I've been meaning to update my review from 2 years ago because Currie Hall has fixed many of the problems that I was experiencing at that time. The internet is much better and I don't typically have issues. There have been random days where the internet will go out for an hour or so, but this is rare. All amenities are open and have been for a while. The gym is open 24 hrs and there is a really nice outdoor fireplace by the pool. There are also new pool cabanas with couches. The study room has new furniture, including chairs with individual desks and outlets with a surrounding divider which is really nice for focusing. The staff have always been very nice and helpful and continue to be. Theo and Leo are great and make an effort to get to know the names of residents. I took off one star for a few reasons. The rent is pretty expensive, but the convenience of being close to the USC HSC campus can't be beat. The other reason why I took off a star is because Currie does not have allotted parking spaces in the lot for residents. It's up to residents to get a permit from USC Transportation. The parking garage has limited permits and residents enter a lottery in hopes of getting a parking spot. Lastly, Currie requires residents to resign their lease in the Fall for the following Fall in order to keep the same space the following year. But overall, I would recommend Currie to USC HSC students because it's convenient, has nice amenities, and apartments are fully furnished. read more

I've been living at Currie hall for 4 years and as many have said before, as a student, this is NOT worth the expensive rent prices. - it's not guaranteed that you'll have the roommates that you want. When I switched apartments, I was originally assigned to the two roommates (we were all renewing), but one week before our 2nd lease started, they switched out one of our roommates to a different unit with no explanation and refused to hear us out - they try to get you to renew your lease in October for a "special rent deal" but last year, due to their decreasing popularity, their rent prices decreased the next spring. They refused to match their new prices. - the bulk internet you're forced to pay for doesn't work well. They did nothing about it for the longest time despite complaints. I used data on my phone for two years lol - they will play loud fire alarm testing at random with no prior notice so good luck taking your online tests and interviews - the fire alarm will frequently go off and they also recently installed a new smoke alarm system that plays mind blowingly loud noises. If you burn your toast even a little bit, gl fam. They will not do anything about it. - there is no guest parking and you will get ticketed for parking in the retail parking - you also have to pay an extra 1000+ a year to park on the 5th floor of the parking structure - the sound insulation between rooms sucks - if you live in phase 2 your room will be musty as you can't open your windows and you will hear and feel the rumble of the train every few hours Their only saving grace is that the maintenance staff are pretty nice and some of their staff members like Theo are great. I lived here for more than a year. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The main reason I stayed was to avoid a long commute. If you rent an apartment facing the street and railroad, the noise can be a serious issue. The train blows its horn throughout the day and night. I often struggled to get more than 4-5 hours of sleep at a time. The ongoing lack of sleep made it difficult to study and function normally. I tried different types of earplugs, but the noise was still extremely disruptive. I also noticed that the common area restrooms were frequently dirty or out of order, and supplies like soap and hand sanitizer were not consistently refilled. Given the cost of the lease, I personally don't feel the experience matched the price. I would recommend carefully considering the location of the unit before signing, or exploring other options if possible. read more

