He made sure to let us know about the specials of the day. The restaurant is on the smaller side with maybe room for about 10 small groups. This place is BYOB, as with most restaurants in this area. We enjoyed everything we had! It was flavored to the T! It was fresh! Piping hot and just excellent. The total came out to be about $120 including tax and tip, which is average for this area but is pretty pricey, Inflation hits hard. Nonetheless we would be back again!! It was that good!

Looking at the menu, things seemed to be priced a lot higher than you would expect for the breakfast, lunch, or brunch. $20 appetizer in the morning is a bit wild to me still, even considering current trends in prices. We unfortunately opted out of apps for this reason. I did surge on an apple cider cinnamon drink though, which was quite nice (though again, $12 for a non-alcoholic drink feels steep). For my main meal I had a meat lovers omelette with toast, and that was also $25. The flavor itself was quite nice and the toast complimented well. There was also an option for home fries instead. It was two eggs and satisfied. I enjoyed my experience, but I still feel that there is better value to be had even in Somerville 's downtown. Pricing alone compells me to look into those alternatives instead.

This is a clean casual eating restaurant with a colorful upbeat vibe, Spanish wall art and music. They have cafeteria style steam trays and some tables. I think they do a lot of take-out. Not having a lot of Cuban food experience, I did recognize the empanadas ($3,95), fried pork, red and black beans and yellow rice before settling on a Cuban sandwich ($12.95).The sandwich was just what I needed at the time. Hot, flavorful and the ham and pork was hot, well seasoned and juicy. The bread had a crispy cover but soft on the inside. I understand that the Abuela still does some of the cooking. I usually eat around 3pm so at 5:30 I was starving. I'll be eating more Cuban food in the future!

We ordered fish & chips and a Cuban sandwich. Bold moves, apparently. The fish was so tasteless, I think I offended it by taking a bite. Honestly, frozen supermarket fish would've put up more of a fight. The fries? Also running for the "most bland" award. And the Cuban sandwich--ham, cheese, and shredded pork so thin I had to squint to find the protein. A whisper of meat. A ghost of flavor. But wait, it gets better. A Snapple? $4.00. For that price, I expected someone to at least open it for me. Instead, zero service--and yet, the screen still flipped around asking for a tip. The audacity? Inspiring. Just not in the way they think

So we walked over, and got ourselves two sandwiches. Both owners, or the owner and his mom where there and we had a lovely chat about NYC, trains, earthquakes and the joys of snow when we were kids. I got the pulled pork sand, and she got the Cuban, which may be their signature. Both were extremely tasty, and when I sent my brother the picture below he replied, why haven't you taken me here, so next time we will. They have a wide assortment of croquettes which we didn't try, but we are keen to next time. Overall, wonderful experience, people and food, and if you're in the area you should pop in.

Was greeted with basically a frown and made to feel like I was there to solicit for something "Can I help you with something"... I immediately said, well, yeah, I'm here to order food... LOL. We also couldn't use the restroom (after a 2 hour drive), even though we were patrons... The best part...the croquettes were some of the worst. The only salvageable one was the spinach and feta and even that was bland. The chicken one tasted like dog food and made my sister and I feel ill. Even my daughter couldn't finish the sweet pumpkin one. So, overall.... on top of the unwelcoming attitude and inedible food..... I would never recommend.

We tried several dishes, but some of my favorites were the tostones topped with lechón, El Rumberito for sharing, the Poquito de Todo, and especially the Pasta Cuba Mía with ropa vieja -- absolutely delicious. The flavors really reminded me of home. Their cocktails are also worth trying; everything we ordered tasted great and the presentation was beautiful.
