Brown Stew Chicken
Roy F.

My wife and I enjoyed a great meal, (two meals with our leftovers), at Yaadman Kitchen Jamaican Restaurant in the Boynton Beach Mall. We discussed the fact that even though it is not an independent brick and mortar restaurant, what we had was truly a five star meal. The menu choices include an option for Small or Large portions of your selection with accompanying sides. You get two sides with the Small and three sides with a Large, (two people could easily share a Large)! Prices are very reasonable and the amount and quality of food you receive is amazing. Finding a lunch of this caliber for under $30 (for two) is a great bargain! We both had a Small order of the Brown Stew Chicken with Peas and Rice, Plantains, and extra brown gravy. Each small box felt like 4lbs each as we carried them the table. The Chicken was well cooked, seasoned and tender. The Peas and Rice were traditional home cooked style. The plantains were soft and sweet. The Brown gravy was rich, savory and had tender slices of carrots, bell pepper and potatoes. We ate our fill at a table in the food court, and as mentioned earlier, had enough leftovers to take home for our dinner later that evening. The friendly and helpful service behind the counter was an added plus and a deciding factor in this Five Star review!

Jerk pork, pumpkin, cabbage - damn delicious!!!

I come from a mixed Jamaican family, and this food is fireeeeee. There are so many flavors packed into these dishes. Compliments to the jamaican chef, out here making dreams come true. We were wowed by this food, mostly because this was in the Boynton Mall. But daaaaamn!!! Talk about flavor!!!! The food was fresh, just made at 11am. You can tell a lot of love went into this cooking. There was even jamaican music jamming loud in the back for the cooks to cook to. Everything we got was delicious. We are from yaaad and 10 out of 10, highly recommend. Ackee and Saltfish - straight perfection Jerk Pork - so damn delicious and juicy!!! FAVORITE Side of steamed cabbage - taste suh sweet Side of pumpkin/squash - simple and delish

My boyfriend and I came in after seeing such great reviews. I sampled the jerk chicken and it was so delicious, so we both got jerk chicken with rice and peas. We got a hefty amount. The food was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. It tastes like they smoke the chicken and make their own home made sauces and seasonings - nothing out the package. We will be back often !

I grew up in Boynton Beach. Tropical Island was never my first option for island or Hatian Food…read more because of the reputation that the restaurant had before when it was in the old location up the Street I decided to try this restaurant for the first time since his new location has been open for about a year or two. Surprisingly, when I walked in the restaurant was clean and up-to-date, the staff was super nice and greeted me initially when I came in the door with a friendly Hello! I checked out the scenery, of course, and noticed that in the new location the kitchen was open and you can see the staff preparing the food. Once I got to the register, I explained it was my first time there at this new location. The staff quickly gave me a rundown of the menu and dinner options available to me. One of the staff members also explained the difference between the two meat choices I was interested in. impatiently waited for me to make the final decision on which dinner plate I was interested in ordering. After paying , my food came out and about 10my food came out in about 10 minutes tops. The cashier opened the plate containing my food to show me how hot, fresh, and tasty looking my food was. Lastly, He secured my food with a plastic bag and handed me all of the items I purchased. I thought to myself what took me so long to actually come to this restaurant. It was such a great experience. I love the grow of the restaurant Customer Service different from the past experiences. I have had with this restaurant when it was in the location overall the experience was great and the price for one large plate of Griot was only $15. You cant beat that with a fat stick lol! Cheers to growth!

I don't generally write bad reviews but this one warranted one. This had to be the most sad plate…read moreof Jamaican food I've ever been served, if you can even call it Jamaican. For starters I ordered jerk pork and was given jerk chicken. Fine. Whatever. I really wanted the pork but I like chicken too. The chicken had zero jerk flavor. And when I say zero, I mean absolutely nothing. No spice. No pimento, thyme, garlic, ginger....nothing. It legit just tasted like grilled chicken. Insanely disappointing. I also ordered a side of their "special sauce" which I paid for and never received. Maybe that would have helped but I'll never know. I also got their curry chicken plate. Again....zero flavor at all. And no curry sauce to speak of. Just lightly coated yellow pieces of chicken that seemed like they just cooked it in turmeric and water. Horrible. The gunga peas and rice tasted like cardboard. Thank god I had some pepper sauce I made a few days ago because if I didn't this entire meal would have been borderline inedible. With all the great Caribbean restaurants we have down here I will absolutely never recommend (no) Flavors Caribbean to anyone.

Probably the best of it's kind that we've ever had. And I've been to Jamaica a few times and to most of the Caribbean islands. The sauce was so delicious we wanted to eat it like soup with a spoon. We stopped in for lunch. It's mainly a takeout place, but they do have a couple booths and a small counter with a few stools for dine in. We chose to eat there. And while we were eating, we saw a line of people coming for takeout and pickup. My husband got their "small" brown stew chicken and it looked so good, I got the same. You can see the food right in front of you at the counter where you order. They also had oxtail, curried chicken and curried goat, and jerked chicken. The "small" meal, btw, was big enough for our lunch and dinner. Along with the chopped up pieces of chicken in a rich brown sauce came a flavorful rice, cooked cabbage and carrots, and a few plantains. We both asked for extra sauce on the rice -- and you should too. Like oxtail, this meal is hands on -- that is you need to pick off the chicken meat from the bone with your mouth and fingers. If you don't mind doing this, you're in for a treat. We both kept oohing and ahh-ing over the flavors. We will definitely return to have this meal again and to try their other options.
