I made an appointment to get red color added. I was told they needed to do a "color correction" in other words they bleach part of my hair which not only did they leave the bleach for more than an hour but put me under a heat dryer! The damage to my hair was terrible. As the stylist was washing off the red dye and about to give me a haircut the Owner told the stylist to add an extra 4 oz. I wasn't sure what she meant at the time as the stylist looked surprised. The girl try her hardest to camouflaged the damage she had done to my hair with over 5 products she didn't even fully dried my hair. I came in with healthy shiny hair and left with over processed hair! I couldn't even put my fingers through it! To top it off I was charged $245 for ruining my hair! I KNOW it's not the stylist fault as the OWNER knows that she's only been doing hair for a year she should've had her put a timer on & checked to make sure she was doing everything properly. Instead she decided to have her charge me an extra 4 oz of hair dye THAT WERE NEVER USED ON MY HAIR a total of $57 and change more! I couldn't believe it! The receptionist is not very friendly neither were most of the employees there. The place is so clustered that if there was another client on the next station you literally had to walk all around to get back into your seat! I responded to the email they said asking how my experience was and all the owner did was NOT OWN UP TO WHAT HAPPENED!!! I had to stop at Ulta to get me some hair bonding the moment the stylist saw she was like let's get you this to do as soon as you get home. Then I went in the next day to have a hair mask and another treatment to salvage some of my hair. I've spent $189 so far just to try and fix as much of the damage as possible. I'll have to go next weekend to a hair salon to have them cut as much of the damaged hair as possible and do another treatment!!! Too bad I didn't tell my coworkers where I had made my hair appointment because they would've stopped me from going. Three of my coworkers said they had the worst experience & how excessive & ridiculously over priced! All they did was bleached my hair & use one hair dye through my entire hair. I was sent home with red dye all around my face, neck and ears. I literally had to buy a product to have it all removed. I contacted the Cosmetology Licensing Department. I was told to request a refund & that they were going to look into that Salon as other people have already called & made complaints! For being in Sparta their fees are ridiculous! I've check prices today on salons in Onalaska & even in Madison & none of them quoted me as high!!! I'm surprised she's still has customers as I saw a couple of ladies leave very dissatisfied with their results. AS MY COWORKERS SAID IF ANYONE EVER ASKS THEM ABOUT THIS PLACE - THEIR RESPONSE IS NOOOOO DO NOT GO THERE IT'LL BE THE BIGGEST & COSTLIEST MISTAKE EVER!!! All in all when the OWNER is telling the stylist to charge more than the amount of product she used.... Just goes to show you that either she KNOWS the client won't be back or SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT the clientele at all. read more

Had great first impression with staff until it came down to treating my hair. Specifically asked for dark brown highlights enough to blend with my black hair due to work regulation. She did not use the correct color (came out blonde) & didn't highlight evenly with my middle part. Will be going to another salon to correct this. read more

o be honest I hate leaving a bad review because the other professionals in the salon have been great. I have had numerous different services, keratin Brazilian blow out, facials, waxing etc. However I wanted to do something different in my hair without damaging my natural hair. I wanted to have some white hair extensions. The contrast and everything seem good. But because of my work I am in the army I have to have my hair in a bun most of the time. When I got the extensions I had to go back and have them reposition because the bond showed when I did a pony tail or had my hair un a bun. When I got to my appointment the hairstylist was going to replaced them (Serena) where it wouldn't show but as she was removing them I saw that there was a lot of hair coming with the extension, it was also very painful when she pulled them. I was aware that this might happen do to repositioning them soon but it was my first time and by the time she was halfway done I asked if she could remove all of them. I just didn't feel comfortable having them back on and loosing so much hair again. When I told her this she gave me attitude and was very disrespectful, and she started pulling them even harder taking off chunks of the hair with her. And I told her it was very uncomfortable and she said well you want me to leave them on then. I just felt like it was ver un profesional of her to come like that and do so much damage to my hot and scalp. As I had never done this service and she was aware of it since the beginning. I cancel all my future appointments with her, but is unfortunate because all the other stuff has been so welcoming and very nice. read more

