So far, so delicious! I've only ordered delivery (via UberEats), and the food is hearty and tasty and meets my craving for Cuban food (like rice and beans and tostones and marinated pork). Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. While it does have a NJ flair (I used to live in South Florida, so it's hard to beat Cuban food there), Cuban Eddie's has delicious, hearty food that fills me up and makes me happy. read more

Ordered delivery from there last weekend. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes. The prices, in my opinion, were very reasonable. The delivery time I'd say was average. Delicious classics perfect for take out! I love they allow you to buy the lunch portion at dinner time. It's not so pleasant to sit inside as a TV is always running, so take your food to go and enjoy it! There's really not much to say about Cuban Eddie's other than that it's the takeout solution in the Dumont/Bergenfield area. Unless you like (bad) pizza or totally greasy Chinese, that is. My family orders from Eddie usually about once per week. My personal favorite is the steak sandwich with cheese and the papa rellena. I actually prefer his papa rellena to the ones my grandmother made when I was growing up (she doesn't use Yelp, so I can get away with that statement). The rest of my family prefers his daily special meals, which are also good, but I'm just addicted to the steak sandwich. Sandwiches are very reasonably priced, though the meals are smaller than what you would get for the price, say in Union City or North Bergen. That being said, you can't compare the two markets. Dumont is an entirely different community, and as such, I'm sure his rent reflects that and in turn so do the prices. Delivery is also fast and reliable, something that keeps me happy. I'll continue to eat here as long as I live in the area. read more

Great Cuban food... the specials are great, and every Thursday there is Rabo (Oxtail!) I eat here for lunch a lot and the empanadas are great, but I usually come for the rice and beans. It is inexpensive and Eddie puts on some of the sauces/juices of the other entrees to liven it up. He makes everything pretty much from scratch, including their mojo and salsa. I also got the pernil for Christmas and it was a HUGE hit with my family. We're fairly new to the area and hadn't had much luck with the Spanish restaurants. They were so-so or just plain bad. But our luck has changed. Finally!!!! First of all the food arrived 30 minutes BEFORE scheduled. The food was hot and carefully packaged. The roast pork was to die for. Not greasy or dry. The oxtail was meaty, tender and delicious. Even the boiled yuca was seasoned. I was expecting just bland, boiled yuca so that was a very nice surprise. The rice, the beans and the stews were in their own separate containers, which we appreciated. No one likes soggy rice. The servings were plentiful. You can tell they cook with their heart at Cuban Eddie's. Overall, everyone was happy and satisfied. We can't wait to try the other items on the menu. read more

I really enjoy this place. They recently renovated & I'm so happy finally reopened! I recently had the media noche sandwich (it's a form of Cuban sandwich but on a potato bread) therefore should be nice & soft but they over pressed the bread making it crunchy (so I would definitely ask them not to in the future) other than that, it was amazing, meat soft, juicy & melts in your mouth. I also always get the platains & garlic sauce as appetizers...a must try their coffee & empanada of guava & cheese, it's a piece of heaven!!!! read more

