No, we drove over 2 hour for a good Italian cuisine! To our dismay, Kerry the waitress gave us the worst in my life service! It was so bad that after 45 minutes, plates piling up, as we receive the hot and cold food at the same time. It was not busy at all, only 2 tables including us were filled. We asked why and she said, eat the hot food first and next eat the salad last. After we finished the hot food, the plates lined up. Kerry did not cared as she was busy socializing about 45 min with a couple across from us. I personally took the empty plates to the kitchen. Kerry and her friends saw that. We never got an apology from her. Very disappointed and we will never go back to that establishment! We paid the bill and gave her 15% tip, in which she did not deserved! read more

Just ordered delivery from here. Was given 3 Ceasar salads WITHOUT chicken (when I clearly ordered chicken). On top of that, asked for the dressing on the side (all came with dressing mixed in). The caesar dressing was GREY, GREY!!! Clumpy and gross. And for the icing on the cake, they gave us romaine lettuce. There is currently an outbreak of E. coli on romaine lettuce and they should not be selling it. When I called back, they denied that it was romaine, and put me on hold for 15 minutes. I finally asked for a refund and they only gave me a refund for the salads, not the rest of my meal. Poor customer service, poor food quality. 10/10 WOULD NOT recommend. Unless of course you want to be sitting on the toilet for the next 10 days straight. read more

After seeing my cousin order from Cucina on several occasions I finally decided to give it a shot. I ordered a pizza, penne vodka, and some rice balls. My cousin had mentioned they can be a bit pricey, but I was still taken aback when I heard the total price for the order. Delivery took a bit longer than expected, almost to the point when I considered calling to make sure they had the correct address, or had not forgotten my order. The food was still warm and the order was complete which was a plus. I was a bit upset when I discovered they had placed grilled chicken in the penne vodka when I had specified fried chicken cutlet. The pasta was also loaded with a ton of oil. Taste wise it was not bad, nothing special, but was flavorful and had a good texture (besides all the oil). The pizza was good, about what I expected. No award winner, but a decent pie. The best part of the order was the rice balls. Definitely some of the best I have ever eaten. All and all, not the best experience, but also not the worst. This place singlehandedly ruined Mother's Day for me and my family. We made reservations for 6:00pm. We showed up and stood at the front door for at least 10 minutes before a host even approached us. The restaurant was clearly busy, overbooked, and understaffed. While waiting at the front door, I watched and overheard no fewer than 4 different people complain to the wait staff, the host, and to the busser. At one point a member of a large party came up to us and told us that her party had been there since 3:00 pm and had just finally gotten their food. We were finally sat at 6:20 despite having had reservations. Once we sat, the host opened our bottle of wine, brought us ice...and then the waiting began. We sat without water, bread, or even a waitress acknowledging us for 15 minutes. Finally, we asked the host for some bread and water and a waitress. A few minutes later, the waitress showed up and took our entire order. We ordered rice balls and calamari to start, and 4 entrees. The place was flooded with takeout patrons waiting for their food and surrounding the dining area. After an hour of sitting at our table and watching patrons angrily storming out, we got our appetizers. We decided we had waited long enough, and asked the waitress to have the kitchen wrap our entrees instead of serving them to us (we thought this would be quicker, and decided that eating the rest of the meal at home would be better than continuing to wait for a simple water refill). At this point, the restaurant had mostly cleared out except for about 5 other tables. Nonetheless, neither our food nor our waitress was anywhere to be found. Takeout customers were waiting for 40 minutes at the counter, the host was sitting with his family, a young girl was handling the front counter and angry patrons by herself, all the while, there was never once a manager anywhere. After our waitress dropped our check off, we never saw her again. It's no wonder we overheard the staff talking about a table that walked out without paying. How could they? Nobody was around to pay!! At 7:45, I went to the counter and asked about our food. One of the waitresses said it was being wrapped right then. At 8:00pm, more than 2 hours after we arrived, we had still not received our food. We paid for the food we ate (the appetizers) and told the counter girl to cancel the rest of our order. The only response we received was an apology from the waitress. The place was basically a circus being run by a bunch of kids. I didn't see any adults or managers at any point (with the exception of one older waitress). The fact that we had such a terrible experience and didn't even have a manager to complain to is a joke. The owner clearly doesn't care to properly staff the restaurant. I personally worked in the restaurant business for 15 years as a waitress and bartender, and I was appalled by what I saw tonight. It's unfortunate that I won't be returning here because the food is great, but the low quality of service and inexplicably slow wait time is unacceptable. Not having a competent adult running the place was just the icing on the cake. I used to come here often on weeknights and always wondered why the restaurant was so dead. Now I know why. All we wanted was a nice Mother's Day dinner, but instead had to leave hungry after 2 hours of waiting and ended up ordering a pizza from a nearby pizzeria. I've been visiting Cucina for about a year now. It started off great- great food, pizza- Gencarelli salad is one of my go-to orders along with the chicken arrabiata- but lately things seem to be slipping. We've had multiple botched delivery orders where items are missing or the food is just "okay". We dined in in person a few months ago, ordered some apps, pizza and dinner for the table....we waited so long for the dinners that we ultimately canceled them. I mean, we were easily there over and hour, had placed our order within ten minutes of sitting down and never got the main course (or any kind of discount for the crazy wait). Another time when we visited the Gencarelli (which is typically a pretty large serving) came to the table at the same price but seemingly half the quantity. Food was just okay that time as well. We may continue to try with them because it used to be so great, but I wouldn't give them as enthusiastic of a recommendation as I would have a year ago. read more

Cucina is conveniently on grubhub so although we've never visited the restaurant itself, sometimes you just can't beat convenience when you're looking to stay in after a long week. Our food arrived a bit later than estimated but only about an hour wait over all. It was also a Friday so we were okay with it. We quickly forgot the length of time we waited once we started eating. I never write reviews on here but after eating my meal just now I had to. The place is really nice inside. Everyone was friendly. I'm sure they have some good food on the menu but I'm only reviewing what I just ate. I ordered some pepperoni slices, plain slices, and mini rice balls to go. The plain slice and pepperoni slice were extremely disappointing. They literally tasted like nothing. If I took a bite of pizza and then a bite of the pizza box it came in I would not be able to tell the difference. The rice balls were just ok. They give you vodka suave to dip the rice balls in which gave them some kind of flavor. Our only complaint was overly bright lights. They had cool lighting, Edison bulbs in retro/industrial fixtures but the high hats were on full-force and should be used on the pizza side of the restaurant not the dining side of the restaurant We did not order gluten-free pasta but the table next to us said the gluten-free pasta was great! We drive by on Friday nights and the place is empty now so I know we aren't the only ones who think this. The pizza sauce is gross, the dough is raw, and the cheese is super greasy. Place just recently opened in Nutley with positive reviews, so we decided to experience authentic Italian meal ourselves. Place is packed even on slow weekdays. Which was a good sign. Ambience is nice, decor is modern and simple. Food is delicious. Lobster ravioli were perfect. Rice balls yummy. Service was excellent. Had a Free Pizza Coupon that came with a mailer from moving to Nutley so I went and got it today and added Meatball and onions. Fantastic Pie seemed to be oversized, I'm guessing 18" and the toppings were extremely generous. The sauce was out of this world. Possibly some of the best pizza sauce I've had in 30 years. Quality cheese and the crust was very tasty. Definitely my new Pizza Joint. Well done guys Had a surprise 40th Birthday thrown for me here. It couldn't have been better.
