In full disclosure, my husband rated this company 1 star, given the lack of customer service we experienced from an owner. Below is mine. Our sales rep was very good to work with. He explained everything we asked, & we thought we understood the system we were buying -- Medallist Plus Series, which was one of the best at the time to our knowledge. We thought, per our conversations with our sales rep, our system's display would tell us when the salt was out, but after 2 years (and 4 people using the water) we checked the tank to find no salt at all but a small buildup of water. I called Culligan's office but was told the system we bought didn't have a sensor for low-salt levels. We looked at our paperwork, disagreed & called back to say it was malfunctioning. Without alerting us there would be a charge ($95 service call), a technician was sent. He, very kindly, explained the sensor was for an internal function, not the salt level. He then replaced a small part he recommended replacing every 3-4 years (a backwash flow control for $3.84+tax) and left. My husband's review stated we were surprised with a $100+ bill since we weren't alerted to these charges beforehand. The owner responded to my husband's review stating "Our technician found your system to be working properly and performed routine preventative maintenance. There were no other charges beyond the standard service charge." To me, the company's response is false. She either didn't review our file or is just trying to sound good in the response. When we unexpectedly received the ~$105 bill, my husband called & spoke to Kendra, co-owner & customer service manager. After explaining everything & stating we didn't feel the charge was warranted, she told my husband she "didn't care" & expected us to pay the full amount. Her complete lack of empathy, explanation, & customer service was appalling so we called our sales manager. Within a couple minutes he understood the disconnect & said he'd try to get Kendra to agree to a reduced cost since it was a miscommunication about the system, but we never heard back. About 3 weeks later, we received another bill -- this time with a finance charge due to late payment. I immediately called our sales rep & said in no uncertain terms we wouldn't be paying the finance charge. He was able to get that removed. While we paid the original bill amount, we still don't agree with this charge & think Culligan's office staff should work on their communication, transparency & customer service skills. read more

I just had a water softener and drinking water purification system installed. My original system went bad a little while back and because it worked so well I decided to go with Culligan again. The original system was installed in 1979 for a cost of $850. The new system which was just installed (45 years later) at a cost of $4197. I think that is a great deal as there has been 45 years gone past so if this new system lasts as long as the old one I won't be around to replace this one. I would like to make special mention of the installers who were also the sales people. Several weeks ago I noticed the Culligan van sitting at my neighbor's house so I went over and talked to the guys and they came over and went through everything and gave me a total price, which I mentioned earlier. We agreed on everything and they installed it today. I must say ED and AUSTON are true professionals so i want them to get a nice pat on the back for a job very well done. There were a few problem that came up and they handled them with no trouble. The install looks great and works as advertised. ED and AUSTON you guys did a great job I can't thank you enough. Everyone is friendly and they do what they say they will do. I have used their services over the past 5 years and they have always been thorough with their communications. I have always felt that their prices are fair. They give accurate time for their mechanic to arrive and they complete their service visits timely. I switched 2 years ago to a new service company. The second year they came to do my annual service, the mechanic told me our 5 year old water softener was shot and we needed a new water softener unit that would cost nearly $3000. I decided to call Culligan for a second opinion. The immediately found the problem which was $10 of gasket seals. Don't use anyone else. They're there best! Their business is making your water the safest. read more

We switched to Culligan for our water treatment needs after they purchased Eichelbergers water treatment company (Eichelbergers was a fantastic company). Our tenant called us sometime before July 1, 2021 saying the water treatment system was no longer operating and their water was terrible. The area they live in has a very high iron bacteria content. It makes the water smell terrible and stain everything orange when the system does not work. On July 1, Kevin from Culligan stopped at the house and determined the pump for the water treatment tank was not operating and he needed to take it back to the office to diagnose and/or repair. On July 2, Kevin called and said the circuit board was bad and needed replaced. He said he would contact their rep and would hopefully get a replacement by July 6 and install it on July 7. Sounded ok. In a phone conversation on July 5 we learned that Kevin had still not talked with the rep and was waiting for a phone call back. On July 6 Kevin had still not spoken with the rep so we asked for the part number. That way we could try to find it, but he refused to provide it. After searching the internet and making some phone calls we obtained the part number and ordered the part. On July 7 Kevin called back with pricing for the part but it was still not ordered. He also said Culligan would have the part and replace it on July 20. We told them to forget it......we already ordered it and would do it ourselves which we did. Our tenants could not use their water all the time Culligan was waiting around for a phone call back. They definitely did not care. If we would have continued to use them the tenants would've been without water for over 20 days. Totally unacceptable!! Especially when the part was accessible if they would've looked. We have already found a new company and so far so good. read more

They installed a water softener for me in the late 80's. Worked perfectly; well past the estimated life expectancy of the unit. The new unit installed in 2020 may outlive me. From the salesperson to the technicians, all were courteous and professional. read more

Dedicated support representatives that don't leave until they figure it out! We had them out 3 times in a month, each time they helped us understand the global water situation in our house. They fixed anything they could, the referred us to others to make sure our home was taken care of professionally. read more

The technician arrived on time and was very polite and gracious! Since, we installed our water conditioning system, our dishes and glasses sparkled and were very clean! The coffee and tea tasted so much better! We came out of our baths looking clean, and our skin stayed hydrated until the next shower! No more lime deposits on the faucets and the toilets sparkled and stayed cleaner, longer! I can't believe we waited so long to purchase the Culligan water system! read more

Steer clear of Culligan Water if you want your basement to stay dry. We had a water softener installed the beginning of June and it has been spraying water all over our water room since then. Called the company to have it fixed and they were less than helpful. They continued to deny it was their fault even though there was no leak prior to their install. My husband also brought up this concern to the installer who insisted it wouldn't be a problem because there's a check valve. The manager I spoke to said that's not right because there is no check valve. Either the installer or the manager have no idea what they are talking about. The manager also told me that they only see these kinds of problems with certain types of plumbing, but the installer never bothered to account for this and still installed in a way where they've seen previous problems. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed in the service we've received, especially for the amount of money we paid to have a working, non-leaking water softener installed. read more

The customer service that you receive when you call this company is mediocre at best. When I moved into a rental property, they quoted my landlord one price for the equipment they provided and quoted us a different one when the account was established. The person responsible for billing is never available and the employee you're are speaking to will become rude and know nothing. I just want the refund that I am owed and TWICE now, my question regarding my refund can't be answered. read more

When building my new home, a water softener was installed. I've never had one before and knew nothing about caring for and maintaining the unit. Culligan was excellent. Their representative came to the house and showed me everything I need to know about the unit. We discovered that I needed salt, and he arranged for the salt to be delivered. The salt delivery was easy and smooth as well. I would highly recommend this business! read more
