    Jerk Chicken

Dumplin restaurant has authentic Jamaican food. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas. The flavors are reminiscent of Jamaica food you would find in eateries back home. The rice and peas is often a disappointment at some Jamaican restaurants but not here. I can tell they have someone in the kitchen that has been cooking a long time. If my travels take me back to the area I will definitely give Dumplin a another visit.

My husband and I are new to the area. We had a craving for Jamaican food and found this spot on Yelp! The reviews weren't too bad so we gave it a try. The food is well seasoned and they give a good amount of serving. I forgot to take pictures prior to digging in lol

Stopped in on my way back up to Orlando and did not disappoint one bit. The lady that works the counter is very progressional, friendly and welcoming. Ended up sitting in to eat for about 20 minutes and talked with her the entire time. Food was nothing short of excellent, lots of flavor, not to salty and plenty for the money.

Wrapping up some holiday shopping, I stumbled upon the Dumplin Restaurant leaving the Palm Beach Outlets. It's located in a small strip center - parking is tight. My desire was curried goat for lunch. I'm a fan of Caribbean food and the Dumplin Restaurant had some decent online reviews. And an extensive menu. Restaurant was busy - I decided on an order of curried goat with beans and rice, along with steamed cabbage. No goat I was told by the cashier/server. Bummer, I thought, as I really like curried goat. On the suggestion of a waiting customer, I tried the curried chicken. Taking it "to go" as I was driving back to the Treasure Coast, I decided on beans and rice, along with steamed cabbage as my side items. I really wanted the curried goat, but the curried chicken wasn't bad. Not only was the meal flavorful, I was served a container full of food. Cashier/server was friendly and polite - "take out" bag had napkins and flatware. Restaurant was clean and well attended. I would try the Dumplin Restaurant again. But only if I can try the curried goat. William E. Lewis Jr. Vero Beach, Florida.

This is really good, Jamaican Take out. Meals are about $7 with meat rice and beans. They also make a bunch of different rum cakes. The lady who runs it is very nice, welcoming and accommodating. Both times I ate there was in the evening and they had already sold out of the beef patties :( But the good thing about that is that it means they make them fresh daily. The first time I went I had a jerk pork and jerk chicken combo with rice and vegetables. The star of this meal was the jerk pork, it was cut into large cubes and had an incredible tasting rub on it and it sat in a nice gravy. The chicken wasn't as much to my liking because of the bones but otherwise it tasted fine. Rice and vegetables were nothing memorable but they kind of complete the meal. Second visit I had Roti with jerk pork. This time she gave me even more meat and gravy and I quite enjoyed it. I'd go again any time I'm in the area. Very good. You can also sit inside there about 8 tables or so. They have bottled sodas and fruit juices.

The curry isn't too great but the jerk chicken and pork is on point. You also get a LOT of food for the price. I recommend.

There's extra vegetables in the dishes. The macaroni salad was to die for. The herbs were right on. The peas and rice were so tasty. I had to hold back from eating more and filling up. Complementary fried plantains were added to the order. The jerk chicken was incredibly tender and there was spicy sauce on the side, added to the chicken. We had not eaten oxtails before. Go figure! They were so Tender and falling off the bone. The sauce was excellent with added carrots and butter beans. So good. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes they offer. Service: Very friendly and attentive. Most people seem to order and carry out. We chose to eat in and they went out out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Ambience: Again, it's more of a carryout restaurant, but the restaurant itself is very clean and inviting. When I go back, I would like to sit down and eat in the restaurant with its colorful decor and reggae playing on the speakers again. Really enjoyed eating there and watching people go in and out with their takeout orders.

I followed my coworker to this Jamaican restaurant for lunch--and let me start with a disclaimer: if you plan on being productive after eating here, don't. Just take the rest of the day off now. I ordered the $10 fried chicken lunch special with extra gravy, rice and peas, and macaroni salad and washed it down with a pineapple ginger juice. Baby... I was FULL full. The kind of full where your laptop starts looking optional. I was overworked, overfed, and ready to slam my laptop shut and resume life Monday morning. The food was so good and so filling that I didn't even eat dinner that night. I had a cup of tea and went straight to bed--peacefully and without regret. All jokes aside, the food is excellent. Authentic Caribbean cooking, fresh, flavorful, and made with love--the kind that tastes like your Caribbean mother or grandmother cooked it herself. The service was wonderful, and the portions are generous. Whether you order a regular entrée or a lunch special, you will leave satisfied. Check them out--just don't say I didn't warn you. If you eat this for lunch, you are not working the rest of the day.

By next week we'll be approaching our 100th visit. UPDATE: Dropped in today because ai had a serious craving for THEIR curry goat. Decided on the mini because my cravings only require a few spoonfuls to be satisfied. I was shocked at how filling it was. For $6.36 that little box packs a serious amount of food for one person. A small isn't even needed. Also came with a drink! ----------------------------------------------------- Judged by previous reviews, I decided to drop into this place to get my own experience. Firstly, the location is great and conveniently next to Target at the corner of 441 & Okechobee. Clean, well-maintained plaza, and this was also mimicked inside the restaurant. Not much seating for a large crowd, but enough, along with the bar area. The girl at the front was very friendly which was appreciated, while the gentleman there didn't care so much - maybe not one of his best days. Ordered the (s) jerk chicken with goat gravy and it was incredibly good. Very well seasoned and done well on the jerk grill. I couldnt get enough of the little goat gravy on the rice, so I had to return the following day for the curry goat with white rice (l). I LOVED the slaw/cabbage veggie as it had a hint of sweetness to it which reminded me that the much needed plantains were missing - on both day 1 and day 2. Jamaicans do not like to eat without plantains so please honor the menu and always have it. The goat was excellent- buttery, well seasoned and delicious. I couldnt stop eating but had to, because the large was a lot. I was able to sufficiently share with my husband. I also added the rum cake with the promise that it was "great rum cake" -- very far from it. For $4, I could and will continue to live without the rum cake. It was nothing worth mentioning- except here. The price on the remaining items weren't bad, but I was blown away to discover that their mini was $6+, and is the size of the little white styrofoam restaurant desert box. Pro: Impressed that the jerk chicken was so well flavored, not dry, and done on a real grill (take notes other J'can restaurant), Id return every single day for the curry, keep up the polite attitude as customers really don't have to accept any less. Cons: Really defeated by the absence of PLANTAINS on both days, $4 rum cake wasn't worth the price. (These were so critical that they devalued the restaurant, rendering only 4 stars) Closing: This is officially my go-to Jamaican restaurant in WPB!

There was ample free parking right outside their doors. Inside, it is bright and clean. You order at one end of the counter where all the food is displayed. The menu is on the wall. We both chose their "small" brown stew chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I always request a bit of extra gravy on top of the rice. The food is served in take out containers. And they were doing a lot of take out orders while we were there. But we chose to dine in. The chicken was tender. It's a bit messy to eat, but delicious with the brown gravy. The gravy had a slight kick. The rice and peas were able to sop up some of the gravy. The cabbage/veggies were mild. The plantains were sweet. As I said before, the portion was so large --even though it was the small size -- that we each had enough for another meal. Reasonable prices, good food, friendly staff, and large portions -- a winning combination.
