Stopped by this hidden gem on the way to Garfield Park Conservatory. In the opinion of both a Puertorriqueño and Mexicano- this food is delicious (muy rico)! We tried the Cubanito Express Sandwich (loved the fried egg & juice factor), Empanadas (smaller portioned 'pastelillos' - de pollo, queso y jamon, guava y queso - excellent & will be back to eat these for breakfast one day, and picadillo - flavorful, crisp, so good), mariquitas con mojo (salty delights- yum!), papa rellena (heavenly), mamey shake and a cortadito (perfection). We also ordered PR rice. It's good- but we think it could use even more sofrito, sal and habichuelas or pigeon peas (but admittedly, we're extremely biased towards our Tita's way of doing this dish)! We loved the food here, and the hospitality of the family who prepared all of it so well. Yes, yes, yes- try this place out if you're a fan of PR, Cuban, or even Mexican cuisine! This is a great small place. Mostly Cuban-style sandwiches but the flavors are there for sure. Nothing fancy but you don't need fancy when the food is good. Not an easy place to find it but it is worth the effort. I had the Bistek palomino sandwich with a side of yuca frita. Just perfect. I took some of the guava and cheese empanadas home and my wife finished all haha. Best she ever had. I'll be back there soon. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. read more

I got the vegana bowl with chipotle mayo and garlic aoli sauces. It was sooooooo good. I love having vegan options when eating any type of cuisine. And it was a great portion for the price. Definitely recommend for vegan/vegetarian eaters. read more

I travel around the burbs for my job so I like to try places I normally dont go to. I found Cubanito express and had to try it. The food and service were fantastic. I had the steak sandwich a solid 4.5 could be a 5 star if it was a bit bigger. My coworkers had jibaritos de lechon and steak, which they inhaled( good sign ). The place is small as far as dinning in, just a bar like shelf with some really low stools, was a bit uncomfortable to eat, probably better just to stand and eat. Should be a 4.5 because of seating but food was excellent and you should definitely try this place if you're in the area. read more

Im so happy this place is near the berwyn area! Cuban food is well needed here tried cafe con leche it was not the best I've had, could have had less milk and more sweet flavor to it. Tasted too bland for a Cuban cafe con leche. Also ordered the noche buena which was super good! Settled my cravings and they gave us sauces to go with them. Tried this place the other day with my kids. We all loved it. We tried the traditional cubano sandwich, steak sandwich and guava bbq with pork. All were delicious. We also tried 4 different empanadas-chicken, lechon, ropa vieja, and picadillo.... perfection. Our favorite part of the meal were the mariquitas with garlic oil. I'm glad that we have such good Cuban food so close. This is a great place to stop and pick up a quick bite to eat and we will be back soon to enjoy again!! read more

I've ordered from this place a few times and it was ok, today was a first for dining in, amazing! Obviously getting your food fresh is best but I didn't expect this to be this good! The yuca frita was great, I would highly recommend (this is something I never order at other Cuban restaurants because I'm partial to yuca con mojo). Delicious food! I ordered a jibarito with lechon. It was perfect. It came with Swiss cheese and grilled onions as well as the usual things which elevated the sandwich. They also offer your choice of extra sauces-- a nice bonus. My husband enjoyed his guava Q, which consisted of a generous portion of roasted pork with lots of tasty goodies all topped with a guava bbq sauce. He also had yucca fries which were nicely seasoned. Service is friend and helpful, and we were pleasantly surprised by the outdoor patio space with tables and umbrellas. It faces Harlem, so noisy, but feels cozy and private because of clever fencing. We've loved Cubanito Express every time we've ordered delivery but our most recent visit was to the actual location. It's tiny, with only a few places to eat, but it was great for us. The Medianoche is always a must-have, and my husband got his go-to -- the ropa vieja. We ate here for the first time today. Walking up to the restaurant the outside is very clean, free parking is available and walking in the restaurant was spotless. The young lady behind the counter was very kind and pleasant. I've always wanted to try a Cubano sandwich. I ordered a Cubano, a chicken empanada, a ham and cheese empanada, fries and a coke. My SO ordered a veggie sandwich and a spinach empanada. Our food was ready quickly and we asked what the five sauces were that they gave us with the food. They patiently explained everything to us. The food was scrumptious! So many complementary flavors and textures in the Cubano, it was delicious! Both my empanadas were super good and my SO loved her food too.
