Update to my earlier review - not much to add. In my opinion, Culvers still has one of the best fast food burgers in the area. Service at this location is good. You order at the counter and very quickly they deliver the food to your table. This time, I had a double butter burger basket. The double burger is a substantial amount of meat - you'd better be hungry. Their fries are very good - they were delivered hot and crisp. And I like their root beer. The only negative is their gluten free bun. They do take it seriously and the bun is delivered in sealed plastic for those with Celiac Disease. But the bun does not hold up - it starts to fall apart as the meat juices run into the burger. Fortunately for most diners, you'll get their regular bun which doesn't have this problem. I'd suggest to Culvers to test other Gluten Free bun options. Besides that, Culvers is consistent across their locations - good food and good service. read more

The service was absolutely top notch everyone was so friendly and incredibly attentive, which really made the experience stand out. Those burgers were perfectly cooked and incredibly delicious, and the cheese curds,Absolutely heavenly, warm and crispy a real treat. There was just one small thing I noticed when we first walked in, the place had a bit of an unusual smell. For me, one of the better Culver's locations in the area. The parking setup is off the main road, which avoids cross traffic and there's plenty of parking in a logically arranged setup in front of the store. The restaurant itself seems to be generally cleaner and better organized than some other locations I've been to. Service is fairly fast and friendly and there's a good amount of space to casually hang out at this restaurant. Most of the time it's not extremely busy, but even when it's busier - the layout is fairly effective at dispersing noise. Food is generally reliable here - hot food served hot, cold foods nice and cold. I generally come here for the custards, but occasionally get hot food (with a frozen treat after). While it's not the cheapest, I feel that you can get smaller portions here without paying high prices as most spots start with high prices for the smallest options with small increases in prices for significantly larger sizes. The options around the area (La Michoacana, McDonalds, etc.) are generally lower price overall though -- and I like Culvers more for sundaes that have mix-ins, as there's a lot more flavor choices elsewhere. Overall, solid spot for a sweet treat with a full selection of hot options as well. Good to enjoy standard American favorites at fast food prices. read more

Stopped by for lunch today and here are some thoughts: --We ordered at the counter, got drinks and napkins, and by the time we sat down, they were bringing out our food! --I tried their sweet tea for the first time and really enjoyed it. My husband and I went to Culver's for dessert. Before we entered we noticed a pond with live fish in it right outside the entrance. That was such a cool feature. We shared a two scoop flavor of the day (Devil's Food Cake) ice cream cup. It was rich and creamy and delicious. Definitely made my sweet tooth happy. This culvers was honestly the best customer service I've received, the staff were energetic and outgoing. Especially the assistant manager Kiana who made the ordering process enjoyable and fun! The Ambiance of this store is your standard culvers, But they have an extremely cool koi pool out in the front entrance which I had to stop to take a look at! The Koi were simply too cool to look over. The food was good, however, the concrete mixer was a bit much for me but thats mainly on my choice of double chocolate! read more

First time here in Illinois. This place was suggested by a coworker. It was off the hook! I enjoyed the double bacon burger and a root beer float. It was the best float I've ever had. The burger was a cross between In-and-Out burger and Burger Box which is my local dive for amazing burgers. I was in a happy place. Love the fish pond outside! Service was friendly! When you're looking for a quick burger and the dry, fast-food patties from the other places don't sound appealing, then give Culver's a try. This is one of my wife's favorite burger places because they make their burgers like her mother used to grill them. And the butter they add to the bun gives it a rich, juicy flavor. Everything is made to order and the meat is never frozen. They also have fish, chicken, soup, salads and comfort foods like beef pot roast or Reuben sandwiches. Over the years I've tried many of the non-burger meals at this place. It's always good. They also have self-serve soda machines so you can go back for refills. But the true reason I like to stop in here is because of their frozen custard. They have a flavor of the day and it's usually a tasty combination of sweet ingredients. And if you don't like the mixture they pick, you can build your own! They call it a Concrete Mixer and you can add nuts, candy, toppings, and even fruit. Every time I go I tell myself I'm going to get one after the meal, but after I've finished a sandwich and fries, I never have room left for one! This location has improved noticeably in the last few weeks. The problems we noted in the recent past seem to have been resolved. The custard was no longer "grainy" this time, the condiments area was clean and organized. The staff was even more accommodating than before, and the Butter Burger was as excellent as always. They have 2 non-cola diet drinks, their great Root Beer and Diet Mountain Dew, so finally some real choice at a fast serve restaurant. They clearly post the requirement for a vax card as well as a mask, but they really have no way of checking for proof. read more