I would not recommend living here. I lived here for 2 years and honestly did not know how I survived. First off, good luck with the train that literally comes by every other hour, making it impossible to study. The floors are very thin to the point where you can literally hear the person walking above you. Walls are also very thin so you can literally hear your other roommates. If you live in phase 2, you cannot open your windows, so if someone's cooking, goodluck. Also have to add that you have to pay for parking. This place has great amenities and a convenient location, but I've never dealt with a team so careless and irresponsible when it comes to handling money. There were discrepancies with my rent, and I was owed a refund of a large amount. I was told it would take 1-2 weeks to process, it's now been a month, and I still haven't received anything. What's most frustrating is the constant runaround. Every time I reach out, I'm told something different or completely ignored. It's unbelievable how unorganized and unprofessional they are with residents' money. I've had to call multiple times, follow up through email, and still haven't gotten a straight answer or any accountability. It's honestly disappointing because I really liked living here. If I could give this place 0 or Negative star, I would. Here is the breakdown: 1. They do not provide parking for their residents and you need to purchase parking and that's if you win the lottery. Additionally, the parking is on the fourth floor of the parking station and in the back only because priority parking is given to the Hyatt hotel next to currie hall. 2. For your last month, you pay a full month of rent but the lease requires you to leave on the 12th of the month which sounds like a scam. Thats a full minty of rent when you're only staying 2 weeks. How does that make any sense??? 3. It is right next to the cargo train station. The train is very loud throughout the day and night and it parks there for a very long time (sometimes over 2 hours). This blocks the major road where people need to leave for school or work and you need to take a longer alternative route that adds major amount of time to your commute. 4. It is not study friendly. Both phases 1 and 2 only have 4 study rooms TOTAL for over a few thousands of students ?? Again, very poor planning . Being able to get one of those rooms is almost impossible because it is first come first serve and it is not monitored. Meaning some students can leave their water bottle in there for hours and go get food outside, attend lecture at school, and come back to room. 5. Phase 1 is very dirty. It is next to the garbage and it smells horrible. Multiple instances o rats in the hallway and roaches. 6. Internet is very bad and slow. 7. You need to pay $19.99 extra for processing fee when paying rent every month. 8. Rooms are very old and some have mold which they do not fix fast. 9. Absolutely no guest parking. How does that make sense??? 10. They supposedly provide free coffee and hot chocolate but they are never refilled. 11. The company is not receptive of any feedback they get. GOOD THINGS!!! 1. Don't go here even if it is convenient. It's too expensive for what it is. Renewing your lease is also a mistake. If you have an emergency where you can no longer stay there is no exemption to exit from contract and must pay total amount even if you are no longer there. Also: 1. They will not help you find someone to replace you. 2. They will falsely claim damages that you are not responsible for, but say that you are. Take pictures as I did to dispute damages of your move in and move out, aka always take pictures when you move in and move out this is good practice in general for any renter. 3. They will prolong disputes then send to collections agency. 4. You will be charged for days you are not there even though your lease ends earlier than the full month of when you started and ended your lease. 5. If you are sublease they will "claim" that you will have a smaller amount to pay every month because you took over later, but this is false. Aka the person you took over for left halfway through the month and you took over the rest of the month you will still pay the entirety of the month and so too will the former leaseholder. read more

Move in date was 7/30 and move out date was 7/13, however, residents get charged 12 whole months. On move in date we get our key fog and mailbox key. During August, a very hot month, the pool was closed for renovation. Parking was $118 for the San Pedro location but there usually is a wait if you don't apply early, and there's no guarantee you'll get parking. The pool was closed multiple times during our "year" stay. The Starbucks coffee/hot chocolate dispenser was often out of order. When it was working (available only during business hours), the hot chocolate was often diluted with water. The water filter in the rec room has an orange light (meaning it needed to be changed), but never saw it once changed. The sink and tub was constantly clogged and while they unclogged them in a timely manner, they clogged again shortly after. Heard this happens in multiple units. The trash room was very stinky and sticky and got full quickly. There were multiple ROACHES out of the apartment, especially in the bushes on Alcazar street. There were also multiple roaches seen on their "rooftop" deck. Also, the AC and train were extremely loud, been woken up multiple times due to the AC and train. And, their internet works 50% of the time. Pavlov Media is their internet provider that are supposedly 24/7 if you are able to reach them... internet usually goes out around 10pm or 11pm. During March, they had everyone move their belongings off the floor so they can renovate the apartment floor. Extremely inconvenient during exam season. After moving out, they charge for every little thing. Expect to get charged a couple hundred during move out. Multiple residents can attest to this. Overall, there are more affordable apartments around the area. It's expensive to live here, you're paying for the location. Would not stay here again. Too much headache living here. read more

