I spoke to what I believe was the owner or manager, and he was incredibly kind, enthusiastic, and reassuring. I explained our situation and asked if they could wait for us for an hour--even though it would be 30 minutes past their closing time. Without hesitation, he told me, "Don't worry, we got you. Once we got into the tow truck, I called again to confirm we were on our way, and he reassured me once more, telling us to drive safely and that they'd be waiting. I was coming bank from a retreat in Big Sur and due to road closures to the south had to swing around Monterrey and through Salinas. I took a short cut on Spreckles and had an unfortunate meeting with a pothole that blew out on my front tires. Bam - I was stuck on a side road. I looked in the local area for high rated Yelp reviewed tire companies. I found Cuevas Tires! They were incredibly helpful and saved me hours of time and money. They were able to send a tow truck in 25 minutes (triple A was going to take up to 90 minutes). They towed my car, quoted me a fair price for a great new tire and had me on my way home quickly. The folks there are wonderful and warm hearted. In todays world it's common place for folks to take advantage of others but they were the exact opposite. Apologetic for my previous experience, they popped my car back up and re-aligned it to perfection. Hector was kind and dedicated to customer satisfaction. I felt compelled to correct my review because I think my multiple interactions put into perspective a problem that does not seem to reflect this company's business ethics. But, also, GO TO THE SANBORN LOCATION. ---------------------- Previous Review: I was grateful that Lalo caught that I did not need to replace a tire sensor. I left thinking that the drive to Salinas was well worth the service and care, as well as the staff was working honestly at reasonable prices. However, after I got home and reviewed the paperwork on my alignment (that I paid an extra $60 for) it turns out that one area was worse than before alignment -- and out of safe range. I waited all weekend, returning to Cuevas on Monday morning when I knew they would be less busy. There were no cars in the bays so I asked the technician if he could take another look and readjust the red warning areas. He told me the technicians who worked on my car would not be in today but the problem was clearly my axle. I explained that I have owned this car its whole life, never gotten into an accident, and this is the first time I have ever heard this. He was adamant about his theory, without even inspecting the vehicle, and argued with me for ten minutes. I recently had low tire pressure on one wheel and less than a week before I took it to the dealership for a service and 12 point inspection and tire rotation. I doubt they checked my tires at all. The tire pressure dropped (which happened before the service) and my coworker told me Cuevas tires. I brought my car in during lunch, no appointment needed, and they were able to diagnose the problem (nail in the tire) and fix it in less than 20 minutes for only $20. This place was good until it wasn't, i first took my car here to get a used tire because my tire blew out while i waited for my new set of michelins to come the main guy lalo was pretty rude because his card machine wasn't working on the first few attempts and the tow came late with my car while they were trying to close, but i was understanding, so a week later my new set came in and i transported everything over in my car, my cars upkeep was very good, after they were done with my car everything seemed fine, until it wasn't, they didn't do a wheel alignment which ruined one of my brake rotors, this cost me over $500 in damages, specifically new rotors and a wheel alignment, my loss, it sucks because i trusted them a lot read more

Highly recommend this place!! While on our road trip, we hit a curb pulling into a gas station in Soledad and popped the outer wall of our tire. We pulled into two nearby tire shops and both were closed. We wanted to determine if it was safe to drive on, so I called Cuevas Tires, who had very high reviews, even though they were another 25 miles up the road. They told us that, if we want to feel safest there were a few towns before Salinas (where they were located), where we could also find some tire shops, so I recognized they weren't just in it for the business. We decided to just take it really slow and make our way to them. As soon as we got there, they ushered us right in to talk with Lalo and then Gustavo. They were both so great! They gave us a very fair price for 2 new front tires and we were honestly in and out in 35 minutes! Very impressed and again highly recommend! read more

Wow, well so once was a happy customer of Cuevas... until today when we had to unexpectedly remove a tire from my car and found that my nice lugnuts had been changed out for some cheap crap ass covers and my tool doesn't fit whatever crappy nut Cuevas put on (and yes, I'm positive it was Cuevas who STOLE my good lugnuts and replaced them with CRAP). My husband took my car to work and woke up to a flat and nails in the rear tire as well. Clearly driving on the edge of the road. I drove to Salinas and met AAA , who sent me here as they were about a mile from where the car was. I rolled into this battered looking row of metal huts surrounded by a ton of cars.I had not even turned my car off when a worker approached me and asked what I needed. Since two tires were damaged and I had over 50 k miles in the set I asked for four new tires. He didn't try and upsell me on anything fancy and in fact just grabbed the keys and took my car into the shop at 3:06 pm on a Saturday. The waiting area is a couple plastic chairs behind a pile of tires. At 3:52 pm I had four new tires and was on my way for $440 total! These guys were doing all kinds of tires from my mom mobile, the dude with the mini van to tractor tires and truck tires. They were almost running as they were moving so fast. Do I think I bought 50k mike tires, nope. 25k yes but for the money and service it would be hard to beat them. read more
