Because Mellicia knows me, my style, and what I like, we don't have to start over each time I reach out. She's helped me over the years refine what we started together back in 2014 - sometimes my priorities or budget is different, sometimes my size and situation is different, but she gets it - she knows that that's how life is - and is always helpful AND supportive as she gives me these bursts of inspiration and guidance. Over the years, I've gone back for updated wishlists, closet edits (I choose to have her help me configure new outfits with what's in my closet in that moment - it's been so helpful to have a gallery of options on my camera roll for busy mornings) or the occasional one-off help with something specific for an event. All of these combined services that I can choose from takes the overwhelm out - it's like a menu of services that can be curated. Choosing from those services helps me cut through the noise and create options that just work for whatever situation I find myself in that feel and work just for ME, not just what's trending - and that's always been so important because I value my personal style, that she's helped me find! I've also really loved being part of her online community (Continuum) this past year - I'm so glad I've got access to this group, which is basically a wonderful community of women who share shopping and styling ideas, inspiration, gift ideas, tips and tricks - there are even moments to connect monthly live - as we put the tools and guidance that Mellicia has taught us all into practice with each other - it's like a force multiplier! It's been quite unexpected how valuable it's been. What I think I appreciate most - is that working with Poplin has never felt like just a one-time styling service, which is what I've experienced before with other stylists. Working with Mellicia feels like a genuine relationship - honestly, I can go a couple of years without checking in, and then come back for a little refresh, and we just pick up where we left off - like an old friend that gets you! Mellicia always meets me in the moment I'm in with zero judgment - and I'm so grateful. Looking back, this investment over the years in ME has been soooo worth it! I spoke with a few bespoke suit places and Jeff just got my style the best. While other suits were beautiful, I think the small details Jeff payed attention to and some of his designs for the more modern person. Pockets for days! Jeff was super friendly, accommodating and helpful. My lady requested a swatch of fabric to help tie together the Father's and best man's suit with mine and he was able to accommodate. The "funny" thing is I was wearing one of the suits I purchased from him in 2008. Still fits great. I wore a different sport coat and slacks into the office earlier this week from closer to 2006 and my office mates thought I got new clothes. They might cost more than an off-the-rack suit but I promise you that once you wear a custom suit, shirt or slacks you won't want to go back. And of course the cost per wear is pretty low after almost 20 years. And they aren't being removed from my closet. Jeff is super personable and not pushy. He knows his stuff and you'll look great and feel great because looking good is feeling good.

I was honestly pretty fatigued by that point and it required a calm sales associate to help my bruised ego. Thankfully, Seattle Bridal Rack was AMAZINGLY sweet, gentle, and not pushy at all. Other bridal salons would try to bully me into buying a dress but here, they were kind and patient and let me process the dress itself. Months later I'm wearing it at my wedding and it is the most beautiful I ever felt. I am incredibly lucky to run across this dress. My first visit was simply a walk-in. I was in downtown Seatle, where I was visiting and interviewing for work. Walking by the shop as I had some time to sight see and went to the Pike Market that day. I stopped in because the window manequins looked cool. I had to check it out. I gained a little weight over the Spring so I was looking for a few good pieces to update my wardrobe. JR was there. Very dapper guy. He was welcoming and offered a cup of coffee from his espresso maker in the back. We chatted about silhouettes, as he tried to see what I might really be interested in. He knew all the right questions to help me help myself. I made an appointment for later that week to design a suit for a big date I had scheduled for late Summer at Maryhill in Goldendale, my wine pickup party. I like to dress up for these things. Feels good to look good! I envied JR; he gets to dress up everyday for work. I work from home, so jeans and tee shirts are my regular attire. The appointment lasted about 1/2 an hour. JR showed me fabric books to pick the color and feel for my 2 piece suit. I found a nice wool, blue square pattern. The texture was the best part, kind of an open weave. Perfect for a late summer date! I picked up a new wallet and a pink shirt which I took home that day. Just as expected, JR called about 2 months later in August for me to test fit the new suit. It was perfect of course! I was stoked! Date at Maryhill was great too! Amazing wines, good food. Fabulous view. The drive was pleasant. My date loved it as well. To my surprise, I got jeans and sweater for my birthday which my date sourced at Harris & Tailor. They are Billy Reid jeans and the sweater is a Jach's NY Cardigan. J.R. chats with me casually about how things are done in Italy, though he doesn't know I've just moved to Seattle from Rome - and he's right: Quality and purchases to last for years are the emphasis, and it's a mindset I can see reflected as he returns my coat and jacket to me free of charge. The work is impeccable. Despite the triviality of my ask - replacing two buttons on a coat and one on a blazer - everything was sent off and returned in short order with the fabric brushed and cleaned, 'gratis'. Yelp? I just attended a 3-hour workshop given by Kim Peterson, Founder & CEO of Uniqely Savvy Inc.,…read morecalled "Dressing Your Personal Brand for Success & Influence." My only regret from this workshop is that I didn't take it SOONER! I work in Corporate Finance for a Fortune 100 company. My goal is to stay on the "fast track" and work my way into a C-suite position. Kim's workshop is designed for individuals who are serious about moving to the next level in life. She provided excellent pre-work/homework to get us to narrow down the qualities we want to most portray, such as "leadership, compassion, influence, or vibrancy/energy" to name a few. Then, we spent the workshop talking in-depth about these qualities and how to incorporate them into a "physical appearance" or personal style. Kim's workshop was top-notch and excellent. If you're looking to the "push limits" of your style and brand and/or be fully who you were designed to be, I'd highly recommend working with Kim Peterson. She's knowledgeable, passionate, and a true "champion" of people. I won't ever regret this investment.
