Bill is a seasoned…read moreprofessional who is highly skilled and knowledgeable about music recording and production. He is multi-talented as a musician and is creatively innovative with the ability to know exactly what a song needs to bring it to excellence. Best of all Bill is colaborative and easy to work with. As a novice I came to him with a dream project of making an album. His kind attention to detail, respectfull patience and sensitive ability to nurture emotion out of a song is a rare quality in the business. His studio is a welcoming and supportive environment that cannot help but create a product that is both high quality and heartfelt.

He's speedy and efficient, and really knows his way around any instrument. I'm truly amazed when we work together with his ingenuity. I tell him I need a certain instrument and bam, he pulls it up and knows how to use it to its best ability. He is also very reasonable with pricing, being $80 dollars an hour. I know it sounds like its a lot, but the amount of work that gets done in that hour is a lot. He's a built-in one man band, though he also has a lot room at his disposal in case you have a band, and can make a drum beat, play guitar, base, mandolin, and pretty much anythng else you need to complete your work. I'm truly happy with his work, and will continue to keep coming back to complete my album.

I recently recorded keyboard parts for an album with Scott Goodrich at the helm. I've worked with…read morea number of different engineers in various different types of studio settings, and Scott is definitely one of the best that I've worked with. He has a laid-back demeanor which really helped me get into the groove while I was recording. Of course, everyone has some jitters when first going into the studio, but Scott really helped me allay those feelings so that I could really focus on delivering a good performance. He moves quickly while delivering high-quality results, working with musicians on their mistakes. He patiently sat through me rehearsing, recording, and reinventing my parts with the rest of the band, providing constructive feedback throughout the whole process. He made all of the interactions feel casual while still producing a very tight recording at the end of the day. When the band unexpectedly decided to record on one of the studio's old pianos, Scott was up to the task, quickly cleaning off the instrument and setting up the mic so that I could record on it. His adaptability continued to impress me throughout the session. The studio itself has a wide array of equipment, with a solid mix of hardware and software to get the job done. It is spacious yet wastes no space on unnecessary items. This is not a space for musicians who want to spend a couple of hours relaxing by the pool after recording for 30 minutes; it's a space in which serious work happens. If you're looking to record, I highly recommend checking out Scott at Nu-Tone. I know that I will be back in the future to record more when the need arises, and will be recommending him and the studio to other bands that need professional-quality recordings.

Laid down vocals and 12-string guitar for a folky track. Danny B. the engineer I worked with was incredible - really flexible and meticulous with understanding my vision and making it happen. Did a three-mic setup for the guitar - and it sounds INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend for recording anything from simple folky acoustic all the way up to full band and everywhere in between. This place is straight up legit and captured my music in a way I'm not sure other studios could have. Again highly recommend working with Danny if you can. Prices are also pretty reasonable - will def be recording more here when I get the chance.

He's a fun and professional to collaborate with, and I'm beyond happy with how my song sounds as a finished product. I've been producing on Ableton for a few years, and I was specifically looking to work with someone in studio to learn and improve my mixes in general. I spent a few hours with Chris in his Oakland studio and learned so much during that time. It was one of the most informative sessions I've had since I started making music! Chris shared numerous different techniques and workflow tips with me while making suggestions and helping refine my track. It's clear that he's an expert in Ableton, but is also generous in sharing his knowledge. After our in-person session, we collaborated for another week or so via phone/e-mail through the mastering process. Throughout this process, he was thorough, patient, and gave invaluable feedback and recommendations - all while communicating effectively. Something I really appreciate about working with Chris is that he makes suggestions and gives honest feedback, but also makes sure that he respects the original vision for what the track should sound like. He makes suggestions but never pushes or makes it feel like you're straying or altering your original track. I look forward to working with Chris again! Highly recommend Mothership Studio.
