Great Italian food. The bread and dipping sauce is delicious. It takes a little time to get your food but it is well worth the wait.

This place is a hidden gem!…read more Located in a quiet residential neighborhood on a hill north of the railroad tracks, Jesse's Little Kitchen is a small takeout eatery and catering business offering pickup service at the front door. The food offerings include pizza, calzones, pasta dinners, sandwiches, subs, wraps, salads, quesadillas, and custom cakes. The prices are pretty reasonable. On a sunny afternoon, I happened to be in the neighborhood, so I decided to stop by to order lunch, parking on the street next to shrubs. I walk up to the front door area (pickup & pay-cash only), which had a table with a buzzer intercom and hand sanitizer for customers. It took a couple pushes of the buzzer, then I was helped. I ordered a Spinach Calzone ($9) with side of sauce (meat sauce I chose) and was told to come back in 30 minutes to pickup my order. As I was waiting outside near my vehicle, other customers were also stopping by briefly to place and pickup orders. As quoted, 30 minutes later, my calzone was ready and boxed to go. I took a short drive to the lake down the hill to enjoy my calzone. The calzone was thick and heavy filled with plenty of ricotta, mozzarella, and spinach filling in a firm fresh baked homemade pizza dough pouch, lightly browned outside. The meat sauce for dipping had a good zesty flavor. This is definitely one of the better calzones (with ricotta filling) I've had in New England and I believe I definitely made the right call stopping at Jesse's for takeout. Note: Cash only

If you haven't been to Papa Tirozzi's Italian Bakery in St. Johnsbury yet, stop what you're doing…read moreand go. Seriously. We drive over an hour--each way--on a busy Saturday morning just to get our hands on Tony's fresh donuts, bagels, and that perfect Friday night pizza. And it's worth every mile. Tony is one helluva chef. His baking skills? Impeccable. Whether it's a pastry or a pizza, everything is made fresh, with love, and you can taste it. His pizza is NEVER soggy, always hot, perfectly cooked, and topped with the freshest cheese. And the sauce... oh man, the sauce. I go in for lunch and order plain boneless wings just so I can dip them in Tony's red sauce instead of the usual dressings. That sauce is so good, I've been known to eat the leftovers with a spoon. It's rich and flavorful but never leaves you with that heavy, acidic regret some sauces do. It's just right. Now let's talk seafood. Yes, seafood. In Vermont. And it's some of the best I've ever had. Tony brings it in fresh, and when he's out, he's out--and I love that. It shows integrity. No "carryover specials," no shortcuts. Just honest, high-quality food made fresh and served with pride. The whole place is a gem. Anthony and Nancy are the kind of owners who care deeply about what they're serving and who they're serving it to. Donna's always there with a smile, helping out and keeping things moving. It feels like family when you walk through the door. If anyone says they're not awesome, I'd bet money it's a jealous competitor trying to figure out how to get a piece of the Tirozzis magic. Because let's be real--there's no faking what they do.

The Caesar, although over dressed, had lovely flavor and I liked the whites anchovies they chop in the dressing. Ambiance was what we expected. And now for the cons: we ordered the special of the night... the waitress said she loved these potato filled pasta, so we ordered. Along with the clams and pasta the mushroom horn pasta. The special, was 22 maybe $23. There were literally eight pasta purses on the plate. They were undercooked and while I enjoy flavor, the pasta was too undercooked and nothing hot, the clam dinner that my husband got was warmIsh. Although he ate it, it was quite heavy on the butter in the end. His was just warmer than tepid. Now onto the trumpet mushroom pasta that I ordered. One bite, pasta was undercooked! And the overall dish was too cold for me so I asked for them to heat it. I had eight pieces maybe nine pieces of pasta on my plate. It was a $26 dinner and she comes back and she says they're going to make me a fresh one and it'll be right out. After some 20 minutes go by, nothing...They brought out my to go order before my dinner. So I told them to keep it. As for the to go order, I ordered the pork Milanese. The pork looks lovely, but it was a to go order and they threw a very heavily dressed radicchio salad right on top in a box that was too small for the order and they handed it to me wide open and said here's your takeout order. I asked another waitress to get me another container so I could put the salad in that so we could at least close the two boxes. Lastly, no gloves are used when touching cooked food.... We will not go back...