My mother took me to Cura for a gel manicure and a relaxation pedicure as an early Christmas gift. I was impressed by the salon itself, everything was so new with an open layout. It smelled nice and everything was squeaky clean. Cheyanne did both my pedicure and manicure. The pedicure was SO WONDERFUL! My mom and I were offered a variety of drinks and even sweets - it was just before Christmas but it was a great surprise, and the oreo cookie ball was to die for :) The chairs are fantastic and comfortable with many different massage settings. My legs, feet, and toes were so happy after the spa treatment and my nails looked amazing - it's been almost 4 weeks and they still look fantastic. The polish hasn't even chipped! (it was not gel polish). The gel manicure was not the typical soak-your-hands-in-water kind of manicure. Cheyanne was very meticulous and careful with cleaning up the nail area, including trimming cuticles. I chose a bright purple polish and inquired about sparkles. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE my glitter! I was informed that she could add a layer of loose glitter to the nails. YES! My nails turned out gorgeous and each nail had a glitter gradient from nail bed to the tip. The gel polish lasted a good three weeks before it began to slightly chip. I highly recommend this salon if you are in the area. They provided me with a very relaxing, and personalized experience in a welcoming environment. I hope to return again! read more

don't let the older lady near your brows. she'll tell you you have great brows and then wax half of them off after you asked to just get them cleaned up and leave you looking like you just stepped out of 1990, perhaps the last time she went to an education class for waxing. very unfortunate that I had positive experiences here and now I will NEVER return. now I have to try to fill them in with makeup every day until they grow back in. absolutely horrible I'm devastated. read more

I am going back to have my hair done again because I don't like the cut after living with it for a month but that is on me. I am giving Cura Salon a 5 star review based on my experience with haircuts. I have not received any other service there. Coming from a military background, I tend to live in or near big cities (so there's more variety/options). I came from Hawaii before coming to Sparta, WI and it was a shock that the population here is approx. 10,000. I have had awesome stylists in the past at all my other duty stations. I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to find anything here in town and I might have to travel to La Crosse to find a decent salon. I happened to stumble across Cura Salon via a Google search I believe which directed me to their FB page. I was so excited when I saw the pictures of the salon because it was up-to-date/modern. To me, that in itself tells you something. That the owner is keeping up with the times, has good taste, knows what's in style, makes the establishment feel welcoming and relaxing, and in turn you feel more comfortable. The set-up is very nice...they took a home and turned it into a salon which is very smart! I didn't know any of the stylists at the salon, so I left it up to the receptionist to assign me someone...whom she set me up with Brenda. I really lucked out because she is awesome! Great personality, fun, bubbly, nice, and to top it off....she can cut some hair! She knows what she's doing and she's great at it. So my overall experience due to quality of service and the ambiance of the salon, it is beyond great and I highly recommend Cura Salon to anyone! read more

My last hair cut was over a year ago when a hairdresser in Lacrosse butchered my hair. After growing it out for a year I made an appointment with Mary at Cura Salon. The salon is beautiful inside and the staff was very polite. Mary took a quick look at my hair and immediately knew what the other hair dresser did wrong and then she fixed it!!! All they use are Redkin products. Nothing else. I'm not a big Redkin fan. I like how their sinks are set up. The stylist stands behind you instead of over you. Much better not to have to look at your stylists armpit! Overall it's good but spendy for such a small community. read more

