I was frantically looking for an immediate storage unit and I luckily came across this CubeSmart. I was considering another storage business right next door but I am SO glad that I chose CubeSmart instead. I don't really know what the deal is with the other managers but Cliff is absolutely fantastic. He is the sole reason I would ever utilize CubeSmart again. I had such a wonderful experience working with Cliff to find a good storage unit for me. He was patient and so kind. I will recommend CubeSmart and specifically Cliff to anyone that has any storage needs. read more

BEWARE! STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE! Talk about AWFUL Customer Service!!!!!! We had secured a moving truck here about a month ago and were told we could pick it up at 3p.m. and when we showed up the VERY RUDE lady named Zena informed us that they did not have a truck for us. No apology, no offering of any sort of solution to the problem. Nothing but ignorance and terrible customer service from this person. As we asked her for a solution to this HUGE problem her tone of voice got meaner and louder, which is TOTALLY unacceptable. Zena claimed that she had left us a voicemail the night before, which ofcourse we had no voicemails or missed calls period! After I told her to not speak to me in that tone or manner she finally started calling around as she complained that no one is open now. Like it was our fault that this was happening, just like they could hold our deposit for a month and still not have a truck available. I would suggest NOONE to ever use their storage units or truck rentals because apparently they could careless about Customer Service! read more

Chose this place in 2021 because of its location. Based on the staff's politeness, I tried to like it, I really did. But it's been one hassle after another, and some of that constitutes bait-and-switch. There are charges on the invoice that are never mentioned on the so-called "rental agreement" which we are required to sign up front (I still have mine, and put them side by side to check). You'd better keep a copy of yours too, because staff are perpetually confused about how much they are actually trying to charge you. You should watch all the charges like a hawk. Besides those charges, they also require mandatory insurance which is not mentioned in the ads. The outdoor parking spaces are nowhere near as large as advertised. Some are up to 10 feet shorter than advertised. Some are much narrower than others too. Also the space for maneuvering in and out of those is greatly overstated. If a long rig pulls in to either side of you, you could be trapped in there without enough room to get out at all. The staff tries to work around all of those inadequacies by pressuring customers to park with their vehicle overhanging far over the curb, which is not always practical, it can damage some rigs. There are trees hanging way over the fence in the parking area so each time you do swing your rig in or out, you scratch it up, and risk damaging your expensive air conditioners. If the postal service takes a little too long to carry your check from your bank to the storage place, they'll suspend your gate code, locking you out, and charge you a significant late fee. But if that happens, don't despair, just wait. One or more times per month the gates will malfunction and leave your rig open to the public until someone gets around to repairing them. That happened again June 21, 2021. So if you park a trailer there, be sure to use a good quality tongue lock and a wheel boot, or someone will be easily driving away with your trailer. Also each parking space has at least two different ant colonies underneath it. Those ants will repeatedly invade your rig. UPDATE: Kudos to the corporate staff for promptly reaching out when they saw a bad review. But at this time I'll politely decline to deal with them, for these reasons: Most of the problems come from how the business is run, and are nothing at all to do with my account. Therefore nothing good can come from having them touch my account. I'm actually afraid of what might happen to my account if they touch it any further. Those problems were there before I came to the place, and they'll be there long after I'm gone, unless this business cleans up its act. Nothing about my account is going to change that. read more

Too bad cliff isn't there anymore. He was friendly & helpful. Don't expect that now. We were moving out and The new manager, Mary, was not friendly or helpful or Accommodating. She came to check our unit When we were out, and just turned and walked away. Didn't say thank You, or anything at all! I'm glad we left there, I found out it was more expensive than other nicer places. I do not recommend, based on the lack of pleasant customer service at that location. read more

I had a great experience at CubeSmart. We have had a storage unit for 7 years and decided it was time to unload stored items. I rented a truck to move stored items to my house. Pam went above and beyond in making our experience fantastic. How often does anything good come from moving furniture? Pam made our day. We rented a parking space at Cube Smart West Hillsboro Boulevard, Deerfield, Florida, for a short-term parking. Great place to park, easy access, secure and great service. Shelly, the manager definitely loves her job, she was very helpful, and explained all aspects of the contact very clearly. read more

I would highly recommend not renting from this storage facility. The management (Zena) is awful. When we first moved our stuff in on 5/29 we found a one month FREE internet special. At first Zena, the manager, was unwilling to honor this price because we came into the facility and I didn't sign up for the special on the internet. Only after a much heated debate and a call to corporate did she finally agree to honor the price...not cool...that should have been our first sign. We rented for a month and were planning on moving out on 7/31. We were informed by the management staff that if we move out by the 1st of the month we would not be charged for another full month's rent. This was a complete lie! They charged us another full month's rent and were unwilling to prorate any of the charges when we moved out on 7/31. Basically they were trying to scam us for a full months rent. Now I have to deal with corporate to get this issue resolved. What a pain! Trust me you don't need the aggravation with these people. Plus, a 5x10 unit is way overpriced at $185. There are much better deals within the area at a cheaper rate. Thanks. read more

Scam/hidden fees. Both CubeSmart and a firm that seems to have some business relationships with them, StorageDeluxe, both have an insurance scam. a) They do NOT mention in their advertising that they want an insurance fee. b) When customers show up, suddenly, they're hit with this hidden fee. NOTE: The insurance fee is not MANDATED by local or state laws, it's purely a way for both Storage Deluxe and CubeSmart to generate ilicit profits off the backs of unsuspecting, often socio-economically challenged, customers. Interestingly, if the firm was not so greedy, they actually could have a very credible business model and business. But greed seems to invade the logic of many business owners. read more

The mundelein cube smart is run by a great guy, manager, Cliff Powell. I would advise going there, even though its a little further out, rather than go to the Kildeer Cube smart. The manager , Jen, is a total moron who is unprofessional, clueless, very stupid and I'm sorry to say, but, very unattractive physically. You wonder how this person ever got hired at all. Nobody that rents here likes her and rumor has it that she does drugs, too. Also, at Kildeer Cube smart, one of the corporate managers, a short, sweaty fat slob named Skip is clueless as well. Finally, avoid the Kildeer Cube smart because several of the storage sheds actually leak when it rains. I've heard many complaints about that, as well.Bottom line is avoid Kildeer Cube smart and their asshole manager, Jen, and go rent from Cliff in Mundelein. read more

I think the bad reviews about this place are from constant complainers! You know what I mean if things are perfect they are still not good enough. My business partners rent a unit or 2 every so often and have never had a problem. In fact businesses in the area should go to the cube first. Facility is always clean and well kept and Zena is a professional when she is dealing with real people, Not constant complainers. Try the Cube you will like the experience. read more

I'm not sure if Cliff Powell still works here, but if he does, make sure you don't talk to him after hours here. He and his 70 year old brother, John Pendegrass, both live on site here and on his days off, Cliff often drinks and then hangs out on the property. Cliff talks about certain tenants there behind their back after he's had a few drinks and is very argumentative as well. If only people knew. read more