I started going to Culvers years ago and enjoyed the food. However then I switch to a "Food as a Wellness Enabler" model. I then expanded incorporated this food model into my daily eating model. It produced great outcomes. After months of doing this I then decided to back to Culvers and had lunch. I got home and within a very short time I started feeling lousy. It was not a food poisoning issue I just felt lousy. I decided to look at what I ate and realized I had swallowed a bunch of bad chemicals. I then decided to look at other food items and found the same thing. My suggestion to Culvers leadership, change your menu from process food to real food. Currently the Culvers menu is contributing to Type II Diabetes, heart disease, increased cancer, strokes, and other chronic health issues. read more

It should be negative 100 stars. The Palatine location has NOTHING IN COMMON with the commercials "Made to order." Ha. Ha. We ordered a deluxe cheeseburger. It came out so damn fast. The cooks obviously pre-made the burgers. The burgers were cold, the cheese was plopped on 3/4 off the cold buns. The whole thing was precooked cold and a total lie from the commercials. Honestly love this place and a huge reason why would be the people that work there. Every time I order I find another grotesque way of asking for a lot of Andes mints in my concrete mixer just to pass a laugh or smile. Yesterday it was "inhumane amount" and they didn't fail . We are so happy to go there. The staff greeted us like your commercial. After that, it's not so special. We went to get our drinks, napkins and etc. This area was messy, not clean. All 3 ketchup dispensers were out of ketchup. This is during lunch hour. Told staff and waited for the food. Burgers and fries came, went to get the ketchup, none!! So, I went to the counter, and they offered to go ketchup. These were not baby proof. They were adult proof. 5 minutes later. We were eating cold fries with ketchup. I get it, lunch hour, but there were staff members hanging about, so this should have been told to the manager, and he assigned someone to take care of this along with the messy counter . This has to be one of the worst Culver's that I have been to. The sad part is that it's in my neighborhood. I live right around the corner and I would usually take a walk to try their custard of the day. It was never this bad. We usually stopped in at least once a week, but after our bad experience on Sunday afternoon we have to rethink our choices. Sunday afternoon we decided to swing by and have a quick meal. We love Culver's food and custard. Way better than any other fast food chain. So here's what happened, we walk in we noticed a couple girls by the register assisting other customers. Then there's this one girl not sure what her name is because her name tag wasn't visible. She's just staring straight without looking at us. It made us feel quite uncomfortable, because she looked angry. Not the kind of customer service you would expect. What happened to the greetings or at least the smile. Nope not this girl, once the other customers where done ordering we thought they would help us since the other girl was more like a statue. That didn't happen either, they stepped away and I could tell they noticed this girl with no attitude just stand there. She finally made eye contact, but when she took our order did not for one second look our way. Hardly said a word, after I was done paying we stood there for a good minute wondering if she would give us a number. Then mumbles you're done. Umm okay, how about our number. It was like we asked for a lot because she let the biggest sigh like if we where bothering her. Then we couldn't find a seat that was cleaned. Every table looked sticky and messy. Not many customers either. I'm not sure if there's no cleaning throughout the day but it seemed like no one felt like working or cleaning. I went grabbed napkins and cleaned my own table and booth. I've been coming here for decades and have never had a bad experience here! I usually order their Triple Bacon Butterburger Deluxe basket but also love their Walleye Dinners during Lent! Plus I've had their Cod, Meatloaf, and Pot Roast Dinners--they are all amazingly fresh, hearty and life-affirming!!All their frozen custard here is great too-- I have such a hard time choosing which flavors/quarts I want to take home, I usually just buy 4 of them at a time (their Party Pack)! As a Wisconsinophile, it's hard not to LOVE this chain of Wi Hamburger places. They focus on quality, so you'll have to wait a little for your food, but they'll run