Admittedly, I haven't been here in years because my last couple visits weren't very good. I had a craving for Indian and one my fellow yelpies recommended this place and told me they reopened the lunch buffet. I decided to try it out. It was very muggy inside to the point that the floors were slippery and I had to be careful walking. The buffet itself was lacking. Many of the dishes had no labels and there were no gloves for the shared utensils. Also, they are using plastic plates for the buffet. I tried a little of everything and the fried items were cold and old. The vegetarian dishes were also lukewarm. The chicken biryani was cold and the rice was crunchy. The butter chicken was very sweet. To the point I didn't recognize it. Most of the food was sweet. They brought out one naan. That was very salty and I couldn't finish it. Overall everything tasted modified and not authentic. There was only one sauced item with meat and that was butter chicken. The only other protein option was tandoori chicken so you won't have any options if you don't care for chicken. There was one chick pea dish, a potato dish, an okra dish, a veggie stir fry and that was pretty much it for mains. Overall I think they would fare better expanding their buffet. I would have rather ordered off the main menu. The staff was attentive and friendly. It's not the same lively and homey place I remember and frequented often when they first opened. Will I go back? That's a real tough question. To order off the menu, I might. But then I remember the last few visits and second guess the possibility. I would not come back for the buffet. There's plenty of parking in a shared lot. Maybe a fall hazard for those with assistive devices or mobility issues. The floor is clean but the humidity caused it to be very slick. read more

I chose the buffet. They had a good selection of food. It was hot and spiced really well. We got refills in our waters often and we were served desserts after we finished our meals. I thought the price was appropriate for adults, not so much for kids who eat very little. I loved their rice and chicken dishes. I would definitely return. read more

I stopped in for lunch on a day that I was searching for something different. I was surprised that they were offering a buffet style for lunch. For those that aren't sure about Indian food and want to explore, I suggest the buffet at lunch. It was reasonably priced and the food itself tasted fresh and was flavorful. There were several options to choose from as well. The service was okay. I do not feel as though I am able to rate the service considering I was one of two patrons in the restaurant. So, there really wasn't much that I needed. I will say that the waiter did keep the table cleaned of dirty plates and kept my cup full. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting. I ordered door dash and I also went in to pick up food. Let me state the food is really really good. The flavor of their food is some of my favorite I have had. The people there are also great! My gripe is the portion size. The price is a bit too high for what you get. I got butter chicken and naan. It comes with rice. I may have had 5-6 little pieces of chicken. A small cup of rice and one half of a naan. On Door dash, I know there is an up charge, my meal ran me about 30 plus dollars. Pick up closer to 25. Again no problem with the quality of the food. I was very excited to try this place but was disappointed with their South Indian food. We ordered gobi Manchurian for an appetizer which was pretty good just slightly salty. The main reason we had come was because we were craving dosas. I ordered a myssore rava dosa which I thought was extremely spicy. It did not taste like a traditional myssore dosa. Instead, it tasted more like a dosa with an indochinese twist as all I could taste was garlic. The Sambhar was very average and the chutney didn't taste fresh. The service was also extremely slow even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. I would give this restaurant another shot to try the Punjabi food but I do not recommend it if you're craving dosas, idli, or vada. read more

