Sadly, they were recently bought out by something called MyPlace Storage--the service is nonexistent; not open when they say they are; secure entry gate is broken and remains open; the garage door where you unload and load your belongings is broken and remains up; and, worse, the doors to the hallways leading to all the climate-controlled units are open to anyone and everyone. I will be looking for another storage facility now that Award has left the building ... Not recommended.

This storage facility was perfect for what I needed for a few months. I rented a climate controlled unit that included storing my cozy couch! Once I removed my things out of the unit, the items were exactly the same. If you rent a climate controlled unit -- you can only go into your storage unit during their business hours. Award Self Storage offers: a truck to move-in (did not use), along with several boxes and 2nd month rent for FREE! The facility sells boxes and such for typical moving needs. They also have carts inside the storage building to assist with moving items. Overall, this establishment did it's job and I had no issues while there. Also, the staff are nice and helpful when needed. Award Self Storage is 20 mins from Philadelphia which was a major plus!

Things are not going great right now - hence most of my life going into a storage unit. Chris was so kind and thoughtful. He has been really communicative while I was coordinating getting everything in, and he made the whole thing fun and easy. I'm super happy to be using this location and grateful that someone as awesome as Chris working there. The cost is good too, and I got a month free!

The day of my "big" move (most of my items) he came out to greet us, he welcomed the movers and asked if they needed any water or a restroom. He welcomed my mother into the office, gave her water and a chair to sit and wait for the movers to finish. The facility is clean and secure. I love the app that you can use to access the gate (in case you lose your code). The paved areas around the unit buildings are clean and free of debris. Since renting I have always been able to find a flatbed cart for use if I need one--the company keeps them parked just inside of doors for customer use. I would highly recommend for safe and secure storage. Lighting inside buildings is great. When I go alone I feel safe. Thanks Chris!! See you again soon!! Amy

Clean Facility, but pricing and payment could be improved…read more Took over a temperature controlled storage unit. Facilities were clean, relatively easy to access, and maintained. I was only there for a bit over a year, and they raised prices quite a few times CSS was raising the price nearly every month for the last two-three months that I rented the unit. Understandably prices fluctuate and may raise over time, however raising rents multiple months in a row is frustrating, especially for a place where you are just storing items. The payment processing system is archaic. While conveniently allowing you to pay online, it doesn't allow you to pay a partial, or update auto-pay information if you want to use a different or new card.

I wrote a prior review that was positive about this facility. That review turned out to be…read moreincorrect due to misrepresentations by the facility management. I signed up for a unit for $33.00 per month in November. There was no disclosure that this was an introductory, limited time, or teaser rate. Extra Space sent a notice doubling the per-month charge in February. Did they increase the rate by 5% - no, 10% - no, 20% - no, 50% - no. They increased it 100%!!! On February 9th, I called Ryan at the phone number listed on the rate increase notice to discuss the rate change. He said that he would look into the rate change. He called me on February 12th when he told me that the rate would remain $33. Based on this conversation, I wrote my earlier review. Guess what - in March, I received a notice increasing the rate by over 71%! I called, questioned the rate increase, and told them about my February conversations with Ryan. The representative first denied that they employed someone named Ryan. In mid-April, a 3/5/26 Yelp review by Monica G. mentioned Ryan's name and referred to him as the manager. Yet Extra Space did not know who Ryan was?) After I told her what I discussed with Ryan, she then said she would have to review them and call me back. She did not. I received a call from a different Extra Space representative. He was abrupt and said the new rate was the new rate. He said to check the local rates. So, in April 2026, I checked this company's website for local rates. The Extra Space Storage location is currently offering the same size unit, with the same features, climate-controlled, elevator access, for $26.00 per month for four months. Nothing on their website indicates that the $26.00 monthly rate is an introductory, limited time, or teaser rate. In my opinion, the way this business treats its customers is abhorrent. When you rent the unit, you must pay an administrative fee of $29.00. You cannot use a padlock on their rental units; instead, you have to buy their lock for $19.95. You then invest your time in putting your goods into the rental unit. After investing both your money and your time, you see a significant rate increase! It reeks of bait-and-switch tactics.
