Just went thru the drive thru to try this place while visiting from out of town. The guy at the drive thru was very nice and took to explain different parts of their menu. The line in the drive thru was a bit long for a late night bite but to be expected for a fast food place that makes to order. We tried their burgers, fries, fish and chips, their turtle sundae. We ordered on our phone, at the table, to take advantage of the rewards program. I have to be honest that it definitely takes longer to order that way. The curds were outstanding tonight. One issue with ordering online, to dine in, is that while they do bring your order, often ketchup and napkins aren't. It was pretty cold in there tonight and not a lot of tables were occupied. Stopped at Culvers in Dubuque on 7/09/2025. I ordered a grill chicken sandwich basket and a strawberry fields salad with grilled chicken. I am so disappointed. The grilled chicken had so much gristle in it it was inedible. It was thrown away. If that's your great new chicken with a really high price get rid of it. You should be ashamed to even serve this to customers. I know I won't Be going to Culver's very often anymore. Your food sure has gone downhill. The quality is awful. Food is good when you get the right order. This is the third time I've had a problem with this location. First, my online order was given to someone else and we had to wait 30 minutes while they remade the food. Second, I only ordered ice cream and they got all three mixers wrong and I had to wait 45 minutes in the drive thru. Just stopped by Culver's for 6 fish sandwiches, fries and shakes. We asked for extra tartar sauce for two sandwiches when ordering. Checked again when we got to the window to make sure they put it in the bag and assured me it was. Well it wasn't and my bad for trusting that they put it in. Really weird chubby ponytail kid working the drive through. Out of nowhere he starts babbling on and on about some badge on my truck. Kind of a nut job and rude to customers. Honestly a few of the drive-in workers seemed to be "on the spectrum" of weirdness. One guy wearing a Darth Vader Covid mask at work 2 years after the pandemic . Their ice cream treats, in my opinion, are the only reasons to go to Culver's. The food is pricey for what you get. I think the best value is the chicken fingers, but they are only a little bit above average. On the other hand, their ice cream is excellent. I got a chocolate malt on day one, and went back two more times for a malt during my week in Dubuque. read more

We often stop at Culver's for a meal. Not a place for "dinner," it is fine for burgers (the special is the Butter Burger), chicken sandwiches, fries, etc. Walk in, order at the counter, get a number and have a seat. Your food is delivered to your table. We often share an 8-piece chicken tenders. 4 tenders are a fine serving. Breading is pretty light and they are always crisp. Order an 8-piece for two rather than two 4-piece orders for a bit of savings. The food is good and the frozen custard is great to top things off. Flavor of the day is usually worth it. A one scoop dish can be just enough. Two scoops can be a bit too much (if that is possible!). For variety order a "Concrete Mixer." Vanilla or chocolate frozen custard with a choice of add ins. Culver's combines good burger-fare and frozen custard for a good meal or treat break. read more

I've been to a number of Culver's locations and this was, by far, my least pleasurable visit. The staff was courteous, the restaurant was clean, but the food was just bad. I ordered a single butterburger combo with cheese curds instead of fries. The curds were the best part. The burger was smashed thin (probably 2/3 of it was outside the bun side) and burnt. The Culver's root beer on tape was good as usual, at least. For dessert I had a tall butterscotch shake. It tasted great but most of the butterscotch syrup was still on the side of the cup and I had to take the lid off and use my straw to mix it back in to the drink. I suspect most of what I found fault with, would be different on a different shift with different staff working, but I was just not that impressed with my meal overall. read more

When road tripping and there's no time to stop for a sit-down meal, Culver's is one of my go-to stops. This location is near a lot of shopping so was mighty busy for lunch. The bathroom wasn't the most pleasant, but the staff were extra friendly and totally easy-going when listening to the list of customizations I wanted on my cod sandwich... why does Culver's put cheddar cheese on the cod sandwich?? why. Alright crew, gather 'round and listen. I sure hope Craig Culver doesn't walk in your store anytime soon. The patties on my burger not only weren't cooked through, but you didn't even sear them right. It's a proper sear that gives the burger that full, rich taste you experience in a Butter Burger. And the fries were far from hot. Culver's has great fries but they have to come right out of the fryer. And you put unsweet tea in the sweet tea dispenser. Team, it's attention to detail which makes the product great, and that was missing here. It was barely ordinary. I expect better. That is all. read more

Culver's is one of those fast food joints that just makes my belly happy upon hearing the name. It's one of those comfort greasy foods that just send your taste buds wild upon first bite. I believe their burgers are better than any other fast food joints out there. There burgers are tasty, flavorful, and juicy. My personal favorite is the is the double sourdough melt. The burger consist of two buttery crispy pieces of sourdough bread, with two pieces of oozing, melty cheddar cheese between the pieces of patties and flavorful cooked onions. As or their fries, I don't think there is anything special about them. They are adorably cut, but they do not have much taste on their own without ketchup. However, I love Culver's compared to all other fast food joints like McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy's is because of the price. It seems as if a Culver's burger meal is much more reasonable and affordable in price compared to the others since you get the same about of food as other joints but you pay a lot less. Amazingly good food for a reasonable price is aways a bonus in my book. :D read more

I just went through the drive-through. I asked for ketchup when I ordered my meal. I again asked for a catch-up at the window. I was told by the person working the window that ketchup was in my bag. They told me to drive around and wait. After I was away from the restaurant and eating my meal I noticed there was no ketchup. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service that I received. I contacted culvers and the assistant manager wouldn't even let me talk to the restaurant manager to make a complaint. This is by far the worst customer Service experience I have had at culvers. I would not recommend going to this culvers due to the customer service. read more

Went to buy a pint of ice cream for myself had a couple scoops of it at home and I found a receipt literally in the Pint that I thought was going to be new that was dated a week ago. I honestly think it was disgusting and I called the manager and he said he was going to look into it because there should be no excuse for that so I ended up dumping the rest of my ice cream away. Spend 5 bucks for this pint and only got $0.25 really out of it would I do it again no but I'm getting a free one anyways. But still how did it get in there I would like to know and I may be calling corporate in the morning and reporting that because this is just not ok. I hope they understand I am not playing around and after I get my free pint ice cream I will never go back to Culver's again they have lost my business from now on I will find other places to enjoy ice cream. The best fast food in Dubuque hands down. Everything is cooked fresh to order and is high quality. For the most part the prices are good...except some of the higher end items such as the Walleye for $11 (ouch) and some of the better sandwiches are priced high. Always a selection of delicious homade soups and the custard and custard sundaes are delicious. They also have the best fries (crinkle cut of course) of any fast food place and they are always hot and crispy. read more

Culver's is the only fast food out there that I'll eat. Not only is their food--from the patties to the chicken and pork tenderloin--delicious, but also of great quality. The crinkle fries are tasty too and not overly salted. But let's be real--the custard is where it's at. I have a few favorites (the mint shake, for example) but whatever you order, you can't go wrong. read more
