Do not use this company. It is really a salesman who subcontracts out the work. During our move, he disappeared saying he was at a conference with no cell phone reception. Really? Movers showed up unprepared. We had wood floors which main guy saw when he toured our house before move. The movers showed up and said they had no moving floor protections. After one of the movers scratched the wood floor with his unprotected dolly, I told them to stop the move. All of a sudden, they went to their truck and found some floor protection. Really? Movers worked hard but they seemed they just wanted to get the job done and get their check. You can find many other better options. I'm still looking for some of the items that were supposed to be moved. Yelp disappointed me on this one. read more

Nobody enjoys moving and I've moved over twenty times and it has never taken less than 3 hours - But more importantly my belongings are in the same pristine state and my back feels great. This was such a wonderful service for my husband and I and for all 3 moves on 3 different dates. This service moved my husband out of his condo into a storage unit then moved him out of the storage unit into our new home and then moved me out of my house and into our new home. We requested the same crew and they always did a wonderful job. Nothing was broken, nothing was missing. And everyone was safe wearing mask. I inquired about a quote online, at night. I received a response immediately. During a follow up conversation, AFA movers listened to my needs and clarified what was requested! Move day, an ETA call was delivered, and the crew was on time, actually 10 min early. Shows me that they left time for traffic. The crew was polite and professional! Price: I've used movers many times. Basically, prices are fairly similar in the industry, with maybe $15-$20. With this small variation, consider how important peace of mind is. I cannot recommend AFA Movers. They sent 3 movers. As they were moving my items from the apartment to their truck, two of them noticed some of the items in which I had. They stated, "You have some cool stuff." I replied, "thank you!" They then moved all the items from their truck and into my new apartment and I tipped them each individually. When I finally unpacked, I noticed a box and some shelves were missing. When I inquired about them, they said they couldn't find the box. They never did. The shelves were found but still no attempt on them to send or drop off the shelves. It has been 4 months since my move. I am still without the box and shelves. I cannot recommend them because of the experience afterwards as some items might go missing. They have lost business because of my experience as I often recommend to people movers and other services when new coworkers and friends move into town. I can never recommend AFA Movers. Lastly, none of them wore masks. I just kept my distance. read more

Bad experience. Scheduled the move for the morning of Memorial Day. No emails or texts from the company after scheduling. I called the owner to confirm that he had received our response to his proposal.On the morning of the move just texted owner to confirm. No response. Did not call back or text till the 11th hr when he said that he will check with his crew as to why they had not reached. Then someone from the crew calls to tell us that the truck had a leak and equipment got spoilt due to rain and will take them 2-3 hrs more to arrange another one. We had other vendors coming to the new place during the rest of the day so had to cancel and arrange for another moving company since we could not trust these guys. Not reliable at all!! read more

