First time here. Great spot. They definitely have beer and wine contrary to what the clankers will tell you. Enjoy!

Ordered spicy garlic momos, kadai chicken, garlic naan and roti. Momos were deep fried and yummy with a lot of sauce. Kadai chicken was ok, wouldn't get it again. The chicken was very tough to chew. Naan and roti were good. read more

Always love the food. Staff are polite and helpful. Would love a few more options, and some items are better than others when compared to other Indian restaurants in the area. That said, I've never been disappointed, and regularly crave their food. read more

First time trying Royal Biryani and we were pleasantly surprised! Dumplings were awesome! Lamb Biryani was huge, definitely can share with 2/3 people (mild spice was still spicy but good), butter naan was delicious and the white flour stuffed potato naan bread (mild) was perfect. Friendly staff and clean. We will be back if we are I. The area, if you need Indian food, don't hesitate, delicious!!! read more

We tried this place recently and ordered a few things, total was about 86$. We really enjoyed the samosas as they were quite flavorful, and the jaduee golbi. The 3 entrees we tried ,The base all tasted very similar and was really creamy , as if it had a lot of milk or cream in them . Overall not bad , but different than my usual spot . read more

The food tastes really authentic. While my chicken tikka marsala didn't taste like a 10 out of 10 spicy it still had good flavor. The food was fresh and the service exceptional. The place did not stop buzzing the whole time we were there. People were constantly coming in to place orders or visiting for the first time. The server really made the establishment feel welcoming. He has a great personality and was very open about what he knew and didn't know from the menu. I liked that he went to the kitchen to have questions answered. The mango lassi tasted cold and fresh. Like it was made in house. They advertised for fresh homemade sweet tea. The chili naan was cooked perfectly. And my husband enjoyed the chili chicken. Though it had a Chinese flavor to it, it tasted really good. We have gone back again since our last visit. And the food still hit. When you want local Indian food at a moderate price point, be sure to check out Royal Biryani in the Matthews/Monroe area. read more

The best in town! Not a fancy place or location but delicious, authentic with friendly staff. Here w what we get every single time: paneer tikka app, gobi app, chicken tikka masala, lamb methi matar (without paneer), garlic naan, veggie biryani! Can't go wrong here! read more

Really good Indian food!! The reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars are that there was a big sign in the window that said lunch special, but when I inquired about it, the employee said they only have a regular menu for the time being. It is a little pricier, $21 for an order of chicken tikka masala and naan bread. The chicken was a tad dry as I have had more tender chicken other places. Now for the good- the flavors were wonderful!! I love how you can pick the spice level on a scale of 1-10. I ordered my dish at a 2/10 level and it was perfect for me. The garlic naan was amazing! Very much a garlic flavor with this bread. And the serving was huge! 2 really nice sized pieces came with my take out meal. The portions are decent here! Service was friendly and my meal was ready in 15 minutes. I ordered carry out. I'll definitely add this place to my favorite lists. It may be my favorite Indian spot in Charlotte! read more

Cute little family run restaurant next to the Cinemark in Matthews. We stopped in to grab some dinner before seeing a movie. We shared the chicken tikka masala with rice and butter naan. I thought it was pretty good. We also ordered chicken biryani but we had to take it to go because it didn't come out in time. No beer or wine sold here. There were lots of people picking up orders so it seems like a popular spot. read more

We had paneer Biryani from this place. It was below average. We also had garlic chilli momo and that just really disappointed us. It had bad oil after taste read more

So far, I've only tried their Butter Chicken with the garlic naan and Chicken Biryani. Both dishes were INCREDIBLE! My boyfriend and I didn't speak a word while we were eating, which is incredibly rare and says a lot. Plus, the portions are huge! Absolutely worth the price and will be going back to try more! *Note: I gave this 4/5 stars because of their most recent health score (91/100, their lowest score yet). Sanitation is incredibly important to me and I want to feel like I can trust to restaurant and staff to provide clean utensils and properly stored food. If the score was 89 and below, I would have rated lower and probably not want to go back. read more

great food (very savory), portions and quick service. recommend the Jadue Gobi and the chana masala and of course garlic naan

We've just recently moved to Charlotte and have been on the hunt to find our new go to restaurants. We used to live right around the corner from the best, most authentic Indian place in Buffalo.. finding that replacement here has been challenging ... Until now !! We tried a bunch of things on the menu and everything was great!! Samosas, gobi, garlic naan, biryani, tikka masala, malai kofta, and vindaloo... It's a small spot, so seating is tight- it was packed when we went and there was always a line for pick-up... so you know it's good!! Definitely recommend! read more

They could have done better on the tikka masala and the rice was hard and crunchy seemed like they rushed my food together

Excellent fresh mango lassi, wonderful service. Delicious food. Cute cozy restaurant. Great location next to the Movie theater.