it out to your table, and everything they serve just tastes really fresh and good. From their home in Wi they've spread all over the Midwest, and this location is pretty close to my work- I come here on lunch breaks whenever I need a fix. This one gets bonus points too for having flyfishing wall art that further supports my Wi getaway fantasies! In addition to their famous "butter burgers," they have a great fried walleye dinner with mashed potatoes, and at one point (before they removed it from their menu!) I was completely addicted to their Sante Fe chicken sandwich (cajun chicken breast, jalapenos, cheddar cheese, red onions, avocado-mmm). Order a side of fried Cheese Curds! Plus, they serve all kinds of frozen custard ice creme treats too, but I'm usually feeling too guilty with the fatty food fest to top it off with dessert. So this is a burger & fries review only. Since I went to M Burger in Skokie the other day I feel the need to compare spots... I'll start by saying that the restaurant is clean and well kept. Service was good. Getting to the burger. It's basically a thin flattened patty on a big bun with a good amount of extras. So you'll get lots of tomato, lettuce, & stuff with a thin patty, & good bun. I mean it's ok but not if you really want burger flavor. I'm sure the double would help with the meat to stuff ratio... It might remind me of Steak & Shake with a lot less grease. One thing that I hate is that they don't melt the cheese even a little (se my photo)...boo! The fries here are strange. They are like potato bits that have been formed into a crinkle cut shape and deep fried. Just an odd texture to me... Overall I wouldn't do Culvers for a burger & fries. Not my first Culvers to check what flavor of the day they have. Apparently there was a dry spell for mint oreo as flavor of the day. Ive not been here in months as they always somehow made it unpleasant for me. Dirty counters/ lousy food prep. Today was no different. Lousy service. Tried to charge me for a sundae for 5.98 when simply asked for 2 scoops of flavor of the day for 3.19 with extra oreo for topping because theyre always skimping on mix ins in this location. It doesnt help when the kid taking the order is looking at me like I sprouted 2 heads when I tried to explain it to him. When I get my so called sundae. Good thing I got extra oreos because they were nonexistent in the 2 scoops or should I say 1 scoop and half? Will still come in here though I have BG and LZ locations to go to first for my first choice. Stopped in Friday night for two cones of the flavor of the day. I forgot to put on my mask, it was in my pocket. We waited a couple minutes before someone came over to take our order. After ordering, we waited about 10 minutes for our concrete mixers. And keep in mind, it was not very busy inside at all. We drove by there today. I haven't had a butter burger in at least 6 years. I was stuffed...but we decided to order some anyways...figured that we could just reheat them later. Ordered 2 small custards to go as well...plain for my son and fudge and nuts for myself. The custard was amazing as I remembered...but the fudge was almost nonexistent. They use those Spanish peanuts with the skin...and put way too many..so it was a little bit too salty. Just reheated my butter burger. Ugh. These are no good reheated. Ewww. Fresh, they are amazing..the meat crisp at the edges... When you reheat them all kinds of gross things happen. I heated the meat portion only. And then I put it back together. This caused the bun to get hot...and all the butter to react...way way too greasy. The meat itself....well do you know what a meat goblin is? My friends and I coined that weird meat gristle that always ends up in your mouth after eating a Mcdonald's burger a meat goblin. It doesn't matter what part of the burger you eat...there is always a meat goblin in your mouth when you are done. The reheated piece of meat was all meat goblin. I couldn't even eat half. I still give it three stars because if I had eaten it fresh, I probably wouldn't have noticed, and their staff is pretty courteous. read more

Hate to say it, but Culver's is one of those chains that's easy to forget about, and seeing that I'm the first to review this place in two years, it looks like others feel the same way as well. This place is OK - what I like about this and other Culver's is the variety that other fast food places don't offer. I had a Pork Tenderloin sandwich at this place - a seldom seen option on take out menus. A substantial offering for the price. Shakes and malts are excellent as well.
