Went there as I saw some vegan options. We ordered aloo gobhi, tandoori roti, pagdi chaat and a soup. Really wanted to try their dumplings but they have dairy in it, wish it could be made vegan. My fav was aloo gobhi and papdi chat.

Great curries

If you're in Matthews Charlotte and craving authentic Nepali and Indian food, Curry Gate is a must-visit. Absolutely five stars across the board. The momos are incredible -- fresh, flavorful, and perfectly steamed. The curries are rich and well-balanced, with bold spices that taste truly authentic. Portions are generous, and everything comes out hot and beautifully presented. Service is warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Exceptional food, great hospitality, and fantastic value. Easily one of the best spots in the Charlotte area for Nepali and Indian cuisine. Highly recommended!

How you feel after eating at Curry Gate! #togobag

Curry Gate = New Fave Unlocked! The spot was super clean. The staff, amazing. The food, OH SO GOOD! Let's not get it twisted, I am not the expert of Indian food but all of my people are. Like for real. So we went on the recommendation of a foodie friend and it did not disappoint. Everything was so fresh and yummy. My favorite was the Garlic Naan, but keep in mind- I am a basic B. I dipped it in the Panner Methi Matter. Level 4 on the spice and it was so good. The rest of the table said the samosa was Fire. Steamed Dumpling were devoured. The Curry Chicken also did not stand a chance. I look forward to going back again and my friends are oh so happy they have a new favorite spot. Bravo Curry Gate!

Chicken tikki masala and butter chicken (couldn't wait to eat before taking picture)

I've been wanting to try the original curry gate for so long, so was pleased to see the new location open up near me! Food and service were 10/10 top notch. The quality of food and flavors stood out most. Tikki masala and butter chicken off the hook, garlic naan as good as I've ever had as well. The inside is nothing special to be honest fairly basic but I'm not going for the frills anyways. Our server was so sweet and kind and even let us try a delicious mango juice.

Coconut curry chicken and some kind of app:)

The food was delicious! I'll second the previous poster - as I'm also from Chicago where we are SPOILED with decadent authentic food from soooo many cultures- this is as good as it gets in Charlotte area. Service was kind and respectful. Timely. I'm an artist and I could have given a rats hind end about the "decor" lol Only downfall was I couldn't enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail with dinner. Maybe soon:)

Chicken 65...spice level 5

A part time Charlotte resident, home is Chicago, and I have high expectations for Indian food after being around some truly exceptional places there. And Curry Gate Matthews exceeded all my expectations. A completely enjoyable meal from start to finish. We have been to the location (Curry Gate 2) on South Blvd, and have always enjoyed. The food is always great, and service is always quick and with a smile. But the Matthews location, it just felt like they stepped up their game. I had the Chicken 65, Gobi Manchurian and Manchow soup, and it all came out piping hot and perfectly cooked. The Chicken 65 was the first time I had ordered this...though it will be a staple going forward. My husband had the corn soup. Garlic Naan and chicken Vindaloo. He thought it was the best he's had, including a previous trip here and the other CG locations. The spice was right on and everything tasted so fresh and cooked to order. I will say the restaurant itself is a little spartan in decor...but honestly I could care less with food this good. A pure pleasure tonight.

Chicken Korma

Quick lunch bite, the Chicken korma is packed with flavor, juicy chicken and a unique blend of coconut flavors 8/10. Dun biryanami had so much chicken drums everything was absolutely delightful 8/10.The Garlic naan was light airy and had just the right amount of garlic 10/10. Highly recommend this spot, friendly staff and excellent food. The only complaint is the inside was a bit bland but the food and experience makes up for it.

Chicken 65 - spicy level 7

This was a wonderful overall experience. The service was very friendly and attentive, the place was very clean, and food was flavorful. Chicken 65 at spicy level 7 was plenty of heat with the flavor and I also enjoyed some manchow soup. I look forward to trying new things in the future. $20 for those 2 items is a very good value.

Garlic Naan Tandoori Chicken - Half Portion Tikka Masala

I think this might be my new favorite Indian spot! My family has gotten food from here a few times and it has been 5/5 each time. The wait staff is awesome and super patient! I would recommend trying everything on the menu, we haven't disliked anything. Super clean on the inside and lots of seating.

Chick 65

Good food. The portion seemed small for the price. $14 for a small plate of chicken 65 with no bread. Especially when places like chillies offers 3 for me at $10. I know its different but its still crazy expensive. At least include free drink. Also ordered bryani. Rice was hard. Very little pieces of goat. Mostly rice. Expensive. Kind of wished i went to the buffet across the street for half the price. Also the mango lassi is very thick and filling. Wish i ordered a coke instead. But that my mistake. I know lassi is yogurt bassed

We did, driving to the Arboretum Shopping center on Providence Road: Ruchi. The interior is so clean and open that were surprised that they have been open for nearly a year! Certainly lots of space for parties and large groups. Very nice menu with lots of choices. Siva C. was our server and she answered our questions. Their spicy/heat scale is high of 10. Wife and I very much enjoy Gobi 65, fried cauliflower. Each Indian restaurant has their own take on how it is prepared, mostly either dry or wet, with some sauce on it. Their version at @13.99 was our best yet. The pieces of cauliflower were disappointedly small, but the flavor was wonderful. Apparently they soak the cauliflower in a tasty sauce and then heat it. It was so good that we ordered an additional order to take home. The emphasize Hyderabadi cooking, which is heavy on rice (biryani) dishes and rich brown sauces. Plenty of veggie dishes along with goat, chicken, lamb and shrimp versions. I had the Gongura Shrimp ($17.99) and it was excellent. Six medium sized shrimp were immersed in a delicious, thick brown sauce flavored with sorrel leaves, garlic, ginger and other spices. Outstanding! Because of the small sorrel leaves, the chef has to spice it to #6 to bring out the flavor. I found level 6 easily manageable. That sauce was so good that my wife, that will not touch seafood, did spoon that sauce on to rice and loved it. We also ordered Bullet Naan ($4.99) which is Naan bread sprinkled with green chilies. It was very good and eatable because the coating of chilies was lighter than we have experienced at other restaurants. We drank beer, the only one available that night was Rupee Pale Ale ($7.99) and is was a very mild IPA, so very tasty and drinkable. Excellent with Indian food. I think we have found a winner here to which we will return. Lots more dishes to explore.

We went for the dosas and that's what the majority of our group had. They weren't the huge rolls you can find out there. Still enough for a meal though. The Sambhar was excellent and spicy! The grilled sandwich was also really good normally called a Bombay sandwich, full of veggies and chutney and cheese and grilled to perfection. Served with potato chips and ketchup and chutney on the side for dipping. The pani puri was also on point. The pani being nice and spicy, the filling was also nice and full in the Puri's. Delicious. We got sone of their jelabi, which is kinda like a funnel cake, fried dough dipped in a simple syrup but with a saffron flavor. This was really fresh and crispy and sugary! It's hard to get this one right but this is worthy of a try. Great little place and it was busy on a Saturday night. Quick service and good food!
