good people, great people. I have been looking for a great and good body shop for my car to be fixed up. Not pampered, but just fixed into working condition. This place not only fixed up the car, but told me about all the changes that should and need to be done, and WHEN they should be done, but nothing extra ever showed up. Some of the smaller things were also just waived off, too generous. The owner, Steve, went out of his way and even contacted other places for parts to fix my car. I sincerely appreciate and trust this place. read more

Steve is great. His prices are reasonable. If you're looking for an honest mechanic, Steve is the one. I bought a car and before I bought the car, I took it to him and he did not charge me anything to check it. I think he usually charges either $75 or $85 to do a bumper to bumper check on a car. Thanks Steve, you're awesome. read more

you don't know how much you appreciate an honest mechanic until you need one can't remember how to find him again! Steve is a very authentic business man. I took my 2001 dodge to the dealer and they wanted to charge me some insane some odd hundreds of dollars. ummmmm-nuoh! My friend introduced me to Steve. I took my car to him. He assessed the issue, told me how long it'd take, did what he'd said when he said. AND only charged me a quarter of what "the dealer" wanted. A year later...I need his services again. Now that I've yelped him, I can find him. Give'em a try. He's good people and good work. read more

I'll give them a star for having the professionalism to refund my money. But that's it. The word of the day here is "incompetence." My car was in 4 times for the same problem over a three-week period: overheating. I was told that the radiator needed replacing. OK. We replaced the radiator. On my drive home to Los Gatos, the car overheated, so I turned around and brought it back to the garage, smoke billowing out from under the hood. I was told the fan was bad. They didn't notice that it was only working in idle, not when driving. OK. We replaced the fan. One week later, trusting in the repairs, I was scheduled to drive to Los Angeles. At mile 124, the temperature once again went through the roof, the car began belching white smoke from burning engine coolant. This time, I was stranded in King City, 124 miles from home. How do I know it was 124 miles? Because I'm a AAA member with 100 miles of towing. And at $6/mile over that mark, trust me, you remember. I was told the temperature gauge was the culprit. OK. We replaced the temperature gauge. So what happens yesterday when I have to drive to Calistoga? Of course. It overheats. I pull off to the side of the road, and have to call again for a tow to bring me down from Calistoga. Another 120-mile tow. And when I show up this morning to figure out what was wrong, I am told that there is nothing wrong with my car, that there is no leak despite my sitting there watching coolant pour out of my engine, and the tow truck driver observing the same, and that he's done working on the car. He had done a pressure check and found that there was no leak, so therefore I'm lying. The end result is now I have a car that overheats, a mechanic who refuses to fix it, and yet another lost day trying to find someone to fix what he refuses to. read more

Update!! I brought my car back here a few weeks ago to get an oil change and have my transmission fluid replaced. I bought the transmission fluid myself (needed a specific brand); the price for the oil change (including oil and filter) and transmission fluid change cost somewhere around $45! Again, I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone! read more

I called to get an oil change on a Saturday without high hopes of actually getting in. But they were able to help me, and finish in less than 15 minutes! I've also previously brought it in for a 60,000 mile service check. I mentioned the breaks might need to be checked (because of squeaking sound). But they didn't find anything wrong with it and my breaks have been fine after that (no more sound). So they didn't try to sell me on a unnecessary service. I found out later though that they use old parts instead of new when fixing things (I went back here for another service). Also the oil change was really cheap... Too cheap because my hybrid car needs synthetic oil I hope they used it otherwise it will mess up my engine. I haven't been back here in a long time. Hard to find a good trustworthy mechanic. The search continues... read more

generally, i hate mechanics. it's not personal. really. i just always have a feeling they are out to cheat me because i don't know anything about cars. (which i don't really, but that's besides the point). HOWEVER, despite my feelings, STEVE is GREAT! my family and i (and extended family&friends) have been going to him for years now...he is honest, reasonable, reliable, and not out to get you... just got my 35k oil change and filter and steve was awesome enough to let me know my back brakes were good to go for another 5k (unlike other places who might've just told me i needed to change em then!)and filled in my windshield wiper fluids for me (since the light has been on for months now but i've been too lazy to fill it myself)... awesome! read more

Steve has handled our car maintenance needs for the last several years. He has shown himself to be professional and proficient, while maintaining very reasonable rates for his services. He is also very timely. I would highly recommend Cupertino Auto Tech to anyone without hesitation. read more

We have been coming to Steve for years. Steve is the only mechanic we take our cars to. We actually drive from Morgan Hill for all car servicing because he is the only mechanic we trust to do quality work and not rip us off. He's honest about how much left we have on our brakes and what's a priority to get done and what can wait awhile. We love Steve and his mechanics. Thanks Steve. read more

They seemed quite busy when I arrived, but I dropped off my Civic around 8:30 in the morning for new brake pads and an oil change and it was done just after lunch. Service was friendly and helpful and price was reasonable. Oil & filter change cost $25. I'll be back. read more

I brought in our Infiniti to find the source of a problem that caused the check engine light to illuminate. They helped me out immediately, ran diagnostics, and located the problem, which was a missing air filter from a recent oil change at Jiffy Lube on Stevens Creek & Wolfe (zero stars). While they didn't have the correct air filter on hand to replace it themselves, they didn't charge me anything for the diagnostic and were extremely pleasant to deal with. I'll definitely bring our car back here in the future should it need more work. read more

I have been taking my vehicles here for oil changes for years based and have never been disappointed. Quick little story - I found an issue with one of the doors of my Subaru, so I figured I would schedule an appointment with the nearby dealership. Next available appointment would have been in 2 weeks... On a lark I asked if Steve had time to check it out that day, since the problem was a security issue. I brought it in and he and his guys were looking at it an hour later. They quickly found the issue, fixed it, and charged me only labour. There are still good honest people out there, and Steve and his people are some of them! read more

