**honest review** I've never written a review before but I felt that I really needed to leave a review for this place. I'm new to the area and was referred to this salon, so I called and made an appointment. My first appointment started amazing, everyone was super friendly and the salon is huge! My first appointment was made with Libby, who was super cool and very nice. We talked about what I wanted and knew that I'd have to make a few trips to the salon to achieve my hair goals. My stylist had been a barber for a few years so she was relearning technique and color. My color turned out amazing but the balayage technique...not so much. Which I understand, as she was learning. The next day at home I noticed that my roots and my color where very choppy and didn't blend well at all, so I called the salon. I'm going on a vacation so I really needed it touched up right away. They were very accommodating and made another appointment for me. My second stylist was Angie, who did an amazing job breaking up my roots and making my color blend a lot better. In all I would definitely recommend this place! I wouldn't say that I had a bad hair experience, just a little root touch up. They were very friendly and accommodating to my needs. And definitely went above and beyond to help me out! read more

This was the kind of hair cut that makes you cry your way home...and some of the next couple days. Negative stars if I could. I decided to try out this place after feeling like I didn't vibe with the hair dresser that took me on at another salon. She was really nice, just didn't really click. No big deal. Felt too weird to break up with her and stay at that salon so I decided to go here. I've always seen it and thought it looked cool. Atmosphere was cool inside but it was completely dead. 5 o'clock and no one to be seen except the receptionist. First sense of "is this place somewhere I trust when it looks like no one else does..?" My stylists comes out and takes me to his chair and asks what I want. I tell him that my hair grows REALLY SLOW so please JUST THE DEAD ENDS. he showed me about an inch and a half, which really surprised me considering I get my hair cut every 10 weeks to avoid taking much off at a time. I said I trusted his opinion if he thought that much needed to go since this appointment was maybe 14 weeks instead of 10. I also said I wanted some shaping to the back, maybe a U or a V so it didn't fall so blunt and straight across BUT NOT TOO MUCH AND NO LAYERS because I wear braids a lot and I don't want them to poke out all over. (We talked about this at length. The point was definitely across.) He said he'd give me a trim (TRIM) and shape the bottom. Okay great, just what I asked for. Then he lets me know that this will be a rough dry cut, he'll wash my hair and touch it up. Made sense to me, that's what my other hair dressers have done. BUT THEN!!! He just starts chopping! He's completely eye balling it. Not pulling my hair down between his fingers and cutting where he showed me like any other stylist would, he literally just eye balled it, used ONE HAND and chopped. I could have cried right there in that chair. I wish I had the balls to stand up and leave then but I thought maybe he'd somehow fix it after he washed my hair. Nope. After that he cuts it a bit shorter, and what do you know, does a LOT of shaping that basically turns into layers and "touches up" my face frames enough that they hardly stay in a pony tail anymore. Again, I wish I had the balls to stand up for myself and instead of saying "yeah....its cute..." when he asked how it was, tell him that it was actually the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what I asked for. He cut off 5, FIVE inches that were absolutely NOT DEAD ENDS, AND gave me the layers I said I DIDN'T want. Then I got to the front desk and had to pay, after tip, $120 just for my hair dresser to not listen to a word I say and do whatever he wanted. The last time my hair was this short was almost 3 years ago. My hair is my favorite physical feature of myself and he botched it. Left feeling really sad and disrespected. Still feel that way. Trying to get over it because I know it's just hair and it'll grow back, it's not the end of the world. But I was so proud of how long I had gotten it. I put a lot of work in. Just for someone to not listen to a word I say and cut all my hard work off. Needless to say I will not be going back and definitely not telling other people to. read more

I was in La Crosse just for the day. Initially wanted to get a mani pedi but they didn't have any openings. I mentioned to the lady at the front that I was killing time. She let me know that she had a massage available. I quickly agreed and I was so glad that I did. Roxanne was absolutely amazing. I had a lot of tension in my shoulders and neck and she did her best to work it out. I would definitely come back to see them again if I was ever in the area again. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. read more

These people are extremely rude and RACIST. I am a Puerto Rican female in her young 20's that came here on a business trip from Atlanta and was treated extremely poorly as if I was in a 1930's segregated town. I walked up to the receptionist earlier in the day and asked if there were any openings for a mani-pedi. She said they were pretty busy and did not have anything but a 5:30 opening. I was fine with the time and said I would come back later. When I came back at 5:30 ready to get my nails done, she said that unfortunately that spot was filled and that this was the last appointment for the day. She said this in a very rude and dismissive way as if I was not welcomed there. Why would they book an appointment at a certain time just to make me waste my time knowing that they would not service me here... If that's the case! There should be a sign placed on the door saying who is and isn't welcomed in this "awesome" salon. I suggest you educate yourselves a bit better and get with the times before putting your own business on the line for something as ridiculous and ignorant as this. Be mindful of who you turn away because we live in the 21st century and the internet is a very powerful marketing tool that can either make your business or break it. read more

This is the best full service salon/spa around! The experience you get there is so relaxing and you can tell that everyone there is very experienced at what they do. I recently had a massage and a facial there, and both service providers made sure I had the best spa day ever. I will definitely be coming back to Orange Pearl as my go-to salon! read more

