My family and I visited this cute bakery on last Saturday. We decided to sit and eat inside. The owner was very friendly and hospitable. I wanted to try the strawberry cupcake but unfortunately they didn't have any. I ended up trying the Gateway cupcake, the icing was okay but the big hit was how moist the cake was. Even though I prefer cool whip instead of cake icing, this icing was light and fluffy. I also tried the church punch and the tropical punch and they were good. I liked the tropical punch better. In total I had 3 cupcakes and 2 punches. I ended up getting a giant chocolate chip cookie for free. The business is right down the street from my hair stylist so I'm sure I will get the chance to try different flavors. Wow!! What an awesome experience! I've been following Cupcake Junkie (Owner: Ms. R. Selders) since before she had her storefront but never got a chance to taste her pastries. Well, that all changed today and I'm so happy that it did. I work almost an hour from Baton Rouge but I got off early today and made it a point to visit. The shop was neat and clean, which was great. The owner was very nice, welcoming and attentive, which I appreciated. I purchased 6 cupcakes (2 Sweet potato casserole, 2 wedding cake, 1 salted caramel and 1 denial (chocolate) and 2 caramel pecan cookies, which totaled $28.00 (with tax). Specialty cupcakes (sweet potato) were a $1 up charge. I was happy to purchase all of these and support this establishment. OMG, was it worth it! The cupcakes were moist and delicious. The frosting was light and fluffy..nothing like the heavy sugar bombs that you sometimes get piled upon cupcakes. The cookies were also extremely tasty...they were perfectly crisp around the edges and soft in the center..exactly the way that I prefer them. They have a distinct flavor that makes them different from any other caramel pecan cookie that you've ever had...I urge you to purchase some and see if you can figure out the "secret";-). Robin definitely has a passion for baking that shows up in every delicious bite. I first heard about her through the yelp elite events. Now she has a place to show off her skills and oh boy does she have some ! I came in and was greeted immediately by Robin who was at the register, her smile is infectious..... as I'm smiling and checking out the wonderful window case of treats she says "how can I make your day better ?" Customer service at its greatest ! Although I wanted to say I need a million dollars, I don't think that's what she meant After much drooling and debating on one of each cupcake. I decided on "denial" which is a chocolate cupcake whipped vanilla frosting (I think) and any amazing slice of an eclair that was awesome ! The cupcake was so moist and great balance of flavor. The dollop of frosting was just enough and the eclair (oh my), creamy center, flaky and tasty chocolate. The other cupcake I chose for my husband was "Donot ?" I forgot the name but it had a glazed donut slide on top. My husband is very picky and normally won't eat desserts from anywhere but home or his mom, but loves vanilla cupcakes so I knew this would be a winner for him. Robin doesn't bake anything that tastes pre made or stale ! It was a vanilla cupcake with a dollop of vanilla frosting (I think) and the slice of glazed donut. He looked funny at first like what's that.... LOL ! Let me tell you that if he doesn't want or like something he will feed it to the twins LOL....He was pushing my daughter away because he didn't want to share LMBO ! Service is horrible. I went to get my children cupcakes that they've been asking for over a week. I decided to stop here because I've had cupcakes from here before and they were pretty good. I stopped and purchase 6 salted Caremel cupcakes. Before my kids got home me and my husband ate a cupcake and they were dry and hard. I called the owner the next business day because she had already closed for the day. I called and told her about the cupcakes being hard and she said she would replace them because they were 24 hours old. I said ok should I return the dry cupcakes and she said no. And I said ok. She called me right back with a different story and said no they aren't old they shouldnt be hard because She just baked them and if I could please bring the cupcakes. I said sure I would when I get back and town. She went on and on about how the shouldn't be dry blah blah. I said I understand but these are dry and hard. They had to be old because they taste stale. She waited on me after closing to bring the cupcakes. Once I got there She and another elderly lady that works there pressed on and tore up the rest of the 4 cakes that I did purchase and after said this how she expect her cupcakes to feel. I told her they don't taste like they feel! She said she wasn't tasting the cupcake because they left the store which I understand, but she then pulled out a receipt and said all sales are final. I paid $27 for 6 cupcakes ! Never said I wanted a refund. She offered moist cupcakes but then changed and said all sales are final. I had 4 cupcakes that she destroyed even though they were paid for them! I simply asked her for a refund of the four cakes her and her employee destroyed! She put me out the store and hung up in my face when I called her about it. Very rude. Very nasty. So unprofessional. We are humans and we make mistakes. I simply asked her to fix the mistake. But she chose to act NASTY!! So I basically paid $27 for 2 cupcakes. It's not my fault that the cupcakes were dry and hard! They obviously were old and stale. Im so glad i didn't feed these to my kids. She received my money but I didn't get my product! Please do better!!! She became so offended when I told her the cupcakes were dry like she can't make a bad cupcake. Didn't even try to fix the problem just screamed and yelled the whole time!! I heard great things about this place, so when I discovered there was a storefront as I was driving down coursey one day, I decided to give them a try. I'm not sure if the cashier (I think her name was Jayla) was having a bad day or what. But two women walked in before me. We were not greeted with a hello, how may I help you, nothing.
