Kudos to both these gentlemen as my 2 year old granddaughter decided they were there to see her. She is not shy at all. He then arrived on time, inspected the damaged area and the entire roof and told me that my roof is still great and that he could get the damaged area patched up the same day. Long version: Scenario - It's a freezing (sub 40 degree) day in North Texas and I'm out of town on a business trip with my wife, son and mother-in-law at our home in Flower Mound. Wife calls and says the heater is not kicking on. She calls an HVAC company who comes by checks the heater in the attic and says, the unit is working however there is a pipe that vents through the roof of the attic that seems clogged or bent, but they don't do those type of repairs and she would need to call a roof company. Frantically, I scour Yelp for a good review and find people glowing about Bret's service and I give him a call. It's late in the day on Friday and when I explain the scenario, he immediately sprung into action and helped us resolve the issue. I'm going to highlight multiple reasons why Bret, owner of Texas Pride Roofing and Fencing will always have my business for roof and fence needs for as long as I live in the DFW metroplex. 1. Promptness - When I called Bret although it was later in the day, he was willing to head to our home and check out the situation, getting to our home in a couple of hours due to the severity of the situation. 2. Honesty - He took photos of the situation and gave a fair assessment of the situation. In this instance he said, "I don't have all of the parts that I need now but I can get you up an running for today, and then come back next week after I'm able to get the parts when I can get to a supply shop" 3. Thorough - He was on the roof, in the attic, and investigating the situation from every angle. Shared photos of his assessment, and was descriptive about what he was doing. 4. Genuine - The first time he came to the house, he hopped on FaceTime to talk to me and make me feel at ease with him at the house with my wife and family. You can look at someone's eyes and know that they are being sincere, that is this guy 100% 5. Follow up - It took him coming to the house a few times to get the situation completed, and I had to ask him for an amount that I owed him. He wanted to make sure that I was satisfied before asking for money. A true stand up guy, good business man, and yes, the roof is fixed, the exhaust pipe repaired, and the heat is working. We even know the owners personally and they still screwed us over, so imagine what they would do to you if you don't know them.... This was our first experience with a home insurance claim for water damage and John, whom we attend church with, coached us not to contact our insurance until their job was done, pay them as soon as they removed the last piece of equipment, and submit the receipt to insurance and insurance would pay us back. He said we would maybe have to push a little and send a few emails, but 100% of their customers have had insurance pay in full. He lulled us into a false sense of security, and add on top of this our trust in him because of knowing him personally, we believed him. BIG MISTAKE. We paid him upfront over $12,000 cash and insurance said the job was only valued at a little over $8000 so that's all they reimbursed us for, putting us out $4500! My insurance tried contacting them multiple times to have them explain the excessive charges, they ignored their calls. After speaking to John myself, Jeff finally answered my adjusters call who explained some charges, and John contacted me after saying my insurance agreed to pay the rest of the bill. ANOTHER LIE! I later found out from my insurance that my adjuster never said that and he would still not be paying on the full amount because it was outrageous compared to what it should be. John admitted to me on the phone how they hide extra charges into the cost of a fan or else insurance wouldn't pay them, which is what makes it look expensive to insurance, yet they won't be honest with the insurance companies about what costs they are hiding hoping insurance will just pay it. But then when insurance doesn't pay it because to them it looks like they are charging 4x industry standards for the cost of a fan it just bites the homeowner instead! In the end, I requested a refund from Rainy Day the difference and John brushed me off telling me to hire a public adjuster to continue to fight my insurance. He offered to pay up to $500 for their fee, but we would still likely pay much more than that because of the size of our claim as a whole and we don't want to risk losing even more money when insurance will most likely still say no. This whole thing could have been avoided if we chose a company that went through insurance, learn from our mistake! I have many many more grievances with the way this company took advantage of us and hurt us not just financially, but emotionally and mentally as well, but my point is DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Also, these good reviews are padded with people they know or who have worked for them. The review with the dishwasher leak and pictures is the owners own kitchen, and he didn't even pay a dime for it because he told me his business ate the cost of his repairs. Since I am a renter, the decision making on replacing this 15+ year old unit is not up to me. He was honest and upfront. I know this because I have owned multiple old homes and understand how often installations have been poorly done. This is one of them. Tim stated he could provide the owner with a temporary fix by adding freon. However, long term, replacement of the unit would need to be done since the coils were leaking freon. The particular freon used in this unit is no longer allowed by the government and will be completely fazed out within the next 2 years. He re-taped all the original areas as a temporary fix to slow some of the leaking air. All of this is just a huge band-aid. I don't do well when it's hot inside the sanctuary I call home. Was really glad how fast ACS was able to respond and place a band-aid on the air flow issue. The house is a bit cooler, however, I don't think it will last for very long in this Texas heat. Since this is also a combo unit. I hope it will fire up come winter and keep us warm. If I own another home I will definitely use ACS to inspect and service our units.