I went for salmon, but the only seafood they serve are shrimp. I enjoyed the lentil soup. The service was pleasant. read more

A local eatery with flair. But food servings were heavy on rice and lite on protein. Inside is clean and orderly. Parking is ample. Service was acceptable- but eccentric. Glad we tried it but would likely choose another option next time. read more

Absolutely blown away with how delicious this place was.... I had a bad experience with Indian food living in the Chicagoland region and have shied away from it since. But my date opted for me to try the tandoor chicken, curry goat, all 3 desserts and the goat biryani. Veg options as well are a plus Authentic spices and flavors, very homey and excellent service We ate a garlic bread(naan), an appetizer (chicken tandoor) - super juicy and 3 dishes on top of 3 desserts. Must try read more

I've returned tonight after a year to try the food again since a new owner has taken over. The menu had a lot of options and familiar ones with different titles. Like the restaurant before, the menu doesn't say if rice comes with the curry. I wanted to be sure to ask for rice. It did come with the meal because the total didn't change. I ordered the vegetable Shahi korma that has a nice amount of veggies. Usually I'd order chicken and ask for some veggies to come with it. The spice level ranged from 1-10. I picked 5 for a halfway point which was sensible. I could do a 6 next time. The garlic naan met my expectations. The food was much more appealing to the eye. I will return for more. I'll probably get the Kadai, carrot halwa, or the supreme rasmalai next time. read more

Quality food in an unassuming, casual location. Ordered the Jaduee Gobi appetizer and almost ate the whole dish by myself. Super crispy and flavorful. I also ordered the Tandoori Chicken. The chicken was excellent, though the side salad leaves something to be desired. Essentially it's a mix of raw veggies. But hey, anything tastes good dipped in yogurt sauce. The atmosphere is very casual. As in I came dressed like I'd just rolled out of bed on a Wednesday evening and felt right at home. This is a plus for me, but your mileage may vary. I'll also note that the service was decent. The gentleman helping me (His name was Vike? Might be butchering that) was quick, attentive, and made some helpful suggestions. Happy to have found a new go-to spot for my Indian food fix read more

I've eaten both inside and through takeout and it's the same great food everytime. I enjoy the Korma curry (a savory coconut flavor) with garlic naan. I like to add both vegetables and chicken. They provide more than enough food for multiple people to dine on a single entree. Everyone is so friendly inside also. And the mango lassi! so yummy read more

Stopped in randomly after leaving the movies. The staff was friendly and very helpful with answering questions and offering suggestions based on your preferences. Portions are great for the price in my opinion. Will definitely add this to my list of take out places to order from on my side of town. Also, try the bread. I'm going back just to try them with different meals now. So good. read more

This place is small but very homey. The staff treat you like a friend or family. The mango lassi was really good and not too sweet like some can be. We ordered the jaduee gobi for our appetizer and it came out after a few minutes and was super hot at first but we couldn't stop eating it. I could come here just to eat the cauliflower for a main dish but I didn't. I ordered the goat saagwala with some onion naan and Joe got shrimp tikka masala. (Shrimp isn't on the menu for tikka but we paid a little extra for it). The saagwala was also amazing and creamy with so much flavor but not spicy since I ordered a level 3. The tikka was good but not the best we've had and the rice was a little clumped but it was the end of the day so can't fault them for that. Over all will definitely be back to eat here again. Maybe try some of the dishes again or something new. read more

The spicier you want something, the more $ they charge. Very strange concept- never heard of it this before. $2 to increase spice level is so odd read more

If I were you... Get a curry! Partner and I decided we wanted some Indian food since we were in the area. It was easy to order on the phone and everything was repeated immediately after. Even though they didn't have chicken 65 (had to ask bc I wasn't looking at a menu while on the phone), she made a suggestion and the kathmandu chicken was great. The sagwala paneer and chicken Tikka masala were deliciously creamy. The rice was plentiful and fluffy. The plain Naan got a little chewy but I actually prefer it that way than too crispy. The service was impeccable too! I called and she said 20 minutes. We were just down the road so got there early. I decided to try going in 15 minutes after my call and it was freshly ready! The place is small but does have indoor dining open now. I'm really glad we stopped by. Continue to support local! We will definitely be back. read more

We've eaten here 3 times and each time it has been excellent! Great service, and outstanding food.

Made a large order to go, and they were able to accommodate. In the future I will order the night before. The service was friendly and helpful. But more then that the food was so yummy! I had Saag Paner, Chicken Tika Masala, garlic naan. And a Mango Lassi while waiting for the food. read more

Very small place but the food is exceptionally great. The samosas are great and very filing. I had the channah masalla (I probably butchered the spelling... sorry. I brought two friends back for another crack at this one. They both have just as much experience with Indian food as I. We ordered the Aloo Gobi, Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Biryani, plus two orders of Garlic Naan. The staff was on their A game tonight. Even the chef came out and did table checks. We ordered everything with a spice level of five and we liked the fact that the Tandoori came with sliced chili's so we could go up a notch or two if we wanted. Next time we will try the spice level of 7 and see where that leads. Alicia liked that the Tandoori Chicken was juicy. I liked that the chicken in the Biryani was tender. Karl liked everything. It's a great little restaurant for a date night. read more

One of the closer Indian food restaurants to where I live, and perfect for takeout! I've been very impressed with the food and flavors here, and I feel like they have some dishes that I haven't ever seen at other Indian restaurants (like shahi minced paneer). I appreciate that entrees come with rice, too. The samosas are some of the best I've ever had. I don't really have anything negative to say about this place. When I've called in orders, the person on the phone has been friendly. The portions are just right, and between appetizers and naan it usually means I've got enough for leftovers. I'm hoping to dine in sometime soon and catch a movie after, since they're right by the theater! read more

Honestly we had no expectations going in, The restaurant itself was quite small but man what an experience ! I've not had Indian food in quite a while, but this reminded me of why I love it so much. I'm from a city with a bunch of Indian restaurants. This is on par or better. The only mistake was on me, I didn't order spicy enough because I wasn't sure. I ordered a 3 and should have gotten a 5, that's if you're used to the spice. My son got a 1 level and even his was great. read more
