Early bird breakfast is what we have done occasionally. Husband loves their chicken fried streak which seems to be breaded with breadcrumbs versus the traditional coating. I always get the steak and eggs. We bring out little dog to the patio. Wait staff is kind. But we don't dine out often. The last time we came the table 10ft away went on and on about how Covid isn't real and how frequently they go out without a mask so I just stopped dining out as it is my choice. But when we are vaccinated and the world is a little less crazy we will be back. read more

I came here to eat breakfast before the strawberry festival as I was hungry. This place was packed but the guy here managed to have a table for three. It was warm inside with the heater on. I got iced water along with a veggie omelette with a bowl of fruit and a coffee cake. Servings were just right. My veggie omelette was filled with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese and artichokes. This was so delicious! It was filled more with the ingredients than eggs. The fruit was delicious. Filled with strawberries, pineapples, melons, orange, slices of banana, blueberries and raspberries. So sweet and good! The coffee cake was good but crumbly which fell apart as I picked it up. Food was delicious overall. Service was good by our waitress but it was so busy! I think they did a great job serving customers even though it was busy. Located right where the strawberry festival is. A definite major plus since I came hungry. I am a big fan of this place. Huge..so why only four stars? Well, my dear friend and I went on a brutally hot day (they have no a/c, only fans) and the flies were driving us insane. However, if you take that part out...the place is really great. My friend ordered a pretty basic breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. I went a bit crazy because I was hungry...stuffed croissant sandwich (eggs, cheese, bacon, avocado), coffee cake, and their really delicious cinnamon roll that has been mentioned in tons of yelp reviews. Then the server said those magic dreamy words..."mimosas, ladies?" Everything was delicious and filling. Service was quick and friendly. Food was good but 3 stars for the way we were served and treated from beginning to end. While visiting Vista we decided to have breakfast here due to the good food reviews. It seems to me Latinos are not their favorite to served even though our money as just as good as the table next to me with an American family. The server seems frustrated taking our order of 4 people while pleasantly taking the order of the table next to us. Such a horrible feeling to sit here and try to enjoy our breakfast while receiving horrible service. Asking for anything extra came with an eye roll and frustration as if we weren't paying for our food. Took a look around the restaurant and every other table received a very happy and pleasant server except for us. Very unfortunate and unpleasant experience in 2022! read more

Stopped in for Sunday breakfast and this place was busy. There was a wait for outdoor patio seating so we opted to eat inside where it was cooler. I ordered the Peppermint Mocha and the Veggie Omelet with avo. -The PM was a bit on the sweet side and the server asked if I wanted a coffee topper. I obliged to soften the sweetness. -I ordered the veggie omelet soft with Swiss and without the asparagus. It was good, but my avo was forgotten. The server apologized and brought a side of avo. Also came with a side of coffee cake and hash browns. Both were good. Our server was nice and accommodating. Great portions, reasonable prices and lots of variety on the menu. Not the best breakfast I've had, but it's decent. Located in downtown Vista with free street parking and lot avail on the side. Darc and I had a great late breakfast before going to the nearby movie. This is such a cute place. It's located on the old Main Street, lots of curb appeal and quaintness. Apparently this street closes down in the evening, but on Sunday morning it was hopping. Darc had the tofu scramble. Now that may sound really boring but after I tasted it I was sorry I didn't get it! The tofu was browned nicely and had a good texture. The spinach and onions were sauteed in fresh oil with a great flavor. Really good dish. I had the spinach, mushroom, swiss omelet. It was less than fabulous, but there have been so many good reviews about the omelets that I'll give it another try. This one today was dry dry dry. The eggs were overcooked, there was only a little slice of swiss on the top and it was cooked too long so it almost melted away, and the spinach wasn't very tasty. They served me fruit with kiwi in it (just drive me to the hospital, please), and were very gracious about bringing a second bowl untouched by the dreaded kiwi. The coffee was mediocre. So I really like this place but they're going to have to do better with the food to keep this gal interested. read more

