Love love this restaurant! It really fits the vibe of Espanola way and has amazing food and drinks…read more You can sit inside in the cozy bar or outside- can't go wrong with either. The Spanish tapas are great for sharing and that way you can try everything too. The pan con tomate was so simple yet one of the best things on the menu. The ingredients they use are so fresh! The tuna tar tar was also one of my favorites and the sauce was drinkable it was so light and complemented the tuna so well. The octopus was not as I would have expected and in a rich cheesy sauce but still very flavorful and tender. The empanadas were perfect as well. Our server Conrad was so friendly and helped us with recommendations for wine and dishes.

There…read moreare a lot of good choices in the Miami Beach area but she gave me some specific things she wanted. Walkable to the hotel, good food options and $100 per person maximum. After looking at the reviews I presented Mareva 1939 as my top choice. I contacted them and made a reservation for 10 people, and after the first reservation time I had to adjust with Mareva for people arriving in late because of flights. No problem for Mareva and they didn't need a deposit for the restaurant. It is in the National Hotel, next to where we are staying box 1 check. The place was beautifully decorated and staff all attentive throughout the night. That was my criteria not my boss' since the lack of good service can destroy a great meal. The food choices all were excellent but centered on tapas and Spanish cuisine which checked the second box. Served family style we all chose a number of different tapas and shared. Then large patella dishes, they were plentiful and all delicious. Lastly the price, which may seem high for those outside the area but not for those who know Miami Beach. The bill for the 10 of us that included several drinks person and enough food and desserts to leave us full came to $1,002 including tip and taxes. All boxes checked and my boss and team happy, Mareva 1939 was a huge success.

From the amazing patio view of the pool, to the incredibly friendly and attentive staff, to the delicious huevos rancheros I ordered, it was all excellent. I don't know if I've ever had huevos rancheros that photogenic. It was so bright and vibrant and tasty to boot! Whenever I travel I try to mix up my dining so I can get a wide variety of meals in but I seriously considered breaking my rule and hitting here twice. I will definitely be visiting The National again and when I do, I'll be back for a meal for sure.

I decided to try this place out because it was literally right across the street from the hotel I was staying at & I just wanted something simple for breakfast. The employees here are so friendly & helped me decide on the egg, bacon & cheese empanada. Honestly, I have never been a fan of empanada's but the one I had here was so good. I realized that I prefer argentian empanada's to the dominican empanada's that I've tried in the past. They were so fluffy & filling. I only got two & I felt like that was enough for awhile. I also like the sauce that they gave me to dip them in (I wish I remembered what it was called). Two empanadas after tax were less than $10 which is a steal for miami. I ate one at the restaurant & ate the other one later. I ended up coming back the next morning because it was so good. Thank you & I'll be back if I'm ever in miami again :)

The outdoor areas show a bit of wear (understandable with the Miami weather), so they don't look exactly like the photos, but they're still enjoyable. It was incredibly easy to get a lunch reservation, and the staff was very accommodating--even though we arrived about 15 minutes late, they were kind and welcoming. They also let us choose where we wanted to sit, which was a nice touch. The biggest surprise of all was the food--it was really good. I had the burger and it was delicious. My daughter ordered the Cuban sandwich and said it was phenomenal, and our friend had the chicken Caesar wrap, which she loved. The fries were perfect all around. We also had the sweetest waiter. While we were taking photos, he suggested we check out "the library," which was such a fun tip. I imagine it's more of a scene at night, but for lunch, this spot was exactly what we were looking for.

The venue is beautiful, with indoor and outdoor seating and lots of photo-worthy spots. It's definitely trendy and aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. Our waiter was also tending bar, and the restaurant seemed understaffed for a Saturday brunch. Several tables received drinks and food before our group of seven, and service felt slow. I ordered the espresso martini, which was sweet, and the omelette, which was good but not especially memorable. After brunch, we went to the pool party, where misleading advertising from a promoter put a damper on the experience. Overall, it's a cute, trendy spot worth visiting for the atmosphere, but it's not somewhere I plan to return to.
