PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING. There were multiple red flags that we initially dismissed, and the very last FIFTH flag was unacceptable. We want everyone to know about our experiences before they invest into Culligan product(s).
After researching, we went with Culligan at the recommendation of two relatives. We had a consultation with Lorraine Nolen, area sales manager, for water softener system and reverse osmosis system.
Lorraine said that she assigned Arturo, their best installer, to install the system for us because our drywall needs to be patched up during the installation process. We thought this was great because Arturo patched our relative's drywall, which was unremarkable. Lorraine also said that we won't have water marks on our glass.
Thus, we signed the purchase agreement, which did not specify their return policy pertaining to us (FIRST red flag). We dismissed it because we really wanted to like them--huge mistake.
On the installation day, Arturo did not show up and his colleague covered him instead (SECOND red flag). We dismissed it because life happens.
After the covering installer was done with installation, we looked at the drywall patch--it was terrible (THIRD red flag). Because Arturo couldn't come in, we dismissed it. We didn't bring up the terrible patchwork with the covering installer because he had another place to attend to and it was already late afternoon/early evening.
We had our water softener system and reverse osmosis for twenty days and still noticed water marks on our new shower glass walls and on our dishes in the dishwasher. We texted Lorraine to request a checkup. In addition, the RO system inconveniently takes up half the space, which we did not expected.
We had our inspection/evaluation within 30 days from installation date. We told the inspector our dissatisfaction with the water softener system. He inspected the system and reported "soap scum", which didn't make sense because the "soap scum" doesn't come off with rubbing or Lime Away. In addition, our glass in the dishwasher has water marks--even with Rinse Aid. (FOURTH red flag).
We reported our thoughts and concerns with Lorraine. She came in, tested the water, and mentioned that if we are still unsatisfied with the system to request a refund. So far, these experiences left a bad taste. We didn't want to receive Culligan services anymore and to return both systems. Thus, we requested refund.
HOWEVER, this request was denied by Joe Hradetzky, area general manager.
Of note, their website advertised, "if customers are dissatisfied with their Culligan product for ANY reason within 30 days of their purchase, Culligan will REMOVE the product and refund the purchase price."
In other words, if we needed to report dissatisfaction with their product within 30 days.
This is exactly what we did, but Joe denied our request. He said that we needed to request return within 30 days--which is different as advertised on their website.
My husband and I really wanted to be respectful. However, this FIFTH red flag was UNACCEPTABLE.
Red flags after red flags! This last red flag is the reason why we are writing this review. We spent thousands of dollars for both products and expected excellent services. Instead, they set our expectations high and let us down many times.
We went with Culligan because they did a great job on installing their product for our relative, who had the same exact floor layout as we did. That didn't happen. We were told that there will be no water marks. That didn't happen. Moreover, how can Joe deny our request for refund/removal when this refund policy not specified on the purchase agreement/contract?
Proceed with caution and advocate for yourself if you notice the first red flag.
We moved into a new construction neighborhood. Many neighbors asked us about their products. We advised all of them to stay away from Culligan.
Joe Hradetzky, Area General Manager of Northern California, if you see this, we will not delete this review until you give us our full refund and remove both products. read more