They catered a work lunch, so I not 100% sure what was ordered. But I am 100% sure it was all delicious. The black bean & rice was perfect- great flavor to complement the meats. Came here about 30 mins ago...place is disgusting, didn't have a door knob to open the door. the last time i was here was years ago and since looking through yelp i decided to give this place another try. Wow legit cuban food so close to home? How can I not likey? They have that small deli feel like the rest of the small eateries in NJ, w/their lunch specials, but it's all real cuban food, at cheap prices love it. They don't play the "we're exotic food so we're going to charge u ridiculous prices" card I like their pernil (roast pork) w/moro rice (black beans n rice cooked together) Their Cuban chicken noodle soup is great too, not your average chicken soup, a must try if you've never had it cuban style. Don't forget to squeeze a little lemon in there too! I was never a fan of moro rice, but I do really like theirs, it's nice and flavorful. Their lunch specials are really cheap and come w/a can of soda. They also have little bites like stuffed potato balls and empanadas for $1 - $1.50. Their cuban sandwiches are delicious too, can't wait to try out the rest of their menu! Like most cuban restaurants I've been to they have daily specials. I ordered a side of yellow rice, it was delicious and the portion was very generous for only 2.50. I'm pretty surprised at some of the bad reviews I've read, however I can't speak for any of the meat at this place since I haven't had it/I don't eat meat. Worked near here years ago and had their food regularly. Rice and beans with roasted chicken to die for! Still the best!! Their pork, and garlic shrimps are very good too! However, the staff is not the same any more. I received a mail flyer for this place and decided to try take-out from their Fairlawn location for the first time. I almost never write restaurant reviews and I strongly believe in supporting local businesses, but my family and I had such a bad experience that I had to write this review. First, I didn't receive the chicharrones in my order, but I wasn't too broken up about it after I saw what they looked like as I picked up my order. They had a basket on the counter of handfuls of the grocery store chicharrones (the ones that look like puffed rice) that were repackaged in sandwich bags and priced for $3 each! The white bean soup we ordered, which had chunks of pork in it, was cold. Not just warm as though it cooled off on the ride home, but cold, like it was never even heated up - a major health hazard given that there is meat in it. We didn't miss out on much though, because once we heated and tasted it, it was so badly under seasoned, it was like hospital food. The spicy chicken empanadas tasted the same as the chicken empanadas, both of which were also sadly under seasoned. And finally, I ordered a Cuban Eddie's #2 salad, which is supposed to include roasted peppers, pineapple, and mozzarella. The mozzarella was the grocery store shredded mozzarella out of a bag, the roasted red peppers were about 12 itty bitty diced pieces with zero flavor, and there was no pineapple at all. Instead, they diced up dried apricots and sprinkled them on top. I almost went back and demanded a refund. I'm very familiar with Cuban food, and this was not it. I'm so sorry I wasted money here. I had a pick up order so I won't comment too much on service but the food was ready on time. It was packages nicely so everything made it home okay. About a week ago I was driving through Dumont for something and had a hankering for some Spanish food. So I pulled my yelp app out, typed in Spanish food near me and this was the first place that popped up. I live for Cuban food so it was on. I went inside and saw a hot buffet behind some glass and thought yum... I checked out their menu and noticed I was there in time to take advantage of the lunch specials still. I took notice to the others sitting in the restaurant and what they were eating. Out of 5 people 4 had the pernil (Spanish pork) so I decided to try that. For under $6 I had a huge portion! The pernil came with rice and beans and platanos maudoros. The dish seemed very fresh and was served hot. I sat down and dug in. The pernil was great, tender and juicy and just the right amount of seasoning, not too much salt, as a lot of places usually use. The rice and beans were delicious as well and the platanos, perfect. I was quite satisfied with my meal, so I grabbed one for my boyfriend to eat later. I also grabbed 2 cream cheese and guava empanadas which were also delicious. I'd give this place 3 1/2 stars, but as this is not an option, and since the place is great, albeit with conditions, I'll give it the benefit of the upgrade. The conditions are twofold, both having to do with the fact that this is primarily a lunch place. The first is that , by the time dinner arrives, they are out of a few things, and the second is, also by the time dinner arrives, the food has been sitting for a while, which is fine for the food which is SUPPOSED to be sitting for a while (I'm especially fond of their ropa vieja, a twiced cooked Cuban beef stew with a garlicky gravy). And, miracle of miracles, they are one of the few restaurants of this type who recognize the fact that while you can add salt to a dish, you can't subtract it, so you can actually taste the flavors in the food, and if you want it salty, you can just add salt. Eddie, the owner, is always friendly and helpful. The staff he hires, mostly teens, are friendly, but not always as knowledgeable about the details of the food. But don't worry, if they don't know the answer, they'll just call Eddie over, who will answer all your questions. My recommendations: Better for lunch than dinner, unless they happen to still have a dinner dish left that you like, and better for take-out or delivery than eat-in, but otherwise highly recommended. read more

