I've been to Curry Leaf a few times for the lunch buffet and always enjoyed the variety of dishes available to try. Yesterday evening I ordered takeout from Curry Leaf! It was delicious. I had the Karachi Lamb which was cooked with onions, peppers, and a spicy tomato based sauce. First time I had it and I loved it. I also ordered Navrattan Korma, a multiple vegetable dish in a mild, pleasantly seasoned sauce. First time I had that dish also, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love going to this restaurant so much that I treat it like my kitchen. Doesn't help that I live just a 10 minute walk away. I've been to the lunch buffet and dinner multiple times with friends and a few on my own. I'm Asian, but I've never been to India so I can't attest to its authenticity. However, I can definitely say these tastes will engulf any Asian palate with flavors clearly missing from a lot of Euro-centric American dishes. Service is always great at this restaurant. Respectful staff, clean place and Quality food. Options are less for the price but definitely whatever is provided is of great authentic taste. Dosas & Naan are served along with the meal and they are pretty good. The traditional item in any Indian Non Veg buffet - Biryani is missing in the menu. If Chai & Biryani can be added to the menu it will definitely become a 5 Star buffet. read more

I love Indian food and was delighted to find this gem in my neighborhood so close I can get takeout anytime. The added bonus is that it's delicious! Tandoori chicken Sag Paneer and onion kulcha. I have been looking for some decent Indian food, particularly Northern Indian since my favorite place (India Kitchen) closed. I was so excited to see this place serves Northern and Southern Indian food. Even though the place was super busy when we arrived, we were seated quickly and the service was flawless. Our food came out about 15 minutes after we ordered and it was amazing. The chai was flowing, the Korma was creamy and the Tandoori was tender. I did the delivery thing, it was raining and yeah didn't want to bother getting out. So I did the yelp thing, first time eating here. I did the chicken masala with mild curry. The rice well, yeah not what I expected but eatable. I also ordered the naan with cheese, yeah was like eating a cheese quesadilla again, not too bad. Yum!!! I freaking love this place! Complimentary garlic naan and this sort of crepe like bread. Free refills on the bread which is amazing! And i ordered the chai tea which they constantly come around the room refilling your cup with too! Any place that serves chai tea so freely like this has a special place in my heart! As for the food selection, marvelous! Their salad had excellent dark green leaves too which is what i always hope for. I cant stand iceberg lettuce as their salad. I also love their veggie options and their meats especially! There was chicken AND goat! Yes yes and yes! The setting of the place is also very elegant and even the serving platters were these beautiful vase like pots. It was probably one of the fanciest settings ive been in and yet the price was still cheap! $12 for the weekend lunvh and only $2 for chai!!! You wont be disappointed here read more

We've been eating at Curry Leaf for a couple of years. It was so good that we drove from Santa Fe to Albuquerque just to eat there. During COVID we still frequented the take out. We noticed numerous mistakes. Forgot to put in Raita that we'd paid for. The request for mild spice fell on deaf ears. Okay we have continued hoping they'd improve, In the last 3 takeouts, 2 times raita was turned, probably fermented. Inedible Today my chicken was so salty it was inedible. I guess they're not able to recover from the COVID restaurant devastation of the past 18 months. SO SAD We'll give it a year to see if it improves but done for now read more

Evening dinner crowd of about 5 tables and order was taken by one of female family member of the restaurant owner. Now I've been dozen times in last few years to this Indian restaurant and other Indian restaurants around ABQ area. We noticed other dinner who came in later than us were getting their dishes. So I waved owner over to our table and ask her to cancel the order if not in the kitchen. Saw her going into kitchen yelling at crew inside. Soon after that waiter comes out setting the plates. She comes back without apology saying it takes 30 ~ 40 minutes to prepare dishes. ( 30~40 minutes to bring out mixing meat we picked and just mix with already made curry sauce???? ) About 5 minutes later dishes came out that was lukewarm curry that was watered down. I used to have Indian dishes in one of biggest Indian town in west coast in California so I know what good Indian dishes taste like. For ABQ standards Curry Leaf is fair but definitely not Michelin 3 star place. Even those restaurants do not take half hour to prepare dishes. Word of advise to owner, it is not a sin to admit mistake and definitely NOT a crime to apologizes to guest. You are not only one who missed order among list of restaurants I visited. But because they confess their mistake and ask for forgiveness I return to their restaurant. But you had attitude with talking over when I, the guest, was taking with unreasonable excuse of taking half hour to bring out premade curry sauce and rice to table. Being honest is best policy in obvious situation like this when I, the dinner, was clocking the time. read more

I've been thinking about checking out this restaurant ever since what was my favorite Indian restaurant which was in the very same location closed due to the owners decision to retire. Finally tonight i decided to get some take out from there on my way home after work. The tandoori wings appetizer was very good. The Rasam soup was overpowered with garlic. If you choose to make the name of your restaurant part of the name of a particular dish then in my mind you are holding that forth as one of, if not THE signature dish of your restaurant so when i got to the "GOAT CURRY LEAF" i was sorely disappointed. The flavor was fine but the meat was as more bone and gristle than it was meat. Alas my oasis of Indian cuisine is truly gone. read more

Despite the rave reviews - Curry Leaf failed in one safety area. WARNING TO THOSE WITH NUT ALLERGIES. They do not post in their menu that they use cashews in their sauces. Needless to say, the lack of warnings or even a mention of nuts in the description of the dish, led to a very my unpleasant allergic experience as she reacted immediately to the Chicken Tiki Marsala. The food is pleasant but not worth the five stars many give. Although not required they made no outreach for compensation saying we should have stated a nut allergy. So it's sad but will try another Indian restaurant on next visit to ABQ. read more

Not quite sure why this place gets 4.5 stars. First off, you might want to avoid it in the summer. AC does not work well. We ordered and waited over 35 minutes for our appetizer (Paneer Pakora).! We asked what problem was, and they said we ordered an appetizer that takes a long time. Well, then we should have been warned when we ordered. We would have skipped it while good, it was not that wonderful. It also seems hard to believe. Guys, it should not be any harder to make than a mozzarella stick! Still, the appetizer took at least another 5 minutes to come out. Once the appetizer came out, the rest of the food came speedily. At that point, the waiters were efficient and friendly enough. And to their credit, they did not charge us for it. The Saag Paneer was definitely disappointing. Not flavorful enough, and it lacked that anise hint that many Saags have. It was also lacking in Paneer, very little cheese. It was a shame, as it is my wife's favorite Indian dish. The curry prawns were good, had some kick. The only excellent thing we had was the Keema Mattar. Flavorful, not at all dry. Garlic Naan was good. The portions are smallish. Don't think we'll return. read more
