I went into Sue Kolve's with my grandma to celebrate her 80th birthday. She's never had a pedicure before, and has had a rough year, so I thought she'd enjoy a little pampering and relaxation. We had the spa pedicure, which is pricier than the $20 pedicures I usually get at nail salons in strip malls, but it was worth it. Warm foot bath, massage chairs, lots of lovely leg massaging and exfoliates, plus paraffin wax. We went all out, and the ladies at Sue Kolve's took great care of us. They were especially sweet to my grandma, which of course, is the real way into my heart. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I've had at a salon, I asked for my roots and anything brown to just be touched up to match the rest of my hair and that I wanted the tone of the picture I added below. Halfway through her putting foils in I noticed she was also going over my already blonde and slightly damaged hair (right then and there I should've asked her to rinse me and left). Then she finished foiling my hair an hour and a half into the appt. and stuck me under the dryer (and then I'm pretty sure she forgot about me). I could go on but now my ends are in healthier shape than the mid section of my hair and that should never be the case, I just want to cry. read more

I went here as a birthday present to get my hair bleached white. I've ALWAYS wanted to try it, just once at least. I know its not a simple task but I was always told they could do it for x-amount of dollars. I came here FOUR TIMES because they kept saying theyd make it right, and not a single time was my hair white. One of those times, the stylist had the audacity to say "aren't you glad it isn't actually white?" As if I didnt specifically ask for it???? If im paying hundreds of dollars for a service, I expect to get the results they claim are possible. I get better results doing this myself at home. Never, ever, EVER, going here again. Absolute shame, because the salon itself was nice. Complete waste of my time. read more

Had a facial and facial mask treatment with Tami at Sue Kolve's Salon and Day Spa. It was the so relaxing and my skin felt fantastic when finished. Tami went above and beyond by helping fix my hair after the treatments. I highly recommend Tami, it will be well worth your time. I recommend that you call the salon and ask for Tami. Had a really "off" experience here, and it's a shame because the salon itself is beautiful. The treatment I had was the Seaweed Soak (tons of seaweed in a hot-hot tub) that I received as a gift--it's difficult to leave a not-great rating on a service I received for free, but thought it would be wise to be honest. * Pros: the bath was prepared when I arrived * A customer cancelled a seaweed facial so I had extra product for my face, and, * They set out water for me (which ended up being critical halfway into the bath time) When I arrived, I asked to add-on a brow waxing service and was told that it would be no problem. They ushered me back to the private room, and the service tech said "Okay, it smells like miso soup, here are some strips for your face, and you have the room to yourself for the whole hour. No jets because of the seaweed." Made sense. Got it. I proceeded to step into a super-hot bath. I'm no wuss, but it was so hot it made me quite woozy/ill. I had to get out fairly quickly, and spent the rest of the time trying to cool down, and not throw-up from how sick the submerged heat made me. Post-service, when I asked to have my brows done, the front-desk went to find the esthetician, came back, and said, "She disappeared," hesitated, and I asked "So no brows then?" Her response was: "No, I guess not. Is that okay?" This was a bit gobsmacking to me, so I just decided to tip on my service due to the amount of cleanup that bathtub required I'm sure, and leave as I still was a bit queasy even after 25-minutes of cool-down. I won't be going back--Orange Pearl and La Bella downtown have me covered. Sans-seaweed if course, but I'll survive. Would recommend adding requested services at the beginning of an appointment so individuals don't forget or "disappear" before a visit is completed. read more

So Mandy had me come in for a consult, we set up a plan, I came back in and she colored my hair to perfection!!! I am now, not uncomfortable to be out in public!!!! I went here to get my make up done for prom since it was known to be the best salon for formal hair and make up, despite the prices. I showed the artist my dress and explained the theme, trying to best explain what I wanted. She was very nice and seemed to know what she was doing. However, when she was done, my eye make up was much darker than I had wanted when I specifically asked for more neutral colors. There was black wings coming up from eyes.. In addition, it was raining outside so when I left, a rain drop hit my face and smeared my left eye. I wouldn't have been so upset about this except for the fact that it was $65 to get it done. My friends' make up and hair looked good though, so it could have been the artist. Needless to say, I won't be paying $65 again any time soon. read more

I went to Kolve's because they are supposed to have a good reputation for stylists and aesthetic services. When I called, I asked for an experienced stylist, but when I arrived they put me with someone who had only done hair for one year. Although she was friendly, she clearly didn't know what she was doing related to hair. During my appointment, I mentioned I should have scheduled an eyebrow wax. She said "oh, I can do that for you.". When I questioned whether she was an experienced person to do this service, she told me she was. She did the eyebrow wax and I walked out, only to look in my car mirror and see she had ripped off 1/4 inch of one of my eyebrows! My eyebrows did not match at all and the one was obviously done incorrectly. Obviously, the girl knew very well she had done the wrong thing, but she never said one word! She let me walk out, after tipping her, only to find how awful it looked after the fact. When I called back to complain, they said "oh, don't worry, it will grow back." Are you kidding me? Well, it has never grown back, so now I contend with this problem every single day. Do not go to Kolves if you want to trust they won't rip your eyebrow off! Kolve's NEVER refunded my money or offered to make it right. read more

Will NEVER go back! I have been a customer here for about a year, give or take. I usually color my hair a lighter blond, originally dirty blond, fine and thinner hair I have. I ALWAYS have to go back a second time to have brass, or yellow hues fixed, and as always they want me to fix it MYSELF with an anti brass shampoo...?? Then why didn't I just do my own hair at home, and save $100?... A week and a half ago, I came to the salon looking for a "less maintainced" blond look. I showed the stylist a few pics off of pinterest to see what she might have thought would work the best; my hair looked like hardly anything was done to it, and had a silver-green tint to it. When I went back to have it fixed (same stylist), she completely distorted the look I was going for and gave me ugly, uneven brown and bright blond stripes, and chunks all over my head!! She could see the distaste in my eyes when she asked what I thought, and proceeded to give me every excuse under the sun both the first and second time, of shut hair looked the way it did.....I schedule a THIRD appt with an experienced stylist. She is good at her job, got rid of the stripes, used a ton of conditioner since my hair is pretty fried by this point, BUT she still didn't give me what I asked for! She did what she thought was best, and I told her what I wanted...NOT the same thing, though I appreciated her view. After this, I wanted my money back. I was done, and wanted to go somewhere else after THREE TIMES. Oh, and did I mention that I live 30 miles away from the salon? And had to pay for my babysitters gas, who lives 40 miles away from me... The manager wanted to speak with Sue Kolve herself in the matter. Either the manager, or sue herself would contact me. Sue did call, but couldn't care less of my situation, wouldn't give me my money back, AND WANTED ME TO COME BACK. Did I also mention that I was having my hair done in the first place for a very special occasion that I was traveling across the country for? She didn't care at all about my situation, the fact that I did not want another one of her stylists to touch my hair, all the money, time, and effort I put into LETTING them fix it, and fix it, AND FIX IT. She laughed at me, told me I was being unreasonable, and that I wasn't working with them... I was in full out, sobbing, TEARS because I don't have the extra money for the expense of what this all costed in the end, or the extra time and money for a babysitter... Sue went back to her manager and told them that I wasn't willing to work with them... I AM BEYOND PISSED, AND DISGUSTED, AND OUT OF $300. Now tell me again how I didn't work with them?? read more