Cura salon did my wedding hair and makeup as well as my bridal party's hair. They were fantastic! The stylists are friendly and knowledgeable and did a beautiful job. The bridal group ahead of us had shown up late, but Cura was still able to get to our group on time and get us out in time without sacrificing quality. They had complimentary snacks and beverages, and also encouraged us to bring in anything we wanted. I cannot speak highly enough for this hidden gem. By far the worst customer service ever :( here's my story.. I'm going to be getting married at Justin Trails on Sunday, August 3rd. I had called around numerous places and all were closed on Sunday. My last call was Cura Salon, the receptionist was very friendly and said I'll have to get back to you on that. I said ok and asked her what they charge for a wedding up do she said no more then 65 dollars, so I'm like perfect!! My 14 month old was screaming in the background so she asked when would be a good time to call, tomorrow? I said around 4, my fiancé will be home so I can have him watch our son while I talk about arranging a time. The next day I never even got a call :( I'm a bit stressed because I have 3 weeks until my wedding. I called Cura the next day and I can't remember the lady's name, but she didn't have very good customer service, she told me my hair was $48 and to add my clip on extensions was going to be another $20 then.... she adds a $10 charge that I was never told about to my bill in which I also was asked to pre- pay!!! They don't have a receptionist on Sundays so they needed to have it paid before then. I refused to pay the $10 I was never told anything about!! To add to it the owner was even unwilling to negate the $10 fee. We were told it was for a favor. Since when do you charge for a favor? I, like a lot of other brides, am paying for our my wedding and have a set budget!!! Needless to say I found somebody else if you all want her information message me if you're having a Sunday wedding!! Please please please don't deal with that stuff on your day. :( read more

Was out of town and needed a haircut. Made an appointment with Mariah M. The salon was beautiful. Most people looked professional, except Mariah (that's my luck). She did a terrible job, luckily the salon manager was able to fix my "Brady Bunch" chopped up haircut. Ended up with a very very short haircut that I did not want but the manager did a fantastic job of fixing the mess Mariah created. Normally I'm not picky about my hair but it was terrible. I was at the salon for 2 hours (appointment was supposed to be 45 minutes... Just a haircut). After it was fixed it was not offered a discount or anything. I also had to buy some hair putty because I hadn't planned on leaving with a pixie cut. Mariah continued to try to get me to book another appointment afterwards... I really wanted to scream that she was insane if she thought I was EVER stepping foot in that salon as long as she was still employed there. I've been to budget hair salons before and have had better hair cuts (by far) than what Mariah gave me. While using the curling brush and blow dryer she literally burnt my scalp multiple times. I'm just glad she stopped cutting before there was no hope for the manager to fix it. It's extremely short but does not look terrible now. I was the maid of honor for a wedding party that had their hair done here in July 2012. Our bride had made all the arrangements and I guess they make you write down the names for all the bridal party members that are getting their hair down. Our party had the bride, 5 bridesmaids, a junior bridesmaid, 2 moms, and 2 flower girls. At the last minute, one of the bridesmaids and one of the flower girls (mom and daughter) did not come because of some issues with the flower girl and her brother (we are talking little kids here, they don'talways cooperate!). Bride's brother's girlfriend came and had her hair down instead because then it would take one of the places. They were more than agreeable to do that when asked. When it came time to pay, they decided to still charge the bride for the 2 that did not show up. Even though she arranged to have another person come take the place and it was perfectly okay for them to do the hair of that girlfriend, they would not substitute her in place of the bridesmaid that didn't show up. In addition to the assumed 'cost' that it would have been to do the bm and fg that didn't come, the bride was charged a "no show" fee of $10 per person. And you know what happens when a salon does that to a bride on her wedding day? She cries when told she has to pay over $100 for services not rendered. THEY MADE THE BRIDE CRY ON HER WEDDING DAY AND NOT FOR A GOOD REASON. A couple hours later (about 15 minutes before the bride was walking down the aisle), bride's cell phone rings. It's the salon. One of the cards for someone hadn't gone through, so they just put it on her card. She got upset, but I had them put it on my card so the bride would stay calm for her big day. And what happened? A few weeks later, when my credit card statement came and the other bridesmaid (the one that the card supposedly didn't go through for) had hers come... we both got charged! My card had 2 charges from Cura, made at 11:08 a.m. and another at 1:47 pm. For real? Thank goodness for credit card disputes! Shame on you Cura Salon!!! I wish that we all would have known of your 'policies' beforehand. Maybe this place is okay for going to get a massage or your hair done, but I would not recommend it to a bride! read more
