After an interesting dinner experience at Ruby Tuesdays nearby, we drove around and decided to have ice cream for dessert. I wanted real ice cream. I thought about Walmart, but we did not want to wander around Walmart looking for the ice cream section. And we just wanted to head back to the house to unwind since it was getting close to 8 PM on a Sunday evening. With that said, I noticed a culvers on the way back, so we decided to come here. The best thing about Culver's is that they have a drive-through option, which was practically perfect for us. They experience here took about five minutes in the drive-thru. The basic premise of this was just order what you want to do the menu, pay, and pick up the order. It was a quick thing and loved it because it was quick. The only thing about it was, I was asked About getting fresh frozen custard or prepackaged. It was pretty cool that they could get the fresh one so quickly while we were waiting I ended up getting a pint of chocolate frozen custard, my friend got a sundae of some sort, and my friend's wife got something similar to that. I ended up eating my pint of chocolate frozen custard at the house while watching television. It was nice. The prices here weren't that bad, but I went into it blindly since I was on vacation and money didn't seem to matter as much. Besides, ice cream normally doesn't cost that much anyway. For the most part, though, this is a great alternative to your Baskin-Robbins, and other ice cream shops anywhere. Unless you can find a homemade ice cream stop, that makes their own from scratch, This would be your next best solution for ice cream and other delectable delights that they offer here. Culver's also sells fast food items like hamburgers, and french fries, but I remember them for their delectable ice cream treats. I wonder if they make more sales on the ice cream or the fast food side, but that's a story for next time. The overall experience here at Culver's Frozen Custard restaurant Here in Mitchell, South Dakota was exceptional, just because we were in the drive thru, it was fast, and they got my order straight. Chances are, you can't go wrong with that unless you mumble or something that can confuse staff here or anywhere for that matter. And so the ice cream ended up being as awesome as it was and no regrets here it was just a ice cream craving that just happened to fall on vacation here in South Dakota. There's a major credit cards as well as cash because cash is always excepted anywhere. As far as parking goes, they have a wide and generous selection of parking near the restaurant. There's also residential parking nearby, but your best bet will be parking next to the restaurant for sheer convenience. I'm not sure about the local public transportation options here but if I were you, I would rent a car or find a friend who has one and get here. The ice cream is awesome and you would be if you came here too. There's also a Lyft/Uber here if that can meet your needs. Truth be told, my friend Joe will be around town this Labor Day weekend 2023 and it was a way to pay him back by taking him out for ice cream. It was cool and thankful that I came here when we did since there was a line after we pulled into the drive-through and I guess people love their ice cream after a certain time of day here in South Dakota. We saw Culver's so many times as we were driving around between towns and was so excited when we finally were able to order and oh my! Everything that our family ordered was fresh and delicious. The burgers were juicy and tasted like meat should, seasoned to perfection on toasty buns. The crinkle cut fries were crisp and salty, cheese curds were fried to perfection and great with cheese sauce and the shakes and cement mixer were rich, creamy and filling. Literally everything about this place was perfect. The food was perfectly assembled and crafted, they had a fully staffed kitchen, the front desk and serving staff was incredibly kind (above and beyond) and it was incredibly clean, with employees actively cleaning the floor while we dined in, which is sadly something you don't see very often anymore. I hail from farther east in the US, so we don't really have Culver's out there, but man is this place incredible. The peanut butter & chocolate custard Mixer was delicious. I rarely get food as Culver's as I feel like its quality has diminished greatly over the years. The burger seemed to be overcooked. The "buffalo" chicken tenders tasted just like regular tenders. I got to the bottom of my Mixer, and there was something hard in it. I pulled it out, and realized it was a piece of plastic. This place was super busy for lunch on a Wednesday. Had to combine two tables from two corners of the restaurant and beg off unused chairs even for our party of 5. I even asked if the food runner/employee could help us put together a table and got a half shrug and no help. Root beer, burgers and concretes. Get it! This place was hyped up due to my traveling buddy but it delivered. Yes, it's fast food but the burgers were fresh and delicious! I'm one of the people who don't get the In-N-Out craze but I could get down with this spot! The fries and concretes were tasty as well. It was packed when we arrived but there was a ton of seating and all of the staff we interacted with were very nice and kept the place clean with how crazy it was. Right off I-90. We stop once a year for Culver's as they have none in our state. Always so fresh and delicious. This place was packed at 1pm on Wednesday afternoon, but they kept tables moving and food was delivered hot & fresh in a timely manner. There was a long order line, but an employee wiping down table numbers stopped what she was doing to joyfully fill our kids' custard coupons. This was my first time at Culvers, period, and it did not disappoint. The burger and sweet potato fries were amazing as was the Reese's frozen milkshake/custard. Unique to this location were clean facilities, friendly staff and a great location right near Cabelas. When we walked in the line was several customers deep, but the efficient staff had fast customer throughput and were ready for me to order before I have even the slightest clue what I wanted. The patties were thin, crisp exterior, very juicy and tasy. Its like they cooked it with herbed compound butter. All the crew members look and act professional. -1 star for the layout of the restaurant, it's a bit dark inside and very tight. Maybe time for remodeling. Open space perhaps? Stopped by on our way through town. Needed something fast. Even though they were busy, it was pretty fast. My husband got a burger and really liked it. The fries were great, also. I got a Chicken Cashew salad which was ok. Plenty of cashews, and chicken was fairly good. Lettuce was the typical fast food iceburg stuff that's hard to eat, and just plain blah!