Here's an honest review: No one needs to live here. P1 and M1 are rushing out to get an apartment nearby after they experience this place for a year. And here is why: 1. TRAIN: It must have been very clear on the lease agreement that this place is built next to the railroad. It runs 24/7 and yes you wake up 3 AM 4AM 5AM by the train honks. The train passes almost every hour. How bad could it be? It chipped away edges of my dishes because of the repeated honk vibrations. Windows are NOT double layered so you get to hear the sound louder than max computer volume. You better get a good noise cancelling headphones. I personally have prescribed to melatonins to get a fair sleep. 2. NO WINDOWS: Yup, there is no window. If you cook ramen, it goes for a week to get that smell out. You can also smell the gas for so long even with all the vents turned on. 3. RENT: they are taking $2,600 per month for a single studio. Nearby apartment offers anywhere from $1,800 to $2,200 including the utility. So keep shopping. Your last choice with poor judgement should be the Currie Hall. 4. MANAGEMENT: I have been emailing them many times for their help. The earliest you get a reply is 8 days. If you lose a key, you might need to find a place to live elsewhere for a week. 5. UTILITY: You pay separate utility bills to LADWP. This is not included in your rent. Yet, hot water comes in and out so frequently. Summary: This place is very illegal and inhabitable place designed to take advantage of young students who don't have much experience living elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and compare the ratings. Recommendations: Find a place at Ktown(20mins) of Jtown(10mins) or even apartments nearby. Save money you might put into Currie Hall and rather finance/lease a car. read more

If you're looking for a Jet2Holiday, pack your bags for disappointment--Currie Hall is the place for you. But if you're seriously considering this as an option, do yourself a favor and RUN. This place is a scam dressed up as "student housing." My fridge and stove barely work, the dishwasher couldn't clean a spinach leaf, and repairs drag on for weeks if they happen at all. Management ripped out carpeting so now I get to hear stomping, washing machines, and disposals at all hours of the night, but instead of fixing the problem, they hand out noise violations to tenants. Maintenance has entered my unit without permission while I was asleep, showering, and even changing clothes. The microwave vent goes nowhere but into a cabinet, the bathroom fan is wired incorrectly, and the building as a whole feels like it couldn't pass inspection if anyone actually looked closely. The so-called community events are a complete sham--I've never once seen a raffle winner announced--and with all the money they waste on these activities, they could actually put it into upkeep of the building. Instead, rent increases every single year while basic issues remain ignored. The study rooms stink, the pool chlorine burns your skin, and everything about this facility proves that Currie Hall doesn't care about its tenants, only about squeezing every dollar they can. And if you actually do your research, you'll notice the only positive reviews are on Google--because they solicit tenants to write them in order to make this place look better than it is. Everywhere else, the reviews are piss poor, and unfortunately, they're the most accurate reflection of what living here is really like. *Review is for the 3 night minimum housing for USC patients/family* My family stayed and I stayed for 8 nights and had a wonderful experience. Manny was a pleasure to work with. Any and all questions/inquiries were tended to in a very timely manner. Everything was very clear beforehand and checking in/out was simple. Manny even gave us his personal number for any questions or concerns we might have. Room was new, clean, and had everything that the advertisement said it would have. For those commenting about medical staff on site and size/height of beds, you should really consider asking those questions before booking a stay if any of that is a necessity or concern. It is clearly advertised as dorm rooms being rented on a 3 night minimum basis for USC patients/family, not a medical facility of any type. Also, there is indeed a motel 2 blocks from the hospital. I think USC Currie Hall is a fabulous housing option especially being literally right next to the hospital. My family and I are very thankful for this option. read more

