prefer the butter chicken as chicken thigh meat was used vs. chicken breast in the chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were excellent and had great flavor. The rice and naan being included was also a nice touch. The vegetable soup at the beginning of the meal was also hot when it arrived and full of flavor. For dessert I ordered the rice pudding which was excellent and not too sweet. If I'm in the north Raleigh area again I'll definitely be stopping by Masala House for lunch.

The moment I walked in, I was hit with those warm, spicy Indian aromas that instantly make you hungry. Friendly staff got me seated right away. The menu is huge, so I asked my waiter for recommendations. Usually a bit of a gamble, but this time it paid off big. He suggested the Cutlet Chaat, Saag Paneer, and Mango Lime Chicken. Every single dish was outstanding--deep, layered flavors, perfectly tender chicken, and that fresh, warm naan that pulls it all together. Each bite just lit up my taste buds. This is easily one of the best Indian meals I've had anywhere. The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is solid, the options are plentiful, and everything comes out looking and tasting fantastic. I wish I could pack the whole place up and bring it back to my neighborhood in Columbus. If you're anywhere near here, make Lime and Lemon a priority. It's that good. I ordered the honey cauliflower, garlic naan, veggie samosa, chicken lollipops, crispy okra, and paneer saag. A friend recommended this place, and somehow I managed to eat all of this by myself because it was just so good! The honey cauliflower was the standout for me. The pieces were big, perfectly crispy, and had a great balance of flavor without feeling overly breaded. The veggie samosa was also really well done, with a good filling-to-breading ratio. The chicken lollipops were exactly what I was hoping for, and the crispy okra was another highlight because it wasn't weighed down by too much breading. The only thing I didn't personally love was the paneer saag, but that was more on me because I didn't really read the description before ordering and it just wasn't what I was expecting. The sauce itself was really good, it just wasn't the flavor profile I had in mind. Overall, I think Taaza is hands down some of the best Indian food in the greater Winston-Salem area. After looking at the menus for a few places, Shukkranaa seemed worth a gamble. The menu boasts everything you'd expect (curries, biryanis, breads, plenty of vegetarian dishes), and under other circumstances, I'd be all over the chicken 65. However, I wanted to give one of their quick lunch specials a try. Available in vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions, the offerings change daily, but they include an appetizer, two curries, salad, rice, bread, and a dessert. At $13 veg/$15 non-veg, that seemed like a good deal for the money. I placed an online order for that day's vegetarian special (paneer kadhai and daal makhani), and it was ready when I arrived. Though Shukkranaa's location (a strip mall near a motel up 68) screams "nondescript," the interior seemed more inviting, and the gentleman at the register was polite. After a short drive home, I was able to enjoy a better-than-expected lunch. It came largely as advertised with a pakora as the appetizer, naan as the bread, and a piece of galub jamun as the dessert (though the "salad" was just a few assorted vegetables). The rice was fragrant, the sauces creamy, the portion size more than respectable, and to my relief, Shukkranaa does NOT hold back on flavor. I don't know if the dine-in experience would be as impressive, and there are certainly other Indian eateries to choose from in the immediate area, but for tasty, convenient takeout, count Shuukranaa as a name to remember.

The food seemed to take a bit longer than expected for as empty as the restaurant was. When it did come out, my dish and my wife's looked surprisingly similar for having ordered 2 different entrees.