When you think Dumont, Cuban typically isn't the first thing to come to mind, but after trying this place you may just find that it is the only thing u can think about when the word Dumont is seen or heard. Yes it is that good. I have had the roast pork at least 30 times in the past two years and not once have I been dissatisfied. Always moist, tender with plenty of great flavor. I have ad pernil/lechon Cuban style slow cooked roast pork from just about every Cuban establishment in NJ ESP throughout the Cuban centric Union City and I can honestly say Cuban Eddies stands up to the best of them. Just don't come here for a romantic setting unless a deli/cafeteria is ur thing. It surely is mine. What can I say I have a weakness for this sort of thing lol. I have had pernil and lechon up and down the streets of little Cuba, union city, north Bergen, bergenline and Passaic and guess what white bread Dumont has them beat. So what makes this place sooooo good. Well Cuban Eddie is a true Cuban who knows how to handle his pork, his stews and his beef. You can tell the man is passionate about his craft. The pernil is seasoned just perfectly, it's tender goodness. An order is about $8.50 comes with your choice of white rice or yellow rice and a side. Listed are beans but they usually r cool about subbing it with something else such as sweet plantains. The meal for one is huge and I usually just split it with my boy and still have left overs lol. Typically we get a couple of empanadas of beef which for a buck totally kick ass and a cpl of papa rellenas. Stuffed potatoes with ground beef and fried to perfection. With a cpl of drinks dinner for two usually come out to 18 bucks. For an amazing Cuban meal in a no frills location this place can not be beat. And if u would rather eat in the comfort of ur home u can always do take out!!! read more

I was excited to find out that there was a Cuban restaurant in Bergen county close to home. I went there on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm and ordered two lunch specials. 1. Pernil with morro rice(black rice with beans) -- The pernil was tasty but the rice was not cooked all the way and the beans were a little crunchy. 2. Beef stew with Yellow rice -- The beef wasn't falling apart as it should and the yellow rice had a weird smell to it(not good). My quest for a Cuban restaurant in Bergen County continues. read more

As a lover of Cuban food and Cuban sandwiches, I used to have to resort to traveling to west New York or north Bergen for my Cuban food....until this place opened. I've been here probably 100 times I've never had a bad meal....Cuban sandwiches, ropa Vieja, breaded chicken, grilled chicken, roast pork, Morros, yellow rice, and plantains are all delightful. Eddie is also really friendly and always has little chats with my dad when we pick up our food. Only downside is that the inside is basically a lunch place so if you plan on eating in, don't expect great atmosphere. I have been at Cuban Eddie's a few times, when they first open the food was great but as the years have passed the food has been going down hill. The last time I ate there I got sick but I thought I might have gotten a stomach virus from one of my children. Today I bought food for lunch the first thing I noticed was the rice was hard an indication that the rice was old, the beans had a vinegar taste to them. I called them and made the complaint their response was we will refund you your money. This is really disturbing I have called and made a complaint to the health department. Not so great for a few reasons. Co-workers and I did a large lunch order for delivery and we all agreed the food was only so-so. Overall, the best way to describe the various lunch specials we ordered were; bland, old, overcooked and undercooked. Also, they charged for an extra side order but forgot it so when the call was placed to notify of the forgotten side they asked, "What do you want us to do about it?" Not so great customer service but it gets even better.., they finally offered to send it out to us on their drivers next delivery so ok, right? Not!!! That particular food that got got delivered late from their error got the person VERY SICK the next day with vomiting and severe diarrhea & they had to call out of work to go to the dr's where it was confirmed to be FOOD POISONING! I'm a big fan of Eddie's. This is a great lunch or takeout place (read: not dinner), and it by far offers the best Cuban Sandwich in the area. The pork is always juicy and never overcooked, and the other dishes are fantastic, as well. Speaking of the meat dishes, they should really have a sign out front that reads "Vegetarians beware!" As with most Cuban restaurants, it is not very vege-friendly. But definitely give it a try. The portions are enormous for the price, and everything is made on premises. read more