I gave 5 stars to the apartment during my stay but here's the time to reconsider it. My roommate and I were charged over $600 when we moved out even we cleaned every part of our unit. The largest amount on our bill is a bathtub chip that costs $400 for both of us. Seriously, both of us left a little chip on our bathtub at the same time? What's the probability of that coincidence? I've shot a video as I moved out and there is no single damage on the left bottom of the bathtub where the chip was found later. Pic 1 and 2 are from my phone and 3 is what they gave me for the proof. Do you guys using microscope? And how does that comes to $400? In short, don't recommend anyone live here since they are known of overcharge during your move-out. The front desk and maintenance are good but the move-out charge is unreasonable. The air conditioning is super loud even you turn it completely off, I couldn't sleep during nights. And the train, no one even mentioned this, the train horns at 2am ish and 4am ish and 6am ish, for horn, I mean SUPER LOUD HORN. I don't understand. I can only get a 4b4b when I was applying, but I didn't expect that we share same rent but I'm getting a room that close to both washer/dryer and utility room, at the same time is the smallest one according to the view of the 4b4b floor plan. This is a review regarding the housing for patients at Keck only and not a comment on residential life. My family member was scheduled to have a procedure done and we were able to book a three-day stay at Currie Hall. The minimum is three days to stay here. It apparently is very coveted because the nearest hotel is 3 miles away, however, I would advise any patients on staying here. First of all, it is not built to be a room for patients. It is built to be a dorm room. The bed is a full size, meaning that it barely fits normal sized American adults comfortably. Furthermore, it is raised much higher than a normal hotel bed. I literally had to pull my family member up on the bed and help them come off the bed every time due to the height of the bed and my family members are each 5'6 and 5'5. These Keck suites are marketed as competitors for other hotels given the close proximity to the hospital compared to the nearest hotel which they said was three miles away. But there are no hotel amenities here regarding the cleaning. There is no cleaning service available, there are no new towels or changing of sheets. Our room was dirty when we arrived and the management told us that "the turnover is so quick that sometimes we can't clean everything but there are cleaning supplies in the room and we might forget to clean under the couches." There are one or two bedroom suites available. They only have full sized beds, and you can't change the size of the beds in the room or add a cot. They have a living area with one couch, which does not have a pull-out. There are no extra sheets and you need to bring your own. Cost wise they said this was highly subsidized compared to the hotels in the surrounding area at 165 dollars a night. There is a minimum 3 night stay bringing your total to 495. Then on top of that they charge you an occupancy tax which brings your grand total if you stay the minumum to 564.30 dollars. With a quick search on Airbnb, I was able to find adequate housing for much cheaper. Sadly, I was not able to change the reservation that was already made. They also state that there is someone around 24 hours. And given that this is on an advertisement for patients, one would assume it meant medical staff, but its really just a receptionist, so don't let your families members get confused when they try to book here. Manny is the manager. He is very pleasant for what he has to do. He even agreed with me in stating that this place is not suited for patient care. However, really could not offer much resolution to any of my problems and sort of said you signed up for this. On the positive side of things, there is a pool, gym, in unit laundry, but when your family member is being treated at the hospital I am sure that is the least of your worries. Given that my family was in going through such a sensitive time, this living situation really just destroyed the whole experience. I ended up having to stay at a place nearby and leaving my family member. I just would not recommend this place for any family and would not want anyone else to go through the experience we did. read more

Lived here for 4 years. Overall a nice building with decent amenities and the staff was usually pretty helpful, especially maintenance. When I first moved in, it was a great deal and I liked it. But they increase rent pretty significantly each year and make you re-sign 10ish months before the new lease would begin. They also threaten to raise the rent more if you don't do it that early. Between that and the decrease in resident events and services even before the pandemic, I don't think it's at all worth it anymore. Especially if you get a room near the train in phase 1 or probably any room in phase 2, it's LOUD and even worse if you're also near all the parking lot noise, the screaming kids at the daycare, or the places they randomly leaf-blow at 6am. Dozens of stories of pandemic related lease issues too with people getting billed thousands but I can't speak too much to that. They also illegally charged me and most people I talked to the same routine maintenance fees after moving out--touch up paint, room cleaning--so that they can take your security deposit, despite cleaning the room to their written standards in the lease before leaving. Really put a cherry on top of all the nickel and diming from American Campus Communities, which is probably because they know they can get away with it. If you're a USC student, the school has no pull with them despite them advertising to make you think they're affiliated. Would've recommended it before. Not anymore. Look elsewhere until they turn things around. read more

