Very disappointed with our moving experience with this company. Our final invoice was triple the amount of our original quote. Through no fault of our own - nothing changed on our end from what the move involved; no items were added. Owner offered to move the date up to avoid bad weather, which was appreciated. However, our initial estimate was for 3 hours with a crew of 5. Instead the move consisted of half the crew, and it took about 14 hours across 2 days. My husband had to essentially join the crew just to get through the move. It feels as if a much lower quote was given to secure the job, and we can't help but feel swindled. It's unfortunate because we were hoping to go with the same company for our final move in 6 months, and now that is absolutely not an option. I can understand an estimate being off by a few hours or a few hundred dollars, but for the cost to triple is unacceptable. The move itself was decent enough, just expect it to take 3 times as long, and cost 3 times as much as your initial quote.

I signed up for a unit for $33.00 per month in November. There was no disclosure that this was an introductory, limited time, or teaser rate. Extra Space sent a notice doubling the per-month charge in February. Did they increase the rate by 5% - no, 10% - no, 20% - no, 50% - no. They increased it 100%!!! On February 9th, I called Ryan at the phone number listed on the rate increase notice to discuss the rate change. He said that he would look into the rate change. He called me on February 12th when he told me that the rate would remain $33. Based on this conversation, I wrote my earlier review. Guess what - in March, I received a notice increasing the rate by over 71%! I called, questioned the rate increase, and told them about my February conversations with Ryan. The representative first denied that they employed someone named Ryan. In mid-April, a 3/5/26 Yelp review by Monica G. mentioned Ryan's name and referred to him as the manager. Yet Extra Space did not know who Ryan was?) After I told her what I discussed with Ryan, she then said she would have to review them and call me back. She did not. I received a call from a different Extra Space representative. He was abrupt and said the new rate was the new rate. He said to check the local rates. So, in April 2026, I checked this company's website for local rates. The Extra Space Storage location is currently offering the same size unit, with the same features, climate-controlled, elevator access, for $26.00 per month for four months. Nothing on their website indicates that the $26.00 monthly rate is an introductory, limited time, or teaser rate. In my opinion, the way this business treats its customers is abhorrent. When you rent the unit, you must pay an administrative fee of $29.00. You cannot use a padlock on their rental units; instead, you have to buy their lock for $19.95. You then invest your time in putting your goods into the rental unit. After investing both your money and your time, you see a significant rate increase! It reeks of bait-and-switch tactics.

There is a 2.5 hour minimum which seemed to be the standard as well as a mileage fee. Lanre and I discussed my move multiple times to plan accordingly. He was available to me by email, text and phone which was great. The two men who showed up, Jimmy and Marso, were very professional. They wrapped items like my sofa and lamps very well and they kept up a rigorous pace. My only concern was how my storage unit was packed. I pretty much stood aside and let them do their thing but when I returned the next day I saw that the sofa was laid horizontal taking up considerable space when there was plenty of height for it to stand on its side and one of my lampshades was broken.

THE WORST MOVING COMPANY I don't even know where to start; the list is so long of how…read moreunprofessional & lacking basic knowledge of moving industry standards. I'll just start. 1) Confirmed for a big 2 day move, to start around 9am Saturday. Never contacted us on Friday to confirm the start time. We had to contact Lanre on Fri night & were only informed then, that the crew would not be arriving until 10:30-11am. Which they did not; finally arr at 12. 2)Lanre assured me during his estimate, that he would deliver wardrobe boxesone on Fri. I asked for 5. No boxes on Fri. Trucks arrive on Sat AM & I ask for the wardrobe boxes. No wardrobe boxes are assembled, & he only brought 3 small boxes, not the standard, taller boxes that professional movers always have on hand in the truck. After an hour, the boxes were finally assembled, by my son & I. Hi Because he only brought 3, we were unable to easily move all of our clothing, which wasted time. 3)Lanre's crew finally showed up at noon. Immediately I could tell we did not have an experienced crew. 2 guys were totally inexperienced kids, who had never worked on a big move. One gentleman had special needs; although he was very sweet, I was concerned he would slip on our front steps and/or drop boxes or furniture. The driver & one mover kind of knew what they were doing, but Lanre was the only supervisor & he was busy babysitting the other 3 guys who mostly stood around,watching Lanre & his one competent worker. So when On Demand says they only have movers with 3+ years experience, they are lying. 4) the movers caused multiple marks, chips and scratches on the walls and floors (see pictures). 5) crew was extremely slow! I've moved a huge household from LA to Miami & from Miami to Philadelphia, plus at least half a dozen local moves. I know how quickly & efficiently good movers work. These guys are neither. It took them 1.25 days to pack our belongings. The exact same belongings that took previous mover 1 day 2 pack/load. 6) crew left soda cans & water bottles all over, inside the house & outside. left cigarette butts all over the driveway. 7) day 2- again, no communication about when the crew would be starting, but we assumed it be by 10am. After MULTIPLE texts & calls Sunday morning, Lanre finally texted back with nonsense about his phone service not working. 8) As if that wasn't bad enough, he Then proceeded to me that his crew would not be arriving until 2 o'clock PM!!! I told him right away that was completely unacceptable. he needed to get guys over way before that time. The had finished at 8:30 the previous night. A 9:00 am start time gave the crew a 12 hour turnaround- totally enough rest to start work at a reasonable hour! Lanre said his guys told him "they were too tired to start earlier." smh!! In my industry, those guys would find themselves unemployed. 9) when the driver came 2 move truck to the new house (which, mind you, should have been dropped there the previous evening, so there wouldn't be any wait time for the crew while the truck was moved, right?) the truck wouldn't start. 10) one of the guys on Day 2 reeked of alcohol & was either drinking on the job or just prior to starting work. 11) despite every single box and piece of furniture being CLEARLY labeled, items were placed in the wrong rooms . Items that we specially marked to not be loaded on the truck, ended up at the new house. (photos) 12) Throughout this complete disaster, Lanre keeps telling me he will make things right, which I assume means we will negotiate a discount/credit for the costs to repair, paint & clean damage made by On Demand, to make up for my time spent supervising the movers, when I should have been packing up the last items for the move, & for the major inconvenience that Lanre & his crew caused due to inexperience & incompetence. I even have a specific discussion with him at the end of the move, that we will discuss the invoice b4 I pay balance, & how Lanre needs to go to his office & adjust the invoice b4 sending it to me. Guess the adjustment...Free furniture moving good for 6 months. can you imagine us using him again?

Instead today I get a letter that rent is DOUBLING because my rate is a "promotional rate". I re-read my contract and there is no mention of a promotional rate. But the letter also states this is due to "market forces". It was a promotional rate in the first paragraph but now it's market forces. So this is a bait and switch sorta business. Don't store here if you are picking it because it is cheaper than other locations, they are just trying to trick you into renting a space and then DOUBLE THE PRICE because all your stuff is inside and they figure you won't move it. Bad business practice right there.