What a fabulous team! We just had a bridal party of 7 plus the moms get their hair styled for the big day and they took such great care of us. The types of styles we wanted varied a lot as did our hair length, texture etc... Each stylist was very accommodating and skillful. Everyone was so happy with their styles and everything held wonderfully through the day/night, even on a damp day! Thank you Orange Pearl!! read more

Top three rules to keep me as a customer: 1) be upfront about extra charges (I had $20 added on to my service, without having it explained prior to being charged) 2) provide an excellent service (my polish is sloppy, uneven and all over my nail beds) 3) be respectful of my time (a manicure took over an hour...what?!) All three broken at OP. Chances are LOW that I'll be back. read more

As good a cut as I've paid much more for. I was in town visiting and stopped in because it was convenient. They were quite helpful with the appointment times, and the price they quoted me was accurate and didn't get hyperinflated as I checked out (as I've had happen). I described a couple basic things I wanted and let my stylist (Shay) have her way with my head. I love what she did, she showed me what I need to upkeep it and even gave me a couple 'you could also do this . . . ' sort of tips. Loving the cut, would go back! (They sometimes take walk-ins, but the schedule is pretty booked in advance. It was full when I stopped in for an appointment and for my cut.) read more

Robbed! I went in for a simple buzz with the trimmers, and a couple of stragglers cleaned up from the beard. It literally took 15 minutes. I was charged $50 and she didn't even pick up a straight razor to clean everything up. Didn't even get a scalp massage, or shoulder massage. For $50, all of those things should be included. Rip-off! read more

I went in for a haircut with Kristi and was very pleased. Very nice woman, great scalp massage, and gave me exactly what I asked for. I asked for some subtly layers for my bob cut and it's better than I expected. I rarely write reviews but I woke up the day after and I'm like so in love with my hair I was like I need to give her some credit so I highly recommend her. read more

I came in for a Brazilian wax. Now I have had quite a number of waxes bouncing between bikini and Brazilian and I have never cried during an appointment. The wax used here is not the best quality and is quite harsh on the skin. Not only did this affect it but also the girl seemed inexperienced and kept going over the same areas repeatedly where she had missed some hair. This went on till almost the end, when she went over an area too many times and ripped off skin and I started bleeding. I requested we stop, and agreed I would just pay the full amount for the service even after she said regardless it would still be full price even if I didn't finish the wax. It was so poorly done, and even after she tried to get me to book ANOTHER appointment to "thin" the hair out better so I wouldn't be so "sensitive". Never Again! read more

Anna is THE. BEST. I haven't had a regular go-to stylist in a couple years, and I had a cut and color with her yesterday because I was along overdue, and she was available when I was... I feel like I gave kind of a crappy description of what I wanted, and she ran with it, and it is PERFECT! The shampoo includes a scalp massage, and oh my goodness, I almost took a nap right there. Anna really listened to what I wanted and needed from my hair and my hair products, and she recommended accordingly, but I never felt like she was selling. I will definitely be scheduling with her again! read more

I went here for a haircut from Rose and I honestly don't think I'd go back. The salon and the process was great, it was relaxing up until I saw how much hair she had taken off. I asked for around chest-length, and I would've been ok with a little variance (a little longer or a little shorter) but I ended up with collarbone length, a difference of around 4 inches. I knew I shouldve either just cut my own hair (since it isn't cut even) or waited to go back to my normal person in the twin cities and I definitely won't be making that mistake again. read more

Once again I came in with horrid hair and Maura fixed it at a reasonable with great customer service. She always has me looking like a million bucks and the other stylists are equally capable. read more

On the corner of 3rd & Pearl in the heart of downtown La Crosse, the ladies of the Orange Pearl really know how to rock a hair-style. In addition to hair services they offer nail services, waxing, & make-up. I've never walked out with a bad haircut or color since I started going there -- they all seem to keep very up to date on the latest hair trends & fashions. They have also started carrying more boutique type items like handbags and jewelry. Usually they have a good special each month on products or services--check out the window for their monthly deals. My only complaint would be that they mostly carry only the TIGI brand products (S Factor, Bedhead, Rockaholic, Catwalk), of which I am not a fan. They also carry Moroccan Oil products, which I've yet to try. So other than wishing there was more variety in the product lines they carry, I'm more than pleased. Check them out here: www.orangepearlsaloninc.com or on facebook read more

Their hours say open til 9 so I showed up around 8:30 and it was closed, wasn't able to make it anywhere else in time. Please change your hours if you're gonna close early. read more

I came there for a mani/pedi while I was in town visiting. Everything went ok, and we all had a great time, but I could tell that the girl was inexperienced. Well, one other in my party had to get her jell taken off as it was pealing in less than 24 hours. I should have gone back as mine pealed also. Not from top to bottom but side to side. This was by the second day. I do feel that the girls should know what they are doing and not experiment on paying customers. Very disappointed. read more

YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!! I had the awesome opportunity to have my hair cut by Tim! I am very impressed with him and the "disaster" I came in with. He did wonderful job with my hair. After the cut, he also washed my hair and the head massage was AMAZING! What I was really impressed with was that they rebook their clients! Yes, I will be going back! read more