Catering Review: Taaza Bistro offers, hands down, the best Indian catering I have tasted in the entire US. My wife and I consider ourselves major foodies, and we have tried numerous Indian restaurants around the country. Few nail each dish so superbly the way Yasin and his team at Taaza do. When we looked for caterers that could service our Research Triangle Area wedding, Taaza impressed us to a far greater extent than any of the competition. The food at Taaza even wowed our very picky parents who rarely praise Indian restaurant food. Each genre of food, including North Indian classics, traditional South Indian dishes, Indo-Chinese staples, and desserts, tasted authentic and was made with quality ingredients. Once we decided to select Taaza as our caterer, Yasin patiently worked with us to select a unique, craveable menu for each function that reflected our theme and would please the crowd. He ensured that he would deliver the same quality during our wedding as he would during the tastings, and was incredibly easy to work with. The hardest part for us was narrowing down our menu, since everything we tried was so tasty! When our big wedding weekend actually arrived, the food was executed perfectly and presented beautifully. Each dish was prepared fresh and guests universally remarked about how delicious each item was. From standards such as butter chicken, to fusion items such as paneer tacos, and desserts such as made to order jalebi, Yasin and his team excelled at delivering a memorable culinary experience for all of our guests. My only regret is that my wife and I didn't get to sample more of our food during the hecticness of our weekend! If you are considering Indian catering for any function in the Triangle or the surrounding area, Taaza is the only choice. Thank you, Taaza Bistro for reminding me how much I enjoy Indian food. There isn't much of that around here, and none in Mebane where I live, and my family and I were so happy to find this place, and to find out that it is excellent! My daughter and I stopped by last night for dinner, and left completely satisfied. We both had some amazing hot chai masala while we waited for our entrees; Madras curry with chicken for her, and Chattinad with shrimp for me, and some chili garlic naan for both of us. We also ordered some chicken Tikka Masala to take home. Everything had so much flavor! It was nicely spicy, but not overpowerlingly so. We all had some of everything, and there was nothing that any of us would not be completely happy with. I'm really looking forward to my leftovers for lunch later today! Excellent Indian food. And we eating at lots of Indian places from Atlanta to Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill. Food is very authentic with great spice! The naan bread is awesome with fresh herbs and freshly chopped garlic! Although the indoor lighting is pretty annoying. The cabinet at the front door and near the kitchen have super bright light panels. The dessert glass cabinet in front has a super bright fluorescent light, and then the overhead lights with the stark white LEDs are pretty bad. It's probably OK during the day but at night !!! The food is great and so we've gone to take out which is a bummer because we are 20 minutes away. So, I highly recommend the food and the service is great as well. Very very delicious! What a great find in Burlington. I was here visiting my grandmother. She eats the same things all the time. So, I wanted to try something new with her. We really lucked out. Thank god this was on the places that deliver. My gma is wheelchair bound so she doesnt go out often. I ordered garlic naan (a must at every Indian restaurant), some tikka masala, garlic cilantro chicken, vegetable samosas, and the curry goat appetizer. All of the meat dishes were phenomenal. The goat was bony, very bony not much meat but had a great flavor. The vegetable samosas were okay. But those Indian staples are why I was there and they were 5 star worthy! When the culinary gods blessed cultures with spice aptitude, they smiled prodigiously upon India. This fact is not lost on the brilliant chefs at Taaza Indian Bistro. Taaza means "fresh", and this is evident in the dishes they serve. The chefs at Taaza and their abilities to tantalize and satisfy even the most discriminating palate are remarkable indeed. Immediately upon walking in to Taaza, you are embraced by an exotic spice scent. This boded well and stimulated my appetite.  The order taker was patient, helpful, and kind. I settled on the crispy okra, buttered naan, and chicken saag with basmati rice. While I waited in my truck (COVID-19 take out only), the aromas from the vents out of the kitchen sent the most wonderful fragrances to me. The anticipation began to get desperate. And, finally, the moment of truth: Crispy okra: This ain't your Meemaw's fried okra. Cut into long, thin strips, I have never had anything fried that was so light, crisp, non-greasy, and delicious.  Buttered naan: fresh, soft, buttered, and lightly herbed. Positively excellent. Saag: I chose chicken for my meat and a spice level of "hot" (they have mild, medium, hot, and super hot). I love saag so much, and this was an outstanding version. Beautifully spiced and with a perfect consistency, it was the epitome of savory. The "hot" level was perfect for me, but I like hot food, so adjust accordingly if you don't like hot. Basmati rice: aromatic, perfectly textured, and delicious.  Simply put, this was one of the best meals I've ever had. Certainly it was the best Indian cuisine I've ever had. This place was sadly horrible. I placed an order that was to be ready at 6:05. Arrived 6:09 and told my name and showed my order was ready on the app. There appeared to be one man staffing all tables and orders, and one man preparing from the kitchen. I checked in over the next THIRTY minutes. They were almost ignoring me. I had to get their attention. They eventually said my order had been picked up. They said to call GrubHub (who fulfilled it via Yelp) and get a refund and they'd make it again. I got my refund but no way I was staying any longer. While I was there another woman and son were waiting for a take out order and we're told "we don't have your order". I think they were just way disorganized. read more

I was thrilled to find out this is the same ownership as the Taaza in Greensboro and would love to give this place 4-5 stars. However, there are many things that just don't make sense. 1.) My party had 3 people and was only given 1 platter of rice for 3 meals. After going through 2 more (3 total) we got 2 more and were charged $6 total for maybe 3 cups of rice from the last 2 platters. The waiter also did not tell us it was going to be extra. Taaza Greensboro doesn't do this AND they put cumin seeds in their rice to compliment the dishes and add more flavor. 2.) the Chana masala is $0.95 more here than in Greensboro.....why??? It's also around half the amount of food. 3.) my friends' meal portions were also smaller than every time I've went to Taaza Greensboro. Love the atmosphere, love the dietary listings on the menus, food was good, and even a good wait staff. But probably won't come back. Don't understand why the food is so much more and you get less. Would rather drive 30 minutes to get more food and at a cheaper price. read more