To make things clear, I have been living at Currie Hall since winter 2018 and it has been a great experience and I had never had an issue with them in 2 years until the global pandemic happens. Due to the impact of COVID-19 as an international student, I did not found a job and have to go back to my home country (plus tons of pressure due to Trump's wild new policies). Now this situation comes: I returned my keys, signed re-let form and trying to looking for someone to take my lease. After two month's finding sublease by posting advertisements everywhere, with a reduction of price from 1400 to as low as 1000, I still cannot find anyone interested. Like, seriously, why people would pay 1k4 rent when classes are all online? This apartment itself now even have roughly 70 rooms left empty but they still want me to sublease my room out? So I want to break my lease - notice I still want to be decent with Currie at this point, that I offer to pay penalty and give up the deposit. Guess what all agents at Currie and customer service at American Campus tell me? ALLL ARE repeating ROBOTS, saying "Oh I understand, but you are still financially responsible for your lease until you find someone takes your lease...... " while I am saying I am not in this country anymore and I do not have money in my account to pay rent until the end of the lease. There is such a protection law in my home country that you must have a solid reason to transfer money to the US, not to mention my family income was impacted by pandemic. When i was trying to explain, obviously, nobody in this apartment or management can comprehend English and keep repeating that sentence to me. In short, just like Charlotte K.'s review said, DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE. THERE ARE TONS OF OPTIONS AROUND BEING SAFE AND MUCH, MUCH CHEAPER. (They raise their rates every year like 1k3 to 1k4 for you to stay in the same room.) And more importantly, people here only CARES ABOUT THEIR MONEY rather than care about real residents w/ real difficulties. Been here for 3 years and it was the most quiet, clean and at the same time feels home. Staff are very accommodating and responsive. The only thing for residents is the parking and hopefully they can somehow accommodate residents to park at San Pablo closer to the housing. The best part about the apartment complex was the maintenance staff. They were always very diligent in fixing things and providing great service. Leo, in particular, always went above and beyond. The leasing office was also helpful during our moving out process. The negatives: the printing hardly ever worked. When they decided to close all of the amenities/community spaces because of Covid, the place lost any sort of community and we no longer had access to a lot of what we initially paid for. read more

My husband was scheduled for surgery and I needed to make arrangements for a place to stay for a few days as we live 49 miles from the hospital. I tried multiple times to call to make a reservation. No one ever answered the phone and I had to leave multiple messages and sent multiple emails but got nothing. Surgery is a stressful experience especially so far from home. They advertised the "benefits" to patients and families but being ignored only added to the stress of having to take care of my husband and being in a very unfamiliar part of the city. Do not, under any circumstance, find yourself in a lease with Currie Hall, regardless of how "convenient" this may be for you as a medical student. Imagine yourself waking up sweaty because your AC unit air doesn't reach your room, and being told that there is nothing you can do about it. 1. The AC in the 4b/4b does NOT cool down all four rooms. It cools down 2 rooms (which get all of the air -3/4 degrees from the common room), and the other two units are left to be +3/4 degrees hotter than the common room. Additionally, since Currie didn't have the mechanical foresight or the engineering ingenuity to put a return of air in the second half of the apartment, only the cold part of the apartment's air is getting recycled. That leaves the other two rooms (including mine) extremely humid. Turning on the fan doesn't work. I just walk into my room into a wall of heat and humidity. 2. When I tried to address this issue by placing two work requests, I was told both times that the difference in temperature was "just the way it is", and that I must "run hot". They offered no interventions that would help the situation besides just turning the thermostat down (so we have to pay more in electric for /your/ mistakes?). He tried to get me to "feel" the air coming out of my vent (which I could barely feel even when I put my hand up against the vent). 3. They told me that I "was the only one complaining" about this AC issue, but when I reached out to my class-wide group chat, numerous students (even in 2b/2b situations) had the same exact issue! It is uncomfortable to study, exist, and sleep in a space that I am paying for. It's very clear that Currie only cared about getting my money, and once I got here they didn't care how my stay was AT ALL. I honestly can't believe this. Before my time here at USC HSC as a medical student, I worked for my undergraduate university's housing and dining service. I can safely say that our group of university students were more capable and organized to fulfill requests than Currie Hall. Issues about AC were considered emergencies and we didn't stop until the room was able to cool down. They don't care at Currie. They see you as a dollar sign and that's it. read more