AFA movers sent 3 VERY young men to my home. Their pants hanging off their butts, no masks in the middle of a pandemic and they spent more time talking than moving. it took the 10+ hours to move a 3 bedroom house and STILL LEFT SO MUCH STUFF THAT I HAVE TO RENT ANOTHER TRUCK TODAY. It is by far THE most horrific experience I've ever had. This move should have taken 6 to 7 hours and I should have all my stuff. I would never recommend this company. It was so bad, 2 additional men had to be sent at 730pm to try and get it completed. They had to be told to put furniture together that they had taken apart and to focus to complete the work. The following actions are what I witnessed while the movers where conducting business at my friends residence. If I am subpoenaed and required to provide testimony as to what I witnessed, I am more than happy to do so. In my honest opinion, with the exception of the "older" (Kevin?) employee, the entire workforce were nothing more than untrained high school kids working to make beer money. * One employee (wearing camouflage shorts) was either texting or talking on his cell phone roughly eight out of ten times that I saw him when he was at work. Those times that I saw him using the phone, he was not performing any other work tasks. * Two employees were utilizing a material handling dolly to move a gun safe from the house to the truck, when they where out of the house and on the sidewalk, one employee went to the truck leaving the other employee alone. The employee that was alone, continued to move the safe by himself but the gun safe was much too heavy for one person. As the employee tried to continue moving the gun safe, the employee lost control of the dolly and safe causing the safe to fall onto the concrete sidewalk withe enough force to lift the employee from his feet and enough force that I could feel the impact from about ten feet away. I informed Kevin of what I witnessed he told me that no one was supposed to move the safe unless he was present to supervise the task. * As the employees where moving the larger items from the second floor (furniture, beds, head boards, foot boards.....) they let several of those items come in contact with several opposing walls therefore causing visible markings on the paint and gouging of the sheetrock. The gouging in the Sheetrock was approximately 1/4" deep in approximately five or eight different locations. The damage to the walls was significant enough that employee that claimed to be in charge told me, Stephanie, Shelly and Mark that he was sorry and that he would "make it right even if he had to come back and make the repairs himself " * One of the employees was drinking a green labeled Monster energy drink and he sat the drink down on the carpet in the second floor master bedroom. A different employee did not see the drink and when he was moving a clothing he bumped the drink knocking it over and spilling the remaining contents on/in to the carpeting. The employee that spilled the drink did not notice what had taken place. * As the employees were moving items from the second floor, they were staging those items in the living room that is located on the first floor, as they were moving items from the living room to the truck (including the gun safe) the employees gouged and scratched the hallway hardwood flooring in many places, the worst of the floor damage was located at the landing area of the stairs. * An employee was face timing with his company representative showing the representative all of the items that they had "prepared/packaged" for the move. The employee showed the representative the clothing that came out of two second floor walk in closets insinuating that the moving crew had packaged and moved the clothing themselves and the truth is that me, Stephanie and Mark are the ones that performed that task. * This statement is my own personal experience with utilizing professional moving companies and could be used as a measuring stick for performance. I have hired a professional moving company to move my possessions from one home to another four times within a twelve month period. Three of the moving events there were only two moving employees and one of the moving events there were three moving employees. During my four moving events I had ZERO damages. Here is a description of some of my items that were moved (down one flight of stairs) via the two man crew. One 4ft x 8ft LED shadow box mirror weighing around 1000lbs, one 4ft x 8ft beveled and ornately framed mirror weighing about 400lbs, one commercial grade Maytag refrigerator 4ft x 6ft weighing about 1000lbs and many more items that are out of the normal moving events. First off the person on the phone was very pleasant to talk to and accommodated my last minute request to move the same day. (It was a Sunday). I knew absolutely nothing about AFA when I hired them but I was impressed from the beginning to the end. Setting up the date and time was easy and they were very accommodating. They gave me a one-hour time range and showed up right on time at the beginning of the range. Bobby and Kevin were the movers and they could not have been nicer and more helpful. They even helped me put things in my car that I wanted to personally move. They worked hard and quickly. They were very careful with furniture and boxes. The day before our move we had to quickly find a moving company. They responded to our inquiry within an hour and were able to help us. The day of the move, the crew was early and ready to work. They started working right away and wrapped all our furniture. They didn't take breaks and really worked fast moving our furniture from our third floor apartment. I like to be fair. We looked into "Angie's List" before calling this company. My college child was moving out of a one bedroom apts & we wanted to teach her the responsibility of paying for her own move. I spoke to AFA's manager Ali and told him, she was moving 1 block away from a small 1 bedroom apartment and he quote a rate of $259 for 2 hours. I told him what she was moving and he stated it should not take longer than 2 hours, if not less. Items were a full sized bed, dressser, night stand, small round table & 4 chairs, couch, chair, ottoman 2 small TV's and 10 small boxes. The mover's were 45 minutes late but began charging from the time the called to say they were running late. At the 2 hour mark they had not moved not one item, it felt like they were moving slowing and disappointing for 2 hour mark to expire. I called Mr. Ali at that point because I felt there was no supervision or communication and a simple moved was being unnecessarily prolonged. Mr. Ali said he would talk to the team and get back to be st the end of the moved. This never happen and my daughter ended up with a bill of $629.00 to moved a 600 sq feet apartment 1 block away. read more