Food was incredibly disappointing, I ordered the chicken tikka masala a cheese naan and a bullet naan. Chicken tikka had over a fourth a cup of grease in it and the cheese naan was raw. I got this for my grandma because she loves spicy food and it was inedible except for the bullet naan. The chicken and the chicken tikka was also super dry. Came here for dinner on Valentines day, and they had a special! We ordered two appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts for $30 which was really well priced for the amount of food, given it also came with soup and two naans. The service was very good for multiple reasons; the timing of each course gave us time to finish the prior, while not waiting for the next dish, they refilled our waters constantly, checked on us a lot but not too much, and overall were very pleasant. As for the food it was average to slightly above. Id come back here for the lunch buffet to try more dishes. The Appetizers: Mixed Veggie Pakora - Nice big chunks of veggies, but a tad too much cumin Chicken 65 - really, really tasty. Nice soft chunks of flavorful meat. It was crispy, which I didn't expect thinking it was yogurt based. Naan - It was thinner than most, but with lots of garlic and butter, it was worth the carbs. Soup - Light but scintillating. The Entrees: Chicken Tikka Masala - It had a nice blend of spices and heat as ordered made it a really fine dish. Probably would have been a bit under flavored without the spiciness. Vegetable Biryanai - This had a really nice flavor. Would definitely recommend. It had less veggies than I'd expect, but also a better flavor. The Desserts: Strawberry Mousse - pretty standard, im guessing was a special for the holiday. Gulab Jamun - YUM! GET THIS! Basically little donut balls in a sugary honey liquid. The location doesn't scream nice dinner out given the ambiance isn't exactly cozy but its a solid dinner spot with pretty good food and solid service. I love really good Indian food, and am always on the look out for new places to try. When this place opened about 5 months ago, I made note, of course, and got a chance to try it for lunch today. I was a little concerned since there were a number of Yelp reviews here that had been filtered - all were strong positive reviews by folks with only 1 or 2 reviews on Yelp, not always a positive thing. They offer a buffet at lunch, and since I was a little pushed for time, I opted for that, though I much prefer ordering Indian dishes from the menu so I can ask for the specific heat level I want for a particular dish. This allows me to assure the wait person that I understand what those levels mean. The buffet here offered several appetizers, some vegeterian (Gobi Manchurian or Fried Cauliflower), some not (Chicken 65 - a chicken fritter marniated in yougurt, lime, & spices). Both were nicely done, with good flavor - not at all greasy or soggy. The Raita here is very, very thin and has very little real flavor, and the tomato chutney was also rather mild in flavor. The Naan was very ordinary, perhaps some of the speciality version are better flavored. The Vegetable Biryani was nice tasting with a very good texture, something not always seen in Indian restaurants. The Chicken Curry was also flavorful with a strong yelloe color, but a little dry since breast meat was used, the only dish I encountered with any heat level at all. The Butter Chicken was nice, fairly mild, but rich tasting. The Tandoori Chicken was typical, brightly colored but dry and without much taste. The Lunch Buffet only costs about $8, so it is definitely a decent value. The service is excellent - attentive and friendly. They do have several large TVs wall-mounted, and these constantly and loudy played Indian "Sooper Hits" (the spelling that was on the picture), and this was as annoying as any restaurant I've been in in a while - not a very relaxing lunch. All in all, there were hits and misses here. Nice ambiance except for the loud, annoying music, almost enough in and of itself to keep me from coming back - excellent service - good value. Food was not exceptional, but there was some promise for ordering off the menu - Raita and Naan were below par. For now, I am giving this meal a very provisional 3 stars, but this is more on promise, and non-food elements, rather than the dishes themselves. I'll have to try at dinner, off the menu, with called heat levels, and including some of the house special entrees and more interesting items. read more

It's ok. Definitely different than it was in the past. Miss the buffet. The thali menu is a good idea, but most of the items are pre prepared. The last 2 visits have resulted in the food being cold. Cold Indian food is not good. The chicken 65 and pakora are always amazing. Mango lassis are greats. While expensive, the gulab jamun are great. I like that they are now bringing a pitcher of water to the table rather than having the waiters come when they can. If they are busy, that can be dangerous if you are sensitive to spice. Ha! Overall, really good food. Recommend the cilantro garlic chicken too.. it's great... but even their mild is spicy. I can't tolerate like I used to. read more

Just ate here tonight with a group of six. All of us were hands down happy with the food. The dosas are huge - ok dosas usually are but these had more filling than I've seen. Everything had complex balanced flavors without being too spicy. Very reasonable prices and friendly service. read more

The quality of the food was spot on. Everything we had was delicious. Garlic naan was perfect and butter lamb was literally the best I have ever had. If you are trying to be fast, this is not the place but it's absolutely worth the wait. We will be coming back here over any Indian we have had in Chapel Hill or Durham.