Meh, super disappointed about this! We are new to Vista and this place is always packed so we decided to try it! I had the country fried steak - it was bland and tough. My fiancé had the huevos rancheros they were mediocre at best. The service was great and the vibe was your typical bustling diner! I think the worst part was how expensive it was for such low quality diner food. We probably won't be back, there are so many other diners with better food and prices. read more

Been coming to Curbside for breakfast for years, and still love it. The owner is almost always there, and the menu has thankfully changed very little. I'd be heartbroken if they stopped selling my favorite dish, the crab cakes Benedict, which is just about my favorite Benedict on the planet... nothing else compares. Little warning about the tofu scramble though-- it seems much closer to a tofu and veggie stir fry, with inch-long chunks of tofu. read more

However I didn't find anything to write home about. I had the Californian- a chicken avocado sandwich with sweet potato fries. Hubby had a Patty melt with a caesar salad. Kids had half a grilled chicken breast with sweet potato fries. (Literally that was all that was on their plate) My main complaint is that the kids meal selection is pretty lame- either peanut butter and jelly sandwich, breaded and fried chicken pieces, grilled cheese sandwich, all with french fries; or a couple breakfast items. What an awesome local diner. Not only great food, but very friendly service as well. My friend and I started by splitting the cinnamon roll which was huge and definitely enough for two people. It was delicious and had the perfect amount of melting cinnamony, sugary filling. I had the Chorizo Omelet with hashbrowns and coffee cake. The omelet was awesome and I was able to get it with a delicious housemade salsa. The hashbrowns were delicious and definitely a notch up from the average breakfast potato. I couldn't stop eating them. The coffee cake was moist and had a lovely, addicting flavor. My friend had the Stuffed Croissant which was a breakfast sandwich. This looked as amazing as all of the other food and my friend really enjoyed it. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area. I can't imagine you'll get a better breakfast somewhere else! read more

Location: The first thing that you will notice is that this restaurant is nestled in the middle of downtown Vista with sidewalk seating so you can enjoy the perfect weather and the people. Inside the walls are covered with art for purchase which gives it a fun, cool grandma's house vibe. The Food: The food is also what you imagine you would get from the cool grandmas house. Servings are big, hearty and delicious. One of my favorite things to have there is the pancakes. I know it is such a simple dish, but it is a breakfast classic that is amazing when it is right. While I am allergic, many friends of mine who have accompanied me are very fond of the seafood omelet. I can personally confirm the amazingness of the vegetarian omelet, full of tender vegetables cooked in the egg. Perfection! I had posted about our quest to find the best Monte Cristo and Yelpers told me that Curbside had a great Monte Cristo! So I asked my friend if she wanted to try it! It was really cold out and we ended up with a seat inside but, I froze because we were right by the door and they have to run in and out so the doors stay open (totally understandable) We ordered a Monte Cristo with sweet potato fries and eggs benedict with fruit. (I really needed to try it again after the horrible vinegar experience) The server knew we were sharing so she had them split the plates for us which was really sweet of her. The monte cristo was just kinda Meh... Not a lot too it. I'm used to a lot of ham, turkey and cheese. As you can see from the picture it was pretty thin. The Eggs benedict was not good at all. The hollandaise sauce was more mustardy (if that's a word) Not light. I had to scrape it off. (I'll stick to Mama Katz for my eggs benedict) The best thing about our meal was the sweet potato fries. I ended up ordering hot chocolate since I was freezing and it was good. So our quest continues! read more

They've been open all this week and last week for indoor and outdoor dining, regardless of the "tier" we're in. No masks required for customers seated at tables. They accommodate groups (6 people) indoors at tables seated close to other patrons, which is convenient during the rains we had today. Great food and service - and I don't say that just because they're open when other restaurants are obeying health orders and doing take-out only. Purple Tier or no Purple Tier, pandemic or not, their food and service is phenomenal. I'm glad they're in business and plan to keep eating there, even when the pandemic is over and their competition is allowed to legally reopen and serve food indoors. read more

