The amount of food you get, and the quality of food they provide is top-tier... not even putting into consideration that they are a burger and custard joint! They aren't often in the discussions with the big-wigs in southeast Wisconsin for fish fry, but I can say that I've waited in many lines longer, for worse ones, at places that were highly recommended for battered cod diners on Friday nights! If you wait until after 5, it's going to be a 30-45 minute wait... MINIMUM. But you'll understand why people are willing to sacrifice their time for this place, once you dive into your meal! Moderately battered cod pieces, perfectly fried in oil that's been changed often. Sits along with marbled rye that's been salted juuuust enough to bring out the subtle sweetness in the bread. Coleslaw isn't too creamy or vinegary, in case you're looking for a certain type like many people I know. My only complaint was having to pay for extra butters since the one they provide just isn't enough for the size of bread slice they give you. Even though 10 cents per butter isn't that much, and I understand that as a business it's not smart to give several per order just to have them potentially thrown out by customers, and I appreciate them not giving many away for free and having to cover those costs with higher prices for people that don't even use it. So just be aware that, if you're not eating it back at a place with butter available... you might want to order an extra butter per bread when you get your food so you don't have to get back into/add to the congestion of what is a typical Friday night dinner service! Either way, it's worth the wait, in my opinion! Whenever I have people come into town, and they want a great beer-battered fish fry, this has become my go-to. Considering beef prices are not coming down anytime soon, if ever, I think Murf's need to address the situation better than just slapping a small, dry, overcooked burger on a huge bun. For example, drop the tiny Single and Double patty menu items (you're only going to disappoint diners) and go with a Jumbo and Junior burger instead. Get a smaller bun for the Junior and don't overcook the meat. Then double the patty size for the Jumbo (one big patty is less likely to get overcooked and more satisfying to bit into - think Oscar's). They also need to deliver quality and value where they can afford to do it. There is no reason that the fries are undercooked and under-seasoned. The condiments are mediocre, and the custard thin. We still cleaned out plates, but the table was unanimous that we will go elsewhere next time because so many other burger joints deliver higher quality and value overall.

It also feels like they were more intentional with space for people standing in line and waiting for their order. The worker taking my order commented about how fast the register entered my order (which would indicate their payment system has been updated quite a bit too). Pre-fire interior had a more industrial dated look, but hey, throwbacks can be fun. The new interior is more modern with more of a cabin feel, which is quite a bit different, if you look around you can still see some of the artistic elements from before like the steel people around ice cream cones. The food itself was as I remembered it - no notable change there (not that it needed any changes, haha). Outside, the drive through has 2 lanes that merge into one. Parking is pretty similar, nothing I noticed to stand out as different. The seating area does feel updated, I can't recall there being much seating outside before (or it didn't imprint to my memory), so what's there now definitely stood out in a good way. Both my bacon cheeseburger and her chicken sandwich were just SLATHERED with condiments, to the point that they kept sliding apart when we tried to eat them. Fries were hot, crispy and salty...excellent! Her lemonade was watered down, and my chocolate shake was overloaded with chocolate syrup to the point I could only drink half. We also noticed an issue with parking. There were a couple of cars that were taking up multiple spaces on the lot. Not a good thing when you're busy and have tons of customers.
