We recently reserved a Penske truck using the Penske service online. The original reservation was made to be picked up at a Home Depot in Sugar Land. The reason for the rental was due to a death in the family, and we had to pack up an entire house full of belongings and furniture. With the reservation of the truck, we also rented a whole bunch of blankets to wrap furniture in for transport.
Thinking that it would be ok, I went to the Home Depot location where we were supposed to pick up the truck and asked if we could pick up the blankets a few days early so we could get all the furniture wrapped up and ready for transport. Even after hearing there was a death in the family, the woman working at the rental section smirked and replied with a firm NO.
I called Penske back that evening and changed the reservation to another location, which turned out to be CubeSmart Self Storage located at 1450 Hwy 6, Sugar Land, Texas. I understood that I might not be able to get the blankets before the truck, but I am not about to continue to do business with a company that treats people poorly....especially in a time of family crisis.
As a side note....there were probably 2000 furniture blankets piled up at the Home Depot. I wanted 48.
I dropped by the CubeSmart location the following day just so I would know where it was since I am only in town for the move and not at all familiar with the area. I made contact with the gentleman that runs that location.....and my apologies for not remembering his name. I figured I would ask about blankets since I was there.
The guy that manages the location bent over backwards to help me. He seemed more than happy to accommodate our needs and allowed us to pick up our furniture blankets a few days early. AND...he couldn't have been more polite and helpful.
I was extremely impressed with this gentleman and how he runs his business. If I lived in Sugar Land and needed a storage area, truck rental, etc (they even do climate controlled wine storage).....I would use this company in a heartbeat. In a world where customer service is almost a thing of the past....it is very refreshing to find someone who still does business with people in mind.
Again....I wish I remembered this guy's name, but many thanks! read more