So impressed with this auto repair shop. They're professional, affordable, and expedient! My car was making a hideously loud noise, so I called Cupertino Auto Tech after finding them on Yelp. Steve fit me in that afternoon, diagnosed the problem quickly (broken wheel bearing), and his team fixed it for me that afternoon. The rates were very reasonable too. read more

Steve is really honest. He's fast, reliable and provides very reasonable rates. I bought my first car through his service and he's kept my car in great shape for the past 5 years. read more

Great service and family friendly prices. Replaced all four brakes, oil change, and replaced a break light with a few hours. Thank you Steve! read more

Mr. Hao has provided me great work! He is very kind and will patiently explain details to my questions everytime.

Steve has been so honest and loyal, and have fixed every problem we've had with our cars. We've known him for 10 years and we were referred by a friend who has known him for over 15 years. We can count on Steve every time we need help with our cars and process regular checkups. read more

The steering of my Camry 1995 was clicking and shacking when I was driving. Steve inspected and told me that I need to replace the tire at least for the one at front-right and he suggested that COSTCO is the best place for changing new tire(s). So I did as he suggested and the steering problem is gone. THERE IS NO CHARGE FROM STEVE. read more

brought my car in for a brake service. After pointing out the sloppy work that his people has done, Steve got defensive and told me to go to other places. This place is a remove & replace type of garage. he can't diagnose problems and they are sloppy when busy! I would not recommend this place. read more

Don't believe the stars, if I could, I would give zeroooo... to this shop! My 2004 Toyota Camry engine starter need replace, because this is the closest auto shop near my home, I went there and ask the owner named Steve to give me an cost estimation. He only do rebuilt starter, no new parts. Even worst, his attitude is really really rude. I think the reason is he got 4.5 star, he think he is a big guy doesn't care about losing customers. Do not go there if you care about service NOT ONLY price! read more

These guys are honest and fixed my car fairly quickly. I would say that if the prices had been lower i would have given 5 stars. But honesty is why i will go back again. read more

Steve saved me on a pretty tough day. Windshield wipers failed on a trip to my wedding venue one weekday morning, and I had to get there. Can't drive on the highway in the rain with no wipers so I was stuck. Cupertino Auto Tech was the first place I called when I pulled off the highway. Dropped off the car, mentioned how I needed to get somewhere and Steve gave me a loaner vehicle, which I wouldn't have thought to ask for. I got to the venue in time and Steve got a new part delivered and installed within 4 hours, so I was able to beat traffic on the drive back to SF. Plus I feel he charged me a fair price for the work he did. I don't live in Cupertino, but if I did, I'd go back to Steve for any issues. read more

this is the worst experience with a mechanical in my life.. by a referral, I brought in my Japanese high-end SUV for 60k miles maintenance. After that I noticed some irregularities with my car. the car transmission seems not smooth as used be, the car even shut down once at a red light without reason.. around 4 weeks after the maintenance the engine light in the front panel lit, so I brought the car back to the shop for a look. The owner used a diagnostic instrument to run the car, and gave me a list of codes indicating what went wrong.. I said to him " tell me what is wrong the car, and don't show me these codes..." if I knew these codes, I would not need to take the car to the shop... He then wanted me to pay more money if I continue with more testing.. when I tried to reason with him, he become very upset, and even showed me a middle finger !! Afterward I took my car to a dealership, and had them looked at on my car; they ran some tests, and fixed the problem in 15 mins (it really is not problem, merely a misconfiguration) without charge me a dime ! what a big contrast ! I did not bring any business to that dealership yet, and they took care of problem without any charges.. I gave that stupid shop business to tune-up my car, and when I took it back when I saw some problems. He not only acted defensive, did not want anything to do w/ my car, and even showed me a middle finger.. what professional ethic is that !! it shows the shop lack of confidence in their repair work, no customer care... bad, bad, bad !! where would you take your car to next time when the car needs a tune-up ?? read more

My family has been taking our cars here for almost 10 years. Steve is truly sincere and hard-working. Regular oil change is only $25 and he makes sure you don't wait too long. Once my car intenna was stolen Steve was friendly enough to orderded me one for free since we're such loyal customers. my family used to live in cupertino area and even though we moved to Fremont about a year ago, we still come to steve for our car maintenance. highly recommend! read more

Great for a quick, well priced oil change. I got a tire rotation and oil change for $35 while I went out to breakfast around the corner. No appointment. I just drove right up. The guys were super friendly and good spirited. read more

I picked this place based on location (I could walk home after dropping off my car) and the Yelp reviews. Steve was able to replace my failing alternator in about 4.5 hours and the price was very fair. I would definitely take my car here again. read more

I was given a time estimate, I dropped off my car, got a call one hour later and was on my way. A simple and reliable transaction, the prices are beyond good -- would come again. read more

Convenient, quick, and reasonable prices. Very wide array of knowledge to identify and fix a variety of problems.

Steve is the best. Ihave taken my car in thinking I needed major work and he assured me it wasn't needed. When it is needed he is fast and explains things clearly. A couple of times I have taken my car in for little dumb stuff and he didn't even charge me. We have used him over and over and will continue to do so. Highly recommended!!! read more

Yet, again, Steve is amazing! My car was squeaky in the morning and I took it in. He could have totally told me I needed new brakes and he said they are just fine and don't need any work. Steve is great at repairs and so very honest when you don't need them. What a gem!!!! Cannot recommend more highly. read more
