Great food, although a very limited selection of on tap beer - it's a local place to go with friends. Crowd ranges in age from 30 on up.

Our waitress was very friendly and ended up leaving a pitcher of water once she saw we were parched. The salad bar wasn't huge, but there were some cold dishes along with salad fixings, which is part of the vintage charm. The bread (not complementary) was also a huge round loaf great for sharing. The decor's medieval vibe is very charming and it's nice looking around the room. The kitchen is open to the dining room with big brick ovens. I had the prime rib which was big and juicy (the baked potato was fine but the Yorkshire puff was bland and barely editable soaked in juice - may just be I don't like this food). The steak came with a giant onion ring which was delightful, and it was cooked perfectly tender. This place thrives in your meat and potato staples, so not a lot of side options except what's at the salad bar. For dessert, we had to try the peach melba delight, which was a giant goblet of vanilla ice cream, peaches in juice, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. Deceptively simple but extremely tasty and great to share There's a large bar area and the bathrooms are nice. This place is great for larger groups that include older people. The food is good and the atmosphere did feel like it was from another time, but we had a good time, and it's nice to see a place like this still around.

As a vegetarian, I can't recommend their seitan cheese steak highly enough - it was savory comfort food wrapped in a perfectly balanced amount of delicate hoagie bun. The mixed greens salad was also pretty top notch. My husband loved his steak frites and didn't expect such a nice cut of meat. We both had beers recommended by our attentive server and she nailed it. She also knew we were in a rush and got us in and out with time to spare. We will be back!

Since the bar seats were full, we had the choice to head all the way to the 2nd rear bar. We took the short journey to the secluded small bar that was also full and took refuge at one of the four tables. We took a look at the "Beer Bible" or their version of a drink menu. The bartender informed us that we could not sit at the table unless we were ordering food. At this point we ended our pub crawl and left defeated scratching our heads. This was far from a classy place without a line out the door during the week which made it even more alarming. Interesting experience as our last taste of Philly.

We asked for the toppings on the side because, you know, kids, but WOW. The vodka sauce was delicious, and the pickled tomato concoction that came with them? I could've bathed in it. The calamari was perfectly crisp and came with the unexpected bonus of onion rings, which were ever-so-lightly battered and perfectly crunchy. And once again, the sauces were superb. The boys shared a cheese pizza, half pepperoni, and really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the burger, and yes, I stole a bite--and yes, to no one's surprise, it was amazing. We also ordered the charred broccoli after seeing everyone rave about it online. They were NOT wrong. Creamy, smoky, charred perfection. And finally... drumroll please... the 10 oz. smoked Duroc pork chop! OH. EM. GEEE. Perfectly charred on the outside and incredibly juicy inside, sitting in the most delicious smoky morita-apricot glaze and topped with a bright cucumber-melon salad with mint and blue basil. The contrast was perfection! The rich, smoky pork, the sweet and slightly spicy glaze, and that cool, fresh salad on top. Every bite had the perfect combination of flavors and textures. Easily one of the best pork chops I've ever had. As wonderful as the food was, the service somehow made the experience even better. From the minute we arrived, we were treated like family coming home for the holidays. Warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. What an absolute joy of a restaurant. Darling Jack's, I WILL be back!

The lobster ravioli was 50/50 for me personally, while the lobster was cooked well and the sauce flavorful, the only lobster was what was topped on the ravioli and not actually stuffed in with the cheese like I was expecting. It was still good, just not as "lobster ravioli" as Im used to. The pizza is a very thin crust but they did a wonderful job of not burning the crust despite this. There was a lao a really nice distribution of pepperoni throughout the pizza and it never really gave that "greasy" feeling that can happen.

This way it was easy for our group to talk. I saw someone else drinking a drink that looked really good so I just ordered that without looking at the menu. It was in a champagne glass and had an orange peel in it. This drink was delish and I would order it again. I ordered the caesar w salmon. The salad itself was fine but the dressing didn't taste at all like caesar dressing. I still ate the whole thing - but just didn't love the dressing. Reviewers rated Moriarty's short ribs highly, and though I hesitated to order risotto take out, I want for it. Sorry, no pics but trust ne when I say it was delish! The portions were great (there were a few spears of asparagus) and the lukewarm risotto (expected considering it was delivered) was creamy and flavorful. There was a but more oil than I would have liked floating at the bottom, and the sauce was a bit salty, but not so much that I couldn't enjoy the super tender morsels of beef. I look forward to trying something else on the menu soon.