Our whole family loves Curbside Cafe. We have been dining here for years, and everyone has a favorite from the large and original menu. My breakfast fave is the seafood omelet with crab, shrimp, whitefish, asparagus and jack cheese. I also love the swordfish sandwich, with a garlic aioli that will knock yourself socks off. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Make sure to go for the cinnamon bun when you're feeling indulgent. It's tremendous. And the staff is also wonderful. Highest recommendations. read more

So overpriced. I took my husband here for his birthday breakfast with our son. The kids menu is such a scam. The Belgian "waffle with sausage" is 8.50 for HALF of a waffle. No powdered sugar or fruit or anything special. I told our waitress I was shocked and that they should specify if was half of a waffle, and the sausage "patty" was the size of a quarter. She said, "oh, ok" and didnt offer any apology or solution. The regular menu was also extremely overpriced. I really regret coming here as the food was also extremely mediocre maybe even sub par. We chose this place over the many other local brunch places due to the great reviews. We will not be returning and if you want to spend 70$ for breakfast on two adults and a kid, go somewhere nice that isn't a tiny little shop where they said it was a 10 min wait and we waited 40 mins read more

FOOD: I got the Crab Cake Benedict and my dad got the Cinnamon Roll. I thought they were both amazing and perfect for two people. The crab cake in the eggs benedict really stood out. It was unlike your typical eggs benedict with bacon. I have never eaten more than half of a plate of eggs benedict and I almost finished the whole plate today. And the cinnamon roll. WOW. It was huge. It was the size of my head. My dad thought it was perfect to satisfy his cravings after his hike. It was sweet but not too sweet and the nuts in it gave it a nice little crunch. I would consider this place pretty on par with Mama Kat's except slightly cheaper and you don't have to wait over an hour to get seated. WAIT: The restaurant was super crowded, but they seemed to get everyone seated quickly. They have both inside and outside seating. My dad and I were okay with both so we got seated within 5 minutes. SERVICE: The service was pretty average. They did refill our waters very quickly, but other than that it was like any other place. They also have coats you can borrow if you're cold and seated outside. I didn't take them up on the offer, but I thought it was interesting since I've never seen another restaurant do that. They also had a waitress that was talking to another waitress and she kept saying "chino" in Spanish and looked at us, but I didn't really think much of it. It was also just a little awkward. PARKING: There were two parking lots, but I didn't see the entrance. That wasn't a problem though because I luckily found parking right in front of the restaurant. We were the Corned beef couple this morning. I knew I wanted a solid egg breakfast and didn't really care to have bacon (crazy, I know) or sausage. When I saw that this was labeled "fresh" corned beef, I couldn't resist to order this. I'm on a mission to try all homemade corned beef! We sat outside on this San Diego, day after it rains, humid day. We got our drink orders quickly and our food quickly. My bf ordered the Reuben (with corned beef of course) and the waitress said that's the reason she works there and she'll buy it for him if he doesn't like it. Haha! He loved it. I took a bite and I would order it for myself too. I had the corned beef hash and it was interesting looking. It looked like ground corned beef with finely chopped carrots and shredded potatoes. To be honest, it got me nervous because it didn't look familiar to me. I ordered my eggs over easy and together, it was delicious. The egg was cooked perfectly and the corned beef was pretty good. The carrots didn't give it an "extra kick," but it's nice to know I'm getting another vegetable into my diet. Next time, scrambled eggs would be nice. We will be back and I really want to try their coffee cake and coffee specialty drinks. read more

My wife and I have lived in Vista for almost 3 years, but I've been local to the area for about 15 years. We love downtown Vista and generally come to Curbside about 3 times a month. The staff is always friendly and treat us like family when we are there. In the dozens of times we've eaten there we've only dealt with an extended wait one time, and it was a day I'm assuming someone had called in sick.