I took my 14-year-old granddaughter there for pedicures. We had a really great time! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They made us feel very welcome and put us right at ease. My polish is holding up really well and I am very pleased with the outcome. read more

I had a great experience at Orange pearl! I was in La Crosse for a conference and needed a trim. They got me in for an evening appointment and Choya gave me a wonderful haircut!! Would totally go back if I'm ever in La Crosse again! Reasonable price and very nice and friendly salon!! read more

Fantastic service, very friendly and laid-back... The ladies made sure I was getting what I wanted with my hair treatment and that I left with knowing how to take care of it. It was a wonderful experience and I'd recommend Orange Pearl to anyone! read more

Worst hair cut I've ever received. Asked for fringe bangs my stylist messed them up so she just kept cutting. I'm now left with bangs that are way to short and are very uneven. Won't be back again. read more

Both myself and my friends have had undesirable coloring services with orange pearl. In my personal experience, the price I was charged was $60 over the quote I was given. After my coloring service, my $200 coloring was literally unnoticeable, so I called them and they were very reasonable and asked me to come in to have the service corrected, "free of charge." After the color correction, I was charged an additional $75 for the service, even though they had said it would be complementary (because they charged me for a toner and a blowout, even though they were correcting their original mistake). To be clear, I was unaware of the charges prior to the service. I was very respectful through out the whole process, but the entire situation rubbed me the wrong way. Many of my friends have had very similar experiences. My advice is to ask for a clear quote prior to your appointment. I will not return to orange pearl myself. read more

I was quite disappointed on my last visit and will not come back. I had to wait approximately a total of 45 mins to get my haircut, I did have an appointment. I was taken back to get my hair washed at the 30 min mark but was only disappointed to find out that I was left alone at the stylist's chair with wet hair for another 10 mins or so (I should have just left at this point). What made me more angry was that no staff apologized or offered me any discounts for this inconvenience (An apology was all I needed) and waste of my time. I wanted to walk out, but I am not one to cause a scene. No more will I be spending my hard earn cash in this establishment. read more

I would not recommend this salon. I went in for a balayage which turned out ok. But I ended up spending 5 hours there. Everyone was so rude and talked down to me like I was a child. Chantel, was the worst, she was so incredibly rude, My 160$ service ended up being 260$! read more

The set up and style of the salon was very cute. It is decorated well and kept very clean. The staff was very friendly. However, my actual service was not at all worth the money. I received a manicure/pedicure. My nail tech was very sweet and talked to me a lot but she left a lot to be desired. First of all, the appointment took over two hours. I was there 20 minutes past closing because of how long it took. I have never had a mani/pedi take longer than an hour and thirty or so minutes. Second of all, my manicure was just plain not good. My nails are not even and are cracked. She was a bit too harsh when she pushed back my cuticles and I ended up bleeding. Overall, she seemed to not know what she was doing. She said "Oh wait!" a lot like she was forgetting to do things. Not a good experience. The salon seems to have a loyal client base, maybe their hair services are better. But even so, I probably will not return. read more

I recently received a haircut here from Sierra and I absolutely adore it! She was so friendly and professional and I love how she really listened to me. The other ladies working there were also really encouraging, especially since I was going from really long hair to a pixie cut! The only thing I didn't like is that I bought a hair care product from them and later when I went to the store I saw that they charged me almost 3 times the regular price (they charged me $22 when the product is actually about $7.50). I understand that you need to make a profit and that stylists probably make commission (I expect I'll be paying more in a salon), but that is excessive. I feel a bit cheated by that. I was also told that I would receive $10 off for being referred, but that didn't happen either. I will definitely see Sierra for a cut again, but I won't be buying any more products. read more

I was so disappointed with the gel manicure I received recently. The people were very nice in the salon, but the manicure was terrible. It took two hours for the service and I left with bubbly polish and my nails are already peeling 3 days later. I paid double what I normally pay to get my nails done and there was nothing spectacular about the service. I wish I could write a better review. read more

I would never recommend this place to anyone!! worst service I have ever received. Came in to get my hair toned, the lady turn my hair dark blonde! I was a platinum blonde, went back in for a "correction" the clare girl they put me with was the RUDEST lady I ever met. She told me if I wanted to be light again, I had to pay. at this point after going back and forth I walked out. I called the salon maybe 6 times to talk to a manager, took about 2 weeks for someone to finally get back to me. After talking to a manager they agreed to refund me...2 weeks later no refund. called again, someone gave me a petty excuse, said they'd call me back later that day..never got a call. Now I call again, the lady told me they refunded me yesterday...$25 on a $85 charge. After getting more and more excuses, i gave up! i've never had to deal with such a terrible business in my life!!!! Save yourself the trouble, and money go somewhere else! read more

Nice looking salon and friendly staff, but prices are steep for what you get (up charge for slightly longer hair) Also, despite my specific request, left dark stains of hair dye all around my hairline and neck. It would not come out for almost a week! Embarrassing to try and hide. I expect more for paying almost $100. read more
