There is absolutely nothing quite like a good crinkle cut French fry. I could be in the middle of a Channing Tatum Alex Trebek (shut up...you know you've dreamed of him) sandwich and I'd pause it to get some crinkle cuts. Channing would flex as he squeezed ketchup out and Trebek would snootily tell us the origin of the fry. Yeah...that's a legit Terri fantasy. You'd think a crinkle cut fry would be great just about anywhere. Nope. The grease needs to be clean, fluffy in the middle but a firm crisp exterior and it needs to be dunkable in some ketchup. Culver's does it perfectly every freaking time. Yeah, they have burgers with buttery buns, but who gives a crap when they have perfect fries? It's a little pricier than the Happy Meal for the kids, but kids meals come with an ice cream. Mine LOVE Culver's and we hit it up anytime we are doing family movie night (it's next door to Family Video). They also have some redonk chili. Hells yeah I make my own, but I've also been known to hit up Wendy's and Culver's. Culver's is more like homemade, really substantial and all. Onions and cheese on it take it from "pretty good" to "shut up and take my money" greatness. Go. Get fries and chili and fantasize about game show hosts. Pat Sajak is a good one too. I love Culver's. Their tuna melt sandwich is to die for. Love their Butterburgers and their fries. But they really missed the boat with their Harvest Veggie Burger. My wife and I ordered a couple plus fries to go. Fries were excellent. The veggie burger had zero taste and the consistency of mush. The bun was also soft, so we had ourselves a couple of mush burgers. Neither one of us could eat even half, so we threw them away and headed to the nearest McDonald's for a couple of quarter pounders. Not the best burger but edible (which Culver's veggie burger was not). I contacted Culver's to give my feedback and asked them to contact me. They never did. Ordered a cake cone with mint chocolate chip. Came 10 minutes later and gave me a bowl of chocolate. The server told me she gave my ice cream to someone else and would fix it. 30 minutes later nothing happened so I went up to the same server who told me they were making me wait because mint chocolate chip wasn't on my ticket. I would have just paid another $2 but the line was too long. After another 10 minutes they come out with a half vanilla half mint chocolate chip bowl which I again told them was wrong so they literally set a cone on top and gave it back. Thanks Culvers! I am sure you have been to many burger joints. What makes this place different is that it is truly kid friendly (the menu folks) Every time we turn around and ask... "where would you like to eat?" The warrior does not hesitate in repeating the last restaurant names he can remember. The burger was well prepared (not salty as some), there is enough choice on the menu to satisfy his little appetite. Yes, we drove from Murphy TX to visit this joint. We are glad we did. Culver's burger are ok. I wouldn't give them a 4 start but ok. Best to eat them when you are starving cuz you can't really taste quality when you are really hungry. Culver's is right around the corner from my home and it is very convenient burger joint outside of McDonald's which is basically in my neighborhood as well. The major difference from McDonald's and Culver's is McDonald's is consistent wirh the product. You know what you are getting. Culver's on the other hand claim to make their burgers to order which is not true. Any fool knows a hot patty when they taste it. Also the veggies are not fresh the time. I can say when they do make a burger like it should be made based on what the promise regarding fresh, it is the best burger in town. However, they just cannot be consistent with that goal. I even requested a freshly cooked patty and fries ans the old lady that took my order behaved as if I insulted her. She replied" our burger are always cook fresh". I did not want to argue wirh her cuz the truth is in the pudding. Got my burger and the meat was crispy on the edges as it looks when it sits on the over keeping warm. No one is stupid lil old lady. Anyone, i sat down and ate the nasty as wet burger cuz I was very hungry. This is about the third time I have been disappointed by Culver's burgers. I recently came to this Culver's location and will not be returning. My experience was overall disappointing. The food took absurdly long to receive, and when the food arrived, I was disappointed by the stale burger bun. When waiting for my food, I was extremely uncomfortable with the hot temperature of the restaurant. The ice machine was also not working. I was especially grossed out by the young man behind the counter scratching his armpits and rubbing his face. Something you don't want to see as he was an employee traying food. Culver's has been a staple in my life since I moved to the Midwest. It was a regular stop for us when we'd drive to and from visiting the in-laws. When we moved to Dallas I was sad that I couldn't have Culvers any more. Little did I know, Culvers is here!! My go to is the double cheese burger with fries and a concrete. Let's just say that I'm glad I had to get my battery changed next door at the Auto Zone because I would have never came here out of my own free will. I've seen ratings for it on yelp before but it didn't make me want to jump into my car and drive there immediately. It was clean inside and I mentioned it was my first time and the cash register clerk made recommendations for me. I had their basic deluxe burger with onions rings and the meat was juicy and delicious. Onion rings were top notch and I even got a free scoop of ice cream since it was my first visit. Been to a Culver's once many years ago and it was time to reacquaint the palate. Took the hubby here for his first time and we thought they had a drive thru? Still not sure on this but I see other reviewers confirm they do. We placed an order via call-in and the guy was super nice and said he can get our order ready in 5 min. Yay! We ordered the deluxe burger combo, shrimp basket (you get a choice of 6 or 10pc), an Oreo concrete and strawberry shake. Everything was delicious. The shrimp were huge and crispy and comes with cocktail dipping sauce. The concrete was a little on the soft serve side but was still good. Great burgers, excellent crinkle cut fries, and good old style frozen custard along with bright and efficient (Chik-Fil-A style) counter help. This is just BETTER fast food. Many different items on the menu so it's not your typical burger joint. Soups, chicken, fish, pot roast, pork tenderloin and more all sound great but that "butterburger" was so damn good it would be hard to pass up on my next visit. Loved this place from my first bite. Add the addition of Miss Kitty (the dining room hostess) and this becomes a regular stop whenever nearby. read more