Pros: Currie Hall is an okay housing option for those attending USC on the Health Science Campus. They offer single, double, tipple, and quadruple housing options. In each apartment, you have your own room and bathroom, but share a kitchen and living room with your other housemates. Because you are so close to HSC, you can leave minutes before class and still arrive on time. The convenience is hard to beat. The common areas have a pool, pool table, ping-pong table, jacuzzi, fireplace, and study area. The amenities are great. The staff is also great; both front desk and maintenance. They are always friendly and try to help. Cons: Rent is fairly expensive for what your getting, and they seem to raise it around 80-90 dollars each year. Units seem to cost around 1100-1400 per month, excluding the cost of electricity (15-35 per month). Given this high price (and rising) other options such as an apartment in Pasadena or Alhambra are starting to seem better. Although, this would mean a commute, you would be paying hundreds of dollars less for rent. As I mentioned, the amenities are great, however there are commonly issues with them. Pool cues are missing and tips or are broken (except for 1 or 2), there is free printing, but it is common for there to be no paper, and the sauna breaks many times throughout the year leaving it cold. Additionally, mail pickup is only during weekdays business hours, this means if you are working a clinical rotation for your program and cannot get to the office during the week, you can't get your mail, unless you have a friend get it for you. Parking is also an issue, it costs hundreds of dollars a semester and parking in adjacent neighborhoods could be dangerous. It is generally, not safe to walk outside of the campus here, meaning if you want to do something you need to Uber or drive somewhere else (check crime maps for yourself). There have been shootings and gang activity outside the campus area here. Lastly, and the biggest concern, the noise level at Currie is much too high (during the day and night). Currie hall is right next to train tracks with a crossing. This means, there are regular loud train horns throughout the day and night (yes, even at 3am). The trains will also idle on the tracks and screech as they pass. This noise is compounded by the new construction projects even closer than the train (which go all day and continue into the weekend), loud helicopters landing at hospital and at the LAPD headquarters, noisy park events. And one thing especially important to note, Currie hall will be building a new location even closer to the train crossing (20 feet away). I feel bad for anyone that has to live there. read more

Based on the fact that they pretty much played me and countless others I have to give them one star only. I moved into Currie hall August of 2016, I found them on craigslist. I immediately reach out to them. My leasing agent was Katherine the first question I asked her was is this housing for USC students only. Her response was "No as long as you're a student anywhere you can live here. We are an independent company we are not owned by USC." Fast forward to November 2016 (3 months after moving in) I receive a non-renewal letter that was taped to my door. The letter was so generic, didn't give an explanation, nor did it have contact information and wasn't even signed ( Agent for owner?). When I went to the leasing office, I asked Katherine to explain the notice to me. of course she tried to talk circles around me and the only thing she would tell me was that USC changed the rules and that the decision was on corporate level. Really contradicting to what I was told when I was being recruited to move in, which was that you guys were not USC owned so how do they have the authority to tell you who you can and can't lease to. I then contacted corporate (American campus communities) who was so shady, first time when I called I spoke to a woman I told her the situation she had no idea what was happening and told me she would get back to me once she investigated. I told her I'd prefer her to email me in regards to this situation once she had more information she was ok with that. A week later she called me to tell me that she will not be emailing me. She also stated they will not give me any information on the matter in writing. she then told me that I can go back and refer to management within the leasing office. Then she hung up in my face. It's pretty clear that Currie hall had this plan in place all along to rent out bed spaces to anyone their first year opening to insure that they fill up, then kick out everyone not USC affiliated once they have enough demand. To have me sign a lease under false pretenses is so unethical. Currie hall, I find it impossible that in you contract between USC to build on their land that USC had no terms in the contract regarding leasing or their right to change rules in regards to leasing at their discrepancy. therefore why was that information not disclosed in my lease. My lease literally had a section stating Currie hall can't guarantee that all tenets are even students. So you kick everyone not USC affiliated out and then have to nerve to not change that in the new lease for 2017-2018 school year about the USC affiliation being mandatory. You guys always trying to bring up the lease and point out that it's a binding contract but didn't even add the new rules in the new lease. I can go on forever you guys are grimy, unethical, really played a bunch of college students the way you guys did. your karma will come. I just know you guys will continue to play people one way or another so I couldn't sleep at night if I didn't warn future tenants about the Currie hall ways. You may think that because your USC affiliated and you move here your safe from the scams but let me tell you never trust any business who has these characteristics and moral traits. read more

