I paid $18 for a small soup , a lunch special fried chicken & a d&g soda that's a steal in this economy & the food was delicious. This place is usually my go-to CURLYS if he were to make the food himself, hands down the best Jamaican in PBC. But, recently he's changed chefs and I'm not a fan of the way he cooks. Oxtail used to have more of a balanced meat-bone-fat ratio and gravy was tasty and thick. Now it's like his entire recipe is different. I went there today w/ my boyfriend & the owner of the restaurant who was working at the front ultimately disrespected us. Food isn't even all that which is why I stopped going years ago but my bf is Jamaican & prefers his culture's food. He randomly chooses a spot & didn't tell me. Anyway, the jerk chicken was a winner, rice and peas were cooked well also. Other Jamaican restaurants I've been to seem to neglect the flavors of the side orders and the rice can be dry, but Curly's is on point. The rice was fluffy and moist, and you can taste the coconut milk it's cooked with. Curry chicken was also good but not much spice which I would've enjoyed. Had a good beef patty to top it off.