This is a great service for family members who want to stay near their loved ones receiving treatment at Keck. Communication can be a challenge but persistence is key. The suites themselves are nice and equipped with everything you might need down to a can opener. There's cable and several streaming apps. The students who share the dorm are quiet and respectful. ACC, who owns Currie Hall, is simply an unprofessional company. They change the lease on their terms and do not even notify you. Their marketing is false and management does not care about students. Students should understand that ACC's mission is not "student driven". They are profit driven and you will be treated accordingly. Please, please, please have no other option before signing a lease that will be impossible to get out of. read more

Currie Hall is a prime example of corporate greed and predatory behavior. They will do anything to get you to sign the lease, including offering "limited time" discounts and once you do, you're absolutely trapped in one of the worst housing situations in LA. I have lived here for 2.5 years and they raise the rent by close to 100 dollars every year. They pulled me in the past year with free parking, in the nearby parking lot. That lot is already shared with all the Keck hospital staff, so parking was already limited. However then they built a phase 2 which made parking even harder. Then, with the completion of the Hyatt hotel, they gave/sold the first three floors to the Hyatt hotel, meaning now you have to go to at least the third floor to find parking. Realistically, expect to park on the fifth floor if you can even get parking. On top of that, they'll ask you to sign a lease for the next year school year (starting in July) in September of the current year. They'll threaten you that you'll lose your spot, pressuring you into signing the lease. Once you sign it, you cannot back out, and will have to pay their rent even if you decide not to live there (for reasons like COVID leading to virtual classes). The only way to get out is to find someone to take over the rent, but now with their price hikes no one is willing to take on this lease. Next, they say this is a place for students, but you'll lose a few hours each week trying to get working internet. The water will never be hot, and on some days when the heating stops working you'll have to shower in cold water (has happened on multiple occasions while I was there). The one good thing I'll say is the janitorial staff are extremely kind and friendly. If you can find any other housing within 30 miles of the HSC campus/Keck Hospital (and there is a lot), you will be 100x better off! read more

It's really disappointing to see the reception staff walking around with N95 masks when we have doctors dying from mask shortages. To make matters worse, if you don't push down the nose piece and wear eye protection it's worthless, so they are literally going to waste. Please consider donating them to the hospital instead and wearing a homemade one. read more

He did an excellent job in response to our maintenance request, promptly arriving within an hour of submitting the request and solving the issue while also providing a patient explanation of the problem. read more

The building is located across the street from a sketchy park where tons of homeless people park their RVs and live there. My roomate's car got broken into when she parked there once. Not to mention the train which passes by directly behind Phase II. The train sometime stops completely right at the entrance closest to the apartments so you have to drive all the way around to the other side of the campus to get around it. The train is also SO loud and while I guess I now have selective hearing and don't notice it as much, when I first moved in it was impossible to sleep through the blaring noises. The lease deals are crap for how much rent is and how little we get out of everything, especially for those of us that lived here throughout the pandemic. The kitchen and common areas in the apartments are nice, but the rooms are small. One or both of the elevators are always out of order in Phase II, which sucks when you are trying to bring your groceries up to your apartment. The windows in the rooms at Phase II do not open so you cannot air out your room and the rooms can get musty. If you get locked out you have to pay like $70 bucks for a new key. Also, like everyone else has been saying in these reviews, the internet is not reliable. The staff is usually nice, which is the only upside, but even then they are not accommodating, especially during the pandemic. Oh and the building is located on a short one way street that is the only street to access the parking structure, Currie Hall, Phase II AND Hyatt Hotel so it is hell trying to drive out of here in the mornings when everyone in these buildings is also trying to leave/arrive. Needless to say, if you can find another living accommodation near campus, that is your best bet. read more
